Audio Logs

Concept »

Audio logs are short voice recordings that a player comes across within a game that helps inform the player of the game's story and characters.

What was the first game to have Bioshock style audio logs?

As in, pick them up in the world and listen to them in the background while continuing to play the game.

Was it like that in the original System Shock?

I know System Shock 2 had them, don't know about System Shock 1 though.

I'm almost certain audio logs weren't in the original System Shock.
