So I just recently started with this and so far I'm glad that Ubi has turned out a solid PC port of this game. Shit just looks good and I'm able to get 50-60 frames with nearly maxed out settings and medium AA at 1080p.

@Bourbon_Warrior: Read the OP, I listed the settings and FPS. I've got an i5 and GTX 555 so you definitely get some mileage out of the older GPU's. I wonder how much of a hit the FPS will take once I get to the frontier or bigger cities but at least I won't have to drop the resolution by much if that ends up being the case.

I've read about this issue from others as well. Game runs just fine, but as soon as they hit a city the frame rate goes to shit.

Yup, I had to tweak couple of settings cuz my frames dropped to 40 which is weird cuz that guy's setup should be fine.

I think the issue is that Ubisoft didn't put enough graphics options to mess with. The draw distance in this game is fucking ridiculous that I wish I could reduce it so I can get a better performance and you can't disable tessellation. I bet they will be patched in.

i found the draw distance to be incredibly small and would like to increase it, im having buildings pop in as im walking down the street, also when i do a sync the world looks like its belt on top of a penny with emptiness all around. im wondering if the game on start up works out what your recommended draw distance should be and sets it accordingly.

Oh wait, 'murica. Still don't understand why the page is completely gone in the UK for Steam, but eh. Does the disc version use Steamworks? I might just preorder it...

@buft: Either way there needs to be more graphics options because there's something that is draining my frames to the point that even changing resolutions barely changes anything so I'm keeping it to 1080. Also I never had buildings pop in so maybe you're right about the auto detection but it seems to be really inaccurate because I don't need the draw distance to be this large.

    Huh? It's still here.

Edit: I don't think so because when I launch the game it takes you to a stupid Uplay UI. It's not terrible because you can go to the game fast but it's just an extra step that doesn't need to be there.

@SharkEthic: I've done 3 or 4 missions in Boston. How much longer until I actually become Connor?

    @AhmadMetallic said:

The only glitch I ran into so far is a guy I was supposed to run after and follow and he accidentally ran into a group of guards and couldn't move forward. I think the only issue with the game is the lack of multiple graphics options because there seems to be something in the larger environments that is a drain on my frames but if you have a really good rig then you shouldn't have to worry.

@RVonE: I want to say that the controls were mapped weirdly but I never had a major issue with it, but trust me on AC 3 it's the standard gamepad support you get like in other games.

Probably because nobody bought it yet. I dunno how you go from creating third-person action masterpieces, that happen to run almost flawlessly on the PC, to releasing what people call a "boring" glitchy as hell trainwreck that, also by the way, is lacking on the PC.

What went wrong with AC3? Don't think I'm buying anytime soon.

@AhmadMetallic: What are you talking about? I would agree if you were talking about the console versions but there's a reason why Ubi dumped out a huge patch to fix that shit and made sure those patches made it into the PC version at launch. The only thing that's missing is more configurable graphics options.

I have read that Assassin's Creed 3 will appear on the UK Steam store after release or day of release. It's apparently down to a stupid agreement Ubisoft have with retailers. Hope is it'll be up on Friday.

This is with TXAA enabled. My frames took a dip when I got to the city though. Knocked AA down to high and I could stay above 60 on my GTX 670.

Need some images of the end naval battle. I had reservations about the ship stuff but, man, that was the best part of the game; the climax you might say. Too bad you have a pretty crappy chase sequence that wraps up the game after that because it could of ended on that high note.

I have only done about 3 of them and they are so fucking fun, haven't had that experience with any game before. There is way more control to them than I thought, plus the whole upgrade your ship mechanic.

@fetchfox: That 6th shot looks incredible if there was no UI it would be my desktop wallpaper.

Thanks! Had to hold some buttons to get that shot, heh. I wish I could oblige you, but even if I turn off all the UI, the money counter still shows.

@NoRemnants: Check out a side by side comparison, the PC version is definitely graphically superior. On max settings its quite the difference.
