All I know is that I have zero interest in a Japan/China AC. Ninja games are like WWII shooters to me at this point.
Also, I don't really give a shit at all about playing in modern day as Desmond. I liked Ezio way more as a character.

Rumor Time! Protagonist to be Native American

if he's Indian in the same way the Prince of Persia is Persian I'd ok with that. What's wrong with an actual Native American protagonist? Is that somehow less ideal?
All I know is that I have zero interest in a Japan/China AC. Ninja games are like WWII shooters to me at this point.Yeah this new guy, better be as slick or cool as Ezio.
Also, I don't really give a shit at all about playing in modern day as Desmond. I liked Ezio way more as a character.
I like the idea of him at least being a Native American, I was expecting him to be an all-American world saving macho-man! :D But don't care much for the setting to be honest, that's an interest thing though. Don't like the look of him to be fair, hope that gets changed to a degree.
The idea is interesting, but that would most likely mean that some of the fundamentals of the gameplay will have to change I think, there weren't that many large walled in cities with big architecture in North America at the time as far as I know.
@deskp: That's the thing. I'm not sure there was a ton of huge structures during the early colonial days of America.
Which makes me wonder if THAT'S how the series will renew itself; make the verticality and established mechanics scarce in favor of developing new and different elements for the series. Of course this is all just speculation, but aren't we all just spitballing at this point?

Err, well...I did.
It turned out fine, though. ACII ended up becoming one of my all-time favorites. Maybe ACIII will be the same? Idk? I just hope it's better than Revelations at least.

During the American Revolution? I don't see why not.
Considering how the story is played out with the glyph puzzles and all it's evidence, especially the co-ordinates in that Leonardo DLC all pointing to a Battlefield in the US, setting the third game in the US during the Independence War makes far more sense than going to the far-east for the sake of that idea being awesome. I do hope the modern day team go to the US so the story rounds up nicely.
There might not be much city-structure to jump around on but that doesn't mean it can be exciting still. Look at 1992's Last of the Mohicans movie from the French & Indian War (1754 to 1763). The characters in that film were always running and jumping and leaping through the wild terrain of northeastern colonial America and Canada. If this rumor is true, and it looks like it might be since there were some images form Game Informer recently popping up online, I'd be pleased.
@Shun_Akiyama: Ezio didn't speak english. And, to my knowledge, neither did Altaïr.
They mentioned, within the games, that the Animus was filtering and translating the languages for Desmond to understand. The translations were not perfect, though, so that was how they explained the bits of Italian that never got translated in some of the dialogue.
The animus even features subtitles, because when I turned on the subtitles...Desmond actually references that he can see the subtitles.
The animus gives the designers ALOT of freedom in explaining things. Like the HUD, subtitles, the characters speaking English, etc.
They never been entirely accurate with the cities, they just needed to have the feel and some landmarks to distinguish em.
So I don't see a problem with it not being urbanized enough.
@RobKenno: I believe George Washington was an Assassin, and not a Templar. They might have just hinted at that, and not said it though.
I think, as far as they've done before, the countries/governments are not entirely one or the other...but divided between the two because they've both infiltrated positions and ranks in every government. So, America is not going to be a Templar country. It'll just wind up being another battleground for the secret war between the Assassin's and the Templars.
Yeah, but Assassin's Creed games are gay anyway. I'll take Ninja Gaiden any day.
Frenchy Assassins vs FUCKING NINJAS!
Do I even need to say who wins that fight?
@firecracker22: They just uploaded that off their Facebook page so I assume its pretty much confirmed.
Mmm your right about it just becoming a battle ground. Still according to this@RobKenno: I believe George Washington was an Assassin, and not a Templar. They might have just hinted at that, and not said it though.

George was a templar (If im reading it right) then again could be a whole "Was getting controlled etc etc super crazy plot", seeing as i'm discovering the Queen had a apple as well haha
For awhile there I was like, pfft not true I doubt this will be the new setting. Then i saw the newer cover, and holy shit I want that game (I was already getting the game any way).
Does make me wonder how they are going to work a lot of it out, mechanically at least, but maybe the change is a good idea, because we did climb tall stuff for 3+ games in a row.

Don't you mean your Assassin buddy Ben Franklin? Because that's clearly how this has to go.

No interest whatsoever in Native Americans. This isn't social studies class -- I've had enough white guilt beaten into me already. I'd be fine with a colonial setting though, just please make the protagonist European. He needs to be civilized to be relatable.
Where's Giant Bomb's ignorant asshole flag button?Honestly sounds awesome to play as a Native for once.Enough fuckin gringo protagonists. Like fuckin Christ how many bald, clean shaven, built, white protagonists can they keep shitting out? Just look at my avatar for evidence! Then again it was made by the Danish...
