I hope this doesn't mean anything bad. I really like how Atlus releases such alternative games here in NA.

regardless of this news, Jeff said on the Bombcast that they'd never do another Altus Endurance Run.

I'm sort of disappointed that the crew is against during another Atlus ER. I understand where they are coming from though.

I read about that earlier.  They will still be making games so don't worry.

All it means is that there will be some internal restructuring. "Atlus" is no longer a separate company, but what was known as Atlus still exists, it's just part of Index Holdings, with no official separate entity. They'll keep making games, and I'm brand will survive because it would be pretty dumb to slap "Index Holdings" on a game box. It's all just internal stuff, we won't notice any change.

This.  And Atlus will still exist, so this is no big deal at all.

As far as I know, they're keeping the name Atlus since it's quite a recognisable name so it won't be that much different. As for ERs, I couldn't care less if started one right now or never.

I think the op knew about what Jeff said, which is my guess to why he said Atlus, as oppose to persona.

Yeah, Giant Bomb weren't going to do another Atlus endurance run anyway and as the article states it's not 100% clear what this really means, I'm not overly worried about the state of Atlus.

It's all businessy mumbo-jumbo for now. What this means on the consumer end, we won't know until it happens. Could be nothing.

I direct you here. From post #10 on some of the admins explain the situation. It seems like it's just the parent company wanting easy access to Atlus' IPs without having to jump through legal hoops to use the stuff they already technically own.

I'm pretty sure the SMT and SMT related teams will still be there, so the games won't stop being developed.  What I want to know is how it'll effect Atlus's publishing of niche rpgs outside of Japan.

Atlus is still alive and will still make games. This just one of those company things where they are keep their goods safe.

I'm pretty sure they will still use the Atlus name for marketing reasons, but it won't be on the Japanese stock or whatever anymore.

This just means Atlus will have more money for future projects. The brand will still exist.

Never say never, but the new game is too weird in a sexual way to make for a good endurance run.  For a good one, you've gotta have a good mix of fun (non-adult) humor and an interesting story.  Not a lot of things fit that mold and the Persona series is one of the only ones.  Even other Atlas games don't do it very well.  I really hope a good, funny game flies enough under the radar this holiday to qualify for another one next year.  It's gotta be something Japanese though because there's always something awesome for the very American GB staff to be totally perplexed by stuff common in Japanese culture

I don't think this will change anything for us gamers.  Besides, I read that the "Atlus" logo will still remain on games produced.  From what I understand this really effects the Atlus stock on the Japanese Exchange more than anything.
