Did anyone else beat the game yet? I'm soooo confused!!! Where would Ubisoft even get an idea like this from?
#2 Posted by jakob187 (21675 posts) -

Okay...so, where's the spoiler?  Don't put a spoiler tag and then deny me the spoiler.  I need muh spoilerz!

#3 Posted by Giuseppe (129 posts) -

I didn't write the spoiler cause it's hard to explain. I'll give it a go: "Apparently there are these Aliens (Sun People) who's technogoly (Golden Apple) were far more advance than humans but humans had them outnumbered and won the first war. And now they gave them a warning that a new war is going to start and they better be ready" That's what I got from it.
#4 Posted by Breadfan (6590 posts) -

I just watched the ending on Youtube and it does take a somewhat Da Vinci code like take on historical facts like Ryan mentioned on the latest Bombcast.

I haven't played the game yet, but I'm sure it will make more sense when I see it in context.

#5 Posted by Giuseppe (129 posts) -

Nope. I just beat it 5 minutes ago and am confused as hell. Just like the last ending.
#6 Posted by jakob187 (21675 posts) -

So basically, they are referencing the Egyptians (as they worship Ra, the Sun God)...which leads to the belief that alien technology is what built the pyramids blah blah yadda yadda...as well as linking in the releasing of sin via creation in Paradise (i.e., Adam and Eve...or the "Golden Apple").

Yeah, I hate that they try to act all intellectual because they can reference all kinds of conspiracy theories and crazy shit that any monkey can find on YouTube.  Oh well, my question is whether the gameplay is more varied than the last game.  That's all I care about, to be honest.

Definitly. The game is awesome and addicting.

Okay so, what I got from it is that there were people before humans, and that these people then made humans using the Piece of Eden. However, they manufactured the humans so they would obey them as long as the Piece of Eden was in their possession. Adam and Eve find out and steal the Piece of Eden, releasing the humans from their figurative chains, and leading a rebellion against them. So, in a sense, without realizing it, the "Gods" for lack of a better term, were the first Templars and Adam and Eve, along with all who followed, were the first Assassins. And so they waged war. The "Gods" were stronger but the humans were way more numerous, so the "Gods" were fighting a losing battle. Then, out of nowhere, something that no one expected happened. Some kind of catastrophe involving the sun caused some kind of mass genocide, but there were survivors. Then, realizing that they should stop fighting and rebuild, the "Gods" and humans united. The "Gods" died out and after a looooooooooong time that really happened transformed from truth into myth and speculation since there was no written language. The "Gods" become actual Gods and the sun becomes some sort of be all end all for civilization. The Eastern Hemisphere "evolves" but the Western Hemisphere, or at least the middle of it, still know what's up. But then the conquerers come and destroy nearly everything, leaving only the calender that has the fateful day when it might all happen again--12/21/2012. So anyway, now nobody remembers and the world is doomed once more, except this time there are no "Gods" to protect the humans. However, the "Gods" foresaw this and put temples, or "Vaults" all over the planet to retell the actual tale. HOWEVER, Ezio finds it much too soon, before he can actually do anything about it. The "Gods" foresaw THIS too, and knew that Desmond would revisit the memories of his ancestors so they made sure that in the temple they let him know that they were talking to HIM and not Ezio. It can be assumed that Ezio passed this information down through his ancestors as well, which is probably why Desmonds parents knew it was so vital to keep him safe. So now the threat has shifted from the Templars ruling the world with the Piece of Eden to the sun destroying the world altogether. There's a catch though. Just like the first Vault that Ezio found, you need Pieces of Eden to gain entry to all the other ones. So now that Desmond has all his ancestors' abilities, along with the hidden blade, the search is on, both for another Piece of Eden and the Vaults themselves. Oh, and the Templars may or may not be oblivious to the fact that their doom is imminent. Whether they seek to just rule the world with the Pieces of Eden or save the world with the Pieces of Eden and THEN rule it remains to be seen. I think they know though. The satillite mentioned on one of the computers needed the Piece of Eden to function. I'm just not sure if it's to broadcast the mind-control effects or display the locations of the temples. Maybe the former, because they definitely want dominion like their ancestors. Maybe the latter, because Ezio did the exact same thing with the Piece of Eden when he found the location of the first Vault on the codex pages. Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is that Assassin's Creed III should involve an Eternal Darkness-esque search for the Pieces of Eden, locating and entering the remaining Vaults, and reconciling with the Templars. Or destroying them once and for all. Should be fun. :D

The Ones Who Came Before are aliens, they came here and did some genetic modification on early hominids (aka humanoids) to make them more like The Ones Who Came Before, both in terms of appearance and mentally. Despite having nigh godly technological prowess, they totally forgot that the sun was important, and a solar flare happened which somehow caused a pole shift (which could never happen in real life), and then the pole shift somehow destroyed the earth? I don't know how that follows, it doesn't make sense, Earth undergoes pole shifts periodically, and when it happens, there are never any mass-extinctions that coincide with it.

But Anyway, the aliens somehow magically predicted the future, and knew that Desmond would view the recording in the Animus, and wanted to warn you about it, telling you to go raid some temples, Indianna Jones style, to find a magical plot device that will save the world.

So why are the aliens warning Desmond 500 years before his birth to his relative Ezio about themselves then? That was the part that made no sense. At the end of the game Desmond and Lucy and the other two scientists are talking about how the real fight is against those aliens, but the aliens seemed bent on telling Desmond that they were coming lol. So if their nubers are so few, why tell the one guy that can beat you that you are coming? Made less sense than the first game, but at least the game was done way better this time around. So glad I rented this and didn't buy it. What a waste of $60 that would have been.

loved the mindfuck ending... same as I loved the ending to the first game. It definately sets up where they may go next... possibly further back in time to the time of the pyramids? there definately seemed to be a lot of imagery to suggest so... the weird adam and eve as aliens sidequest video and the chamber sequence at the end really are unique (excluding prey which had some similar concepts if i remember correctly) and Im quite impressed how such a high profile game is getting away with it's absurdity.

hugely enjoyable nonsense.

That doesn't even make any sense. There is either a hook or there isn't a hook, and the game has a big hook at the end to make people want more. It's irrelevant if you don't enjoy the game enough to be interested in the next one. There IS a hook.

See, this is why games like this sometimes don't prosper as much as they should. Not because they're bad, but because people like this guy don't take the time to understand what's going on. -_- First of all, they aren't aliens. They were there before us. They're more like "Gods." Anyway, the "Gods" SPECIFICALLY say, they're gone forever, not that they are coming back. Lucy, Rebecca, and what's-his-face never say the real fight is against the "Gods," they say that the real fight is against time: whatever happened that nearly killed off everything on Earth is going to happen again, and soon. Finally they're warning him 400 years before because they're psychic and predicted that Desmond would revisit his ancestor's memory and be able to actually locate the Vaults during HIS time. Ezio couldn't possibly do it in 1499--the Americas had only been discovered seven years prior, and three or four of the Vaults were in that area. Perhaps before you bash the ending you should take the time to understand it.

@Jayzilla: Next time pay attention instead of bashing the story just because you didn't understand it.

Ezio found the vault too soon and the "gods" foresaw this. At that time parts of the world where some other vaults are located were not discovered yet by the civilized world. They even mention this when you stand in front of the world map. And on it you can see vault symbols spread over America and so on.

Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is that Assassin's Creed III should involve an Eternal Darkness-esque search for the Pieces of Eden, locating and entering the remaining Vaults, and reconciling with the Templars. Or destroying them once and for all. Should be fun. :D "

It's a really good summary. I formatted it a bit so people can read it without scratching their eyes out. :D
#34 Posted by ZackBoy (15 posts) -
Thats pretty much how I got it. And even though it's quite preposterous it's very interesting. I only wish I could figure out a lot more using the hidden messages in the truth puzzles.  Like the messages about Henry Ford talking about H. That they all let him have his fun (the war) and he was supposed to execute his stand-in and meet up with them later. I found that interesting as hell.
#35 Posted by Drakzen (6 posts) -

At the end I heard a mention of a greater threat. I'm not sure but I think they called it the cross. I think the game was pretty good but the end was sort of a let down because you play through all this game with Ezio and then he isn't needed any more.  I would have liked it if Ezio said something to say what he would do next. And on the Codex map if you notice all the symbols are the Assassin symbols. Maybe places Altiar found important information.

It's sort of obvious that in "the Truth" section of the game that the two people running are Adam and Eve. It also said in hints that Altiair is in the game and can you find him,SPOILER:

does it mean where you get to play as him again or is there somewhere else because he does mention prolonging his life.

SPOILER END.

And the aliens are more like humans but a more advanced form of humans.

Now Just a thought about the second game:

I think you will play as Desmond in the third game and maybe have more of those visions like the one with Altiair. and that the locations you go to with be locations where Altiair visited and you may have visions where you go through them with Altiair then with Desmin. And what if the sun is actually a piece of eden or that if the the piece are gather that this threat will appear when they are all gathered. This may sound proposterous but what if Altiair is actually in the game and that he used a piece of Eden to prolong his life and maybe meets desmond just a thought.

I think that whoever made the asbergo company found something like a codex or a piece of eden and using information he found constructed the animus maybe. because they would'nt just randomly think of the idea to use a machine to experiance your ancestors life they must know something and what do they want with the pieces of eden do they know what will happen and know about this "Greater threat" It's going to be such a long wait.

Sorry about this being so long
#36 Posted by CptBedlam (4451 posts) -
@Drakzen: You should really read the summary a few posts above.

- the threat has to do with the sun; most likely the same that happened once before and almost lead to extinction of humanity

 - the symbols on the map are vaults like the one Ezio found at the end

- the aliens are not aliens, they lived on earth

- yes, they are Adam and Eve; humans were created by this really advanced race they call "gods" and were basically imprisoned in this Eden building which they escape
#37 Posted by Drakzen (6 posts) -
@CptBedlam:
I did touch on the sun being a piece of eden or that al the pieces could attract the sun in some way. and I have seen on another site that the emails in the game indicate that they have until a certain date to get this piece of eden that creates illusions and also subject 16 writes that this dooms day happens on the same day. And when you said that Desmonds parents knew about this information and kept him safe for it could be right but knowing this information or not he was the son of assassins so he would be hunted down anyway.

I didn't say they where aliens I said that they were not aliens.
So the vault that Ezio found is most probably the "temples" Desmond needs to locate.
Also in an email on assassins creed they say there is a piece of eden that can warp time and they test it this could be how the Gods know about Desmond specificaly and that in Desmonds time there will be the means and resources to find these vaults.
#38 Posted by s0mah (107 posts) -

It's all pretty contrived...

Didn't whatever-the-cyberpunker-assassin's-name is, tell Desmond that the sun would probably not scorch the Earth?  I thought that she was predicting some sort of solar flare, EMPish type calamity, or something.

If anyone is counting, I think it would be ill to see an assassin running around in an American Civil War type environment.

Victorian could be neat too.

O_O) The sun can't be a Piece of Eden. The Pieces of Eden were manufactured by the "Gods." It's how they knew how to manufacture the humans. And you're right, that email on Assassin's Creed I does say that, which proves destroys my theory that they're oblivious. Tthe Templars know what's up, and they need the Piece of Eden to save the world--and then rule it.

And they had to keep a special eye on him. The Templars weren't looking to kill him like the rest of the Assassins. They were going to use him to find the Piece of Eden, and if they got Desmond everything would have been for naught. He was a "special" assassin, so they had to keep him safer than the others. Didn't work since he ran away though...

And the Vaults ARE the temples Desmond will have to find in Assassin's Creed III. One of the Assassins, or the "Goddess," can't remember who, says so. And I forgot all about that email with all the other artifacts the Templars had found on it. The "Gods" probably did use that particular Piece of Eden to see into the future.

And on the last codex page Altair says he's close to death, but he'll look at it "one last time." He may have used it to prolong his life, and he might appear in the last game, and if that's the case, so will Ezio, seeing as he has it at the end of his adventure as well. They all might unite to take on the Templar threat.

And the Templars did have a Piece of Eden. The glyphs paint an extremely intricate picture of the path of the Piece of Eden through history. Joan of Arc has it, Rasputin has it, and even Cain had it. If you notice, the trail kind of goes cold after Rasputin loses it. We can assume this is when the Templars get their hands on it.

They use this one for an extremely long time. They make electricity with it, send Lance Armstrong to the moon with it, and lets H. (Hitler in case you didn't catch that) start World War II with it. The Assassins finally track them down though, and it gets destroyed, but it has the effect of an atom being diffused the wrong way. It kills EVERYONE near it, except one Assassin who escapes and sends Vidic that one email. You know, the one that is in all caps and is like "I'LL TELL EVERYONE. ANYONE WHO WILL LISTEN."

After that catastrophic event, they decide that they should look through history for another one. We'll have to assume that the Animus was already made using the Piece of Eden before it was destroyed. So anyway, they go through a shitload of subjects, and none of them really help, EXCEPT for Subject 16, seeing as he was an ancestor to Adam and Eve, and allows them to actually see how humans were created. Before that though they see a lot of other things, like the Vaults.

At the end of Assassin's Creed all those symbols don't mean anything, but now they do. It's clear on where at least one of the Vaults is. One of the messages written in blood is "They drained my soul and made it theirs I drained my body to show you where I saw it." One is for sure in Central or South America. All those pyramids and animals have that style.

So the Templars probably investigated these ruins, but they no longer have a Piece of Eden to get in, (keep in mind they obviously know about the Vaults BEFORE he goes crazy and kills himself because they've been monitoring him while he's in the Animus) so they push him harder and harder and harder to either find out where one is or go all the way back to that [CLASSIFIED] B.C.E. date and see how one is made.

Of course, that doesn't work out too well, because the bleeding effect took complete control and drove him insane, but somehow they're led to Desmond, who is an ancestor of Altair's, who found a Piece of Eden, which has a map of where other Pieces of Eden are. Or, now looking back after beating Assassin's Creed 2, was that a map of more Vaults? Maybe, but I'm thinking the former because, like I said before, you need a Piece of Eden (or two?) to get into the Vault in the first place.

Oh, and thanks to the dude who made my summary more eye-friendly. I didn't even think to use the Enter key. xD I used it this time though! :D

^^This, only they can't be aliens because they were there before humans. Definition of alien is foreign, and seeing as they made humans, humans can't write them off as foreign, because they were there when humans got there. They're as much alien as the humans are, in which case, they wouldn't be aliens. The "Gods" in the game are not aliens. Period, point, blank. They're sufficiently advanced though, that's for sure.

Hey, if anyone remembers, in AC1 in one of the writings in blood it mentions a Japanese island reminiscent to Atlantis. Also, Vidic mentions some of the temples were land-masses that are "gone". Since one of the Pieces of Eden control time......i am willing to bet that time travel to different places all over the world will occur in AC3. If anyone finds this idea wrong, please comment.

What? Why do the pieces of Eden control time? When did we find that out?

@tcrown7:

I thought it was established that they came from somewhere else, and visited Earth to uplift the proto-humans?

in Abstergo's emails there are references to the Philadelphia Experiment, where a cruiser was transported through time for about 8 minutes. but even abstergo are as scared as hell about using it because they don't want to create time paradoxes. so why should the assassins be any different?

anyway i think that Desmond and the assassins SHOULD be able to reach the vaults (even if they are on submerged land masses) provided they have the piece of eden. the staff was used by moses to part the red sea, it could help the assassins to reach the underground vaults without problems as well.

I think in the game, God will still exist as a singular entity. The spin on it however is that God created the Pieces of Eden, and Minerva and her race, and in turn Minerva created the humans. When asked if they were gods, Minerva merely laughed and said no, so I assume that the Pieces of Eden needed to have been created originally by God.

Why does God need to be included at all? The Ones Who Came Before are extremely advanced, and I see no reason why they didn't/couldn't have created the Pieces of Eden themselves. Did I miss something?

Because, one, Minerva smiled and said that she wasn't a god, and two, I doubt if they were powerful enough to create the Pieces of Eden, that they could let them get stolen by humans.

I don't really think logic is coming into this at all, you're talking about a race of people who mock humans for their minds not being advanced enough to undertand them, yet had the pieces of Eden stolen from them. Apparently we were "many", but they never thought to build a friggin machinegun or something. The TRUTH clip shows humans in some kind of forge beating metal with a hammer, so they clearly aren't approaching our modern day level of technological sophistication.

Secondly, saying you're not a God does not mean that there are Gods, that they believe there are Gods, or anything of the such. You're reading something into it that isn't there.

I think what I think because of the fact that if the aliens refuse to call them gods, then the term god must have originated from somewhere. Hinting his existence. That and the last person you kill says that God is hiding below the Vatican. He was a descendant of the original Templars while Ezio was the descendant of the original assassin's, so if they both had no clue or knowledge passed down onto them that God doesn't exist then I conclude that he can. The story doesn't need him, but it could very logically be in the game, and I find it more interesting if the pieces of Eden were created by him.
