From all the articles I've read over Revelations I keep hearing about this new "tool" and a new "weapon". Well I have a pretty good idea what it will be.

Here is the first screen shot from Revelations, looks normal.

Here is a zoomed in picture of Ezio's hand and hidden blade. Notice the curve?
I'm guessing (I have heard this from another user on a different forum) that the new tool or weapon is a grappling hook. This is plausible considering Ezio has a gun in his left hand, and this is his right hand. You could use the hook for two things. One to easily hoist yourself into the air onto the roof. You could also shoot it into enemies' necks and kill them by cutting their jugular in mid air.

Imagine it, a guard is walking down the street with his buddies when out of no where the guard next to him flies into the air never to be seen again.

What are your guesses about the new tool and weapon?

Grappling hook would make the most sense.  I was already amazed he didn't have one in the previous games.

I know it probably isn't this but it kinda looks like a wrist uh, axe. Or maybe something that digs into walls for better grip or something? Hell I don't know.

It's either a grappling hook, or, like the previous man said, a wrist-axe, so you could climb up a wall even when there's nothing to hold onto.

A wrist axe sounds kind of dumb from a combat perspective.

Its definitely something to help climbing, because he won't let his Hidden Blade out like that while climbing. And I don't think there is anyone above him to kill. He can't air assassinate from that really high building either.

You can't go wrong with a grapping hook. It's what made Just Cause 2 so fun.

I really don't think a grappling hook would work in Assassin's Creed. The Giant Bomb Revelations page talks about a 'Hookblade' that lets you slide along zipwires. I'm guessing that's probably it.

It looks more like an ice pick of sorts than a grappling hook. The picture seems to back that up because it looks like he's losing his grip and needs to grab a hold (with the pick).

    Taken from the gameinformer info blowout;

    • Ezio has a new item called the hookblade which allows him to use ziplines throughout the city. UBI says that it speeds up navigation by about 30%
    • You can also use the hookblade to reach out and pull enemies in for a combo

@OmegaPirate: Awesome, that was my guest upon seeing the picture. Though I do really like jumping around. Not sure how I feel about less of that.

Grappling hook is probably the best bet. He climbed stupidly tall buildings beforehand but I do recall there being a glove that helped you jump up to high ledges? This could possibly be an extension of that.

Y...Yes. You can now stab people in the face AND neck.

Oh wait, you could already do that.

At the E3 demo , Ezio uses his hook attached to his hiddenblade to slide on the ziplines to the other ships .
and he grabs a guard and throws him down into the sea with the hook , so I think it is used for traveling and combat .
    Heres the E3 Demo : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kh0nRRFLJ5k
