Athena Pierce is the bowman job instructor in the MMORPG Maple Story. At level 10 a player can visit Athena at the Henesys Mushroom Park to become an archer. She will advance beginners to the rank of 1st job archer and upon subsequent visits she can advance a player to 2nd and 3rd job archers. Those who wish to become 3rd job archers will have to fight Athena to prove their worthiness.
Athena promoted herself to the position of bowman instructor after her father Anthony Pierce disappeared during the Crimson Balrog wars. This drove Athena very nearly insane with rage, she was of a dangerous sort and people feared even mentioning her name. Eventually Athena's rage was stopped by a group of magicians and the darker parts of her soul were sealed away in another dimension.
