People should already know better than to purchase Ubisoft games on PC.
Why? I own lots of ubi games on pc, and love them all.
Their DRM gives a lot of legitimate owners trouble, myself included. Some of the project leads have also made some disparaging remarks about PC gamers. I just want the games I payed for to work.
- I found the Ubisoft PC titles themselves and ports actually pretty decent overall. In fact I even prefer the PC controls of the AC franchise to console controls (due to easier camera control hence more precise traversal/jumping)
- The Ubisoft DRM however has been pretty bad and has prevented me from playing the games I purchased several times.
- That said the AC series have pretty much always come out later for PC at every iteration, so this is not exactly surprising.
This reminds me of this interview GameSpy did:
GameSpy: So when's the PC release date?
Ubisoft PR: October 30th.
GameSpy: Yeah, but when's therealPC release date?
Ubisoft PR: It's October 30th.
GameSpy: Uh huh. And can you say that with a straight face?
Ubisoft PR: You can ask me as many times as you like, but the answer will be the same.
GameSpy: Very well, let's move on. So, when will you announce the delay of the PC version?
Ubisoft PR: ...

Hilarious. Ubisoft certainly has gotten predicable with this stuff.

HA. That interviewer's kind of being an asshole, but an asshole I can appreciate because it's gotten so predictable.

Exactly what I was thinking of.
Played all four Assassin's Creed games on PC and loved them. They look great, they run great, the DRM is near flawless, mouse & keyboard controls are perfect, and the games themselves are masterpieces.
AC3 delayed? Means more polish, a better game, so hell yeah I don't mind.
A Ubisoft PC release delayed? Say it isn't so!

An asshole? I think he was brilliant. I might actually start reading some Gamespy articles now because of this guy!

The two things aren't mutually exclusive.

Indeed, he was a brilliant asshole, and God bless him for it. :P
@Meowshi: Touché. Still don't see him being an asshole, though. Bolder and more persistent than your average interviewer, sure, but an asshole? Nah.
so they will delay. I am not surprise at all. this is what they do for PC gamers. it's an excuse that they need more time to make a port to PC. but look, Ubi.
you delayed 'ghost recon future soldier' as well. but what was really improved anyway? few patches did even make a game worse. what's up with slowing down frame rate so much for mission 10 to 12?
why is it happened even I play it with my powerful gaming laptop? I just don't accept such a excuse anymore.
One minor game gets a shitty port so you're denying yourself from the awesomeness of the rest of their pc library? Maybe you should stop acting like a whiny little child and make decisions based on how the actual game runs on a pc.After From Dust on PC Ubisoft can get fucked, and then fucked again by a minotaur.

Maybe you should shut the fuck up and let me decide if I want to hand over $60 to a publisher that green lights a PC port with literally unplayable mouse controls. If you don't treat every Ubisoft PC release with skepticism, you will be burned.
I'm done here.
I love the Internet kiddy rage. Maybe you haven't noticed but every $60 game Ubisoft has released over the last few years have been pretty much flawless ports. Saying "fuck Ubisoft with a frog" because of one fuckup with a minor game is like calling Michael Jordan (best basketball player ever) garbage and worthless because he missed a game winning shot in a summer game against a group of cartoon midgets with superpowers.@Hunkulese said:

If you take Ubisofts past ports of games that matter there is no reason to believe AC 3 won't be a great port and the best available version of the game.
They're not flawless at all. Assassin's Creed games have always had messed up mouse controls. It's rather annoying that they can't get it right. In the first game it was only a slight problem that the cameras movements were based off of acceleration. Some how they managed to make it even worse for the other three games. Then the developer has the gall to insinuate that their games work better with a gamepad then with their crippled mouse and keyboard implementation. It's funny how they forgot to mention that none of the Assassin's Creed games really utilized analogue control in the first place. They didn't even use 8 directions for combat targeting and climbing.
