Because it makes common sense that they should!
Often times when I'm playing a racing game the biggest threat on the track isn't the enviroments, but they other racers. Grid for instance, was a wonderful game, but it had such an incredably aggressive AI that it would go to these great lengths to make sure you didn't pass then, heck they would even try to rear end you if that was the case.
I'm surprised by Baja and I think it will be difficult to pick between this and Motorstorm 2.

Just like in the actual Baja 1000 races.. you know.. in real life.. If you come up on someone that is going slower than you, just honk and they have a choice to get out of your way or risk the damage of their car. When the race is 1000 miles long, you have a lot of time to make your lead again.
