It's like some weird dimensional space pocket where arcades aren't dead.

What I also liked about this video... the low rumble growing in volume as Ryan moved towards the doors to the convention.

#103 Posted by lhaymehr (203 posts) -

Wow you guys walked into some kind of time rift. Looks awesome.

#104 Posted by IamTerics (414 posts) -

So this is what the West Coast is like.

#105 Posted by OdoLives (18 posts) -

Giant Bomb guys - I love you, but seriously, you guys need to buy a steadycam or learn to hold the camera better.  Also, not constantly zoom in on everything.  It's getting pretty tough to watch some of these videos without getting motion sickness.

Not trying to be a jerk, it's just that the camerawork needs some serious improvement.

What I'm wondering is how much power does this place draw.

#107 Posted by Spiritof (2050 posts) -

If I lived within 500 miles of this, I'd be going every year they'd have me.

#108 Posted by KuribosShoe (640 posts) -

fun fact: the song playing is The Circus by Erasure

I didn't know they had another song!

#109 Posted by KuribosShoe (640 posts) -

video was amazing.  I want to go!

#110 Posted by Spiritof (2050 posts) -

 3m34s = The Tabletop Sensai
#111 Posted by ArmedBear (221 posts) -

I wish they had a little Japanese pachinko parlor.  Pachinko is extreme.

#112 Posted by Mezmero (1904 posts) -

Dudes, the arcade is always awesome.  Unless its in a crappy movie theater.

@KuribosShoe:  The Circus in Robot Unicorn Attack 2 confirmed?
#114 Edited by Pop (2633 posts) -

It looks like jeff's gameroom :D
I didn't see any street fighter.

#115 Posted by nick_verissimo (1385 posts) -

Anyone know if there are any cons. like this in the Toronto area? I'd love to go to one.

#116 Posted by Deathpooky (1402 posts) -

This seems like as good as any place to post this:

Gawd, I miss arcades.  Will they ever make a come-back?
#118 Posted by Vigorousjammer (2503 posts) -

Man, I really wanna goto this next year, but I'm allllll the way out in Long Island.
We don't even have any good arcades on Long Island anymore...

#119 Posted by Contra (247 posts) -

To me that looked like a 1980's dystopian vision of the future, without the heavily armed guards on raised platforms ,atmospheric smoke, or giant cage for matches in the middle.

#120 Posted by rentfn (1280 posts) -

Yes the real true APB. play that!!!!!

I'm afraid not, but they will live on in your heart, noble gamer, as long as you cherish their memory.
#122 Posted by gakon (1952 posts) -

This beats Game Room.

#123 Posted by Bartman3010 (445 posts) -

I do kind of wish the arcade cabinets were readable.

But this video was enough to make me want to go to California Extreme...

#124 Posted by SuperJoe (878 posts) -

It's like vinyl, only 1000x more expensive

#125 Posted by Dpower94 (233 posts) -

I'm surprised there were no fighting game machines.

#126 Posted by glitznglam_style (111 posts) -

Holy crap, I've just been transported back to the '80s. XD
#127 Edited by Patman99 (1585 posts) -

Turn left here to enter 1980s.

Love the cocktail arcade cabinets. This is what Game Room should have been.

#128 Posted by Ronald (1368 posts) -

Oh, if only Game Room could be like this. Packed with every different type of game (even if not always playable just to have that paddle thing) and packed with people, not just a dozen friends' avatar standing around broken.

#129 Posted by AuthenticM (3732 posts) -

I have a strange feeling of déjà vu. Were they there last year?

#130 Posted by Dain22 (315 posts) -
@Dpower94: Or DDR for that matter.
#131 Posted by onimonkii (2443 posts) -

man imagine if they just charged a quarter for the games and left it open all year.

instant arcade revival, a body on every machine.

#132 Posted by hi_im_rob (202 posts) -

Is this place licenced?  If not it should be.

#133 Posted by FuzzYLemoN (1600 posts) -

I don't think I've ever seen a pinball machine in my life.
This concept of a gathering of these devices terrifies me.

#134 Posted by DevWil (842 posts) -

bummer that you can't read most of the titles on the machines.  i know it's nearly impossible to get that kind of thing legible on video, not blaming anybody.

#135 Posted by BaconGames (3423 posts) -

Middle-aged fat guys with pony-tails need to die.  If I were in the business of killing them, business would be booming.

Great to see a lot of different ages, races, and genders too.  Like many others, I wish I was there.

#136 Posted by Sarumarine (2244 posts) -

Ryan Davis is weak to Asteroids confirmed. Nice that you had the time to bother that one dude riding the bike. Was he playing a pinball table with it? That's crazy. I thought it was an arcade game at first glance.

#137 Posted by Symphony (1912 posts) -

What game was it that had The Circus by Erasure in it? o.O

#138 Posted by Subjugation (4720 posts) -

Omg, the signature click of the Time Crisis pistols. Such a good time.

#139 Posted by JessicaBoo (404 posts) -

This is just...... To me, HEAVEN! :) i would love to be there!
#140 Edited by JamesM (206 posts) -

I would love for something like this to be anywhere near me. I'm not a huge arcade nut or retro game aficionado, but there is something undeniably cool about vintage arcade machines. I particularly like vector display ones, since they offer something quite unlike what modern devices provide.

#141 Posted by Alphazero (1536 posts) -

I feel like the Dude in Big Lebowski listening to the sounds of bowling. Arcade is my favorite white noise of all.

#142 Posted by Daryl (1781 posts) -

I might overdose on ponytails.

#143 Posted by zombiesatemycereal (426 posts) -
@Dain22:  There was a DDR machine at the end, right next to top skater.
#144 Posted by babz (309 posts) -

i wish we had events like this in the uk :(

#145 Posted by Korwin (2865 posts) -

*sob* It's just so damn beautiful.

#146 Posted by swat200 (242 posts) -

wait wait.....was that rick astley on that video screen singing? WTF

#147 Posted by Daftasabat (510 posts) -
@babz:  Me too, just seeing glimpses of the old greats brings back fond memories. We need events like this in the UK!
#148 Posted by DiscoDuck8k (499 posts) -

Looks really fun. I don't even remember the last time I was in a proper arcade.

#149 Posted by Mariorules85 (33 posts) -

I gotta tell ya... this is 8 minutes and 15 seconds of pure arcade nostalgia!

" Also, power stance! "
Indeed, Ryan knows a good stance when he sees one.

I hope they have air conditioning in that place...
