Action RPG (Action Role-Playing Game), also known as ARPG, refers to RPGs (role-playing games) that use direct, real-time, reflex-oriented, action combat systems, instead of the more abstract turn-based or menu-based battle systems.
Games that feature more than one style of Game Over screen. Alternate Game Over screens are often used when the player loses in specific ways.
Games that are divided into daily (or nightly) chapters.
When a song is played over the end-credits, often by a famous artist.
A plot device where the story appears to be heading to a conclusion, but in reality there's still more to the story. For example, just when you think you've saved the world, the true final threat reveals itself. Often appears in Japanese RPG and visual novel titles.
Game Over originally appeared in pinball machines, and later, arcade machines. When players lose at a game, it is game over.
The sadistic and brutal warriors who serve Nemesis, once William the Just. As such they are recurring enemies in the original Legacy of Kain game.
A cutscene or conversation that appears after, or during, the credits -- usually as a means to deliver a cliffhanger and/or plot twist.
A route shorter than the usual one.
The act of taking one's own life.
The big bad is defeated, the world is saved, and any last minute moral decisions are made, but what happens to all your favourite characters after the credits roll? Some games leave that thread hanging, while others use slideshows, cutscenes, or text to explain what life had in store for them.
