Band Hero To Bring Pop Music To Your Plastic This November
I like how GH is being milked, but somehow rockband is exempt from that because is HMX. Because Lego Rock Band, Beatles Rock Band, and upcoming Pearl Jam project for Rockband, and weekly dlc is not milking? Is music games, is just new skins, and new tracks for both series, if you like the genre is good.. if you don't like the genre then do not buy it.
They need to suck it up and make one of these that lets you import your own tunes. Yes they would loose out of dlc sales but they could make it up with dlc packs of new singles. Im sure record labels would pay to get the latest emo-tastic single into these kind of games.
I recently came across your blog and have been reading along. I thought I would leave my first comment. I don't know what to say except that I have enjoyed reading. Nice blog. I will keep visiting this blog very often.

Jackson 5 gives me hope. if it includes (but i HIGHLY FUCKING DOUBT, considering the cost!) that some Michael Jackson tunes make their way into this.
" @Kaveman said:Showstopper" Pop music already has enough plastic.AMIRITE??? "DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM"
I hate Activision for this
" The songs are really gonna suck on everything bar the vocals. If they manage to pull that part off well, then who knows? It might be an interesting game. For the first ever time, Im disagreeing with Jeff. "Kinda what SingStar is for though.
" Why not release a Activision dev team simulator game where you try to make the shittiest iteration of a once loved music game? Now THAT would sell "Oh, but the naming is the fun part. Let's see...
Dairy Hero?
Neversoft Hero?
Annualized Asset Monetization Hero?

People think that some how HMX is god, and only that company should be making games.
Lego Rock Band is just as much a milker as Band Hero.
" @sneaky77 said:I see your point and you're making sense. The key point, however, is that the Rock Band games are stellar titles. The GH games since RB launched have all been clones or crap. The bottom line is people actually want more Rock Band. That's why we don't consider it milking. Additionally, by the end of this year, there will be 15 GH games on the market, not counting the ones Harmonix made. There might be like 5 Rock Bands." "EDIT: Also, Traveller's Tales, the team that does all the other Lego games, is in charge of Lego Rock Band. It's Harmonix's brand and they're on board, but TT came up with it and is mostly creating it...from what I heard...on this site...and others..."
HMX set up RB as a platform. I get it and I like the idea. I heve spent a lot of money on DLC for RB/RB2, but what you do not get with a DLC platform in RB is innovation. No new features, no new sets, no new game play. Now with the GH, Activision has been (for the most part) taking steps forward and improving the game. Take a look at the evolution of GH from GH3 to GH:SH, there is a clear line of improvements and additions that have been pretty fun. I personally think GH:M stands out as one of the best fake plastic rock games on the market. It plays great and it looks awesome. And with the new features coming out in GH:5, it stands to be one of the ultimate party games.
I'm not saying that Activision isn't flooding the market. If they continue down this path of game after game with no import funtion and limited DLC, then we might get into some problems. But if HMX is relying on the name power of the Beatles to carry them another year, then the base RB platform is going to feel very old, very stale and not attract new sales.
Just to clarify, I do own GH3, GHWT, GH:M, RB/RB2 and soon GH:SH with a lot of DLC across the board.
" @FlipperDesert:'Twas more a joke on the increasing difficulty of Guitar Hero games paired with a family-friendly songlist, but really?I picked up the No Doubt greatest hits pack for Rock Band, and the drum parts are surprisingly interesting. Some of them are downright HARD, too. I'm looking at you, "New". Although, "Excuse Me, Mr." is a bit frenetic, too."
I'd rather get The Beatles: Rock Band, or maybe GH5 with the drum kit if it comes seperately this time.
I get what you're saying, however, I don't feel like Activision has been innovating with the GH series, really. The big reason there's such a difference between GH3 and GH:SH is they just turned Guitar Hero into a shoddy Rock Band. GH Metallica is certainly the best Activision has done (and probably will ever do) with the franschise, I agree with you there. But I can't fault what Harmonix is doing. RB is a platform and a damn good one. They're not slapping the Beatles name on it to get them through the year. There's a massive demand for a Beatles music game and the best in the business is meeting it. Rock Band 2 was about the songs and they continue to keep up their end of the bargain on that note. You'll get innovation, change, and a mix-up to the formula from HMX for sure. As for right now, the growing stable of "full band" Guitar Hero games still hasn't surpassed the current quality level that Rock Band 2 is at.HMX set up RB as a platform. if band hero is all based on pop music i'm pretty sure they might put Katy Perry's songs on that game.
here's some best songs from katy perry,
-waking up in vegas
-hot n cold
-i kissed a girl (maybe) :P
Guitar Hero 1,2, and 80s: Awesome games, made by Harmonix. Sure 80s was overpriced, but whatever
Guitar Hero 3: Harmonix is gone, isn't as good, but is still pretty fun to play
Guitar Hero Aerosmith: Lacks much replay value and songs, but it's only $20 now and is like Guitar Hero 3, so whatever
Guitar Hero World Tour: Band is nice, but the drums kind of failed, but if you were lucky to get working drums, the game could be entertaining
Guitar Hero Metallica: The Best Activision has done so far. Take most of the big problems in World Tour and chuck them out the window and replace the songs with Metallica songs, and there you go
Guitar Hero Smash Hits: Not much different from Metallica besides the look and the songs
Guitar Hero 5: Looks interesting with it's new features and it looks to be better than World Tour
DJ Hero: A little skeptical, but the gameplay looks interesting and the songs don't look too bad
Guitar Hero Van Halen: Looks like Guitar Hero 5 with Van Halen songs, which isn't necessarily a bad thing
Band Hero:...WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
