Are Atlus owned by Sony?

Just wondering if they actually owned by Sony or whether they had a standing agreement with them ...

Nope, they are a 3rd party publisher. It is just most of the games they develop (maybe even all, I'm not sure) are for the Sony systems.

I guess you can call they a faux-2nd party.

Not even, especially given all of their DS library. They've done games for every system this generation.
