The ghost skeleton beluga whale
Baron von Blubba made his debut in the Taito-produced 1986 classic Bubble Bobble.
He is the time limit enforcer in the Bubble Bobble series. Spend too long on any given stage and an ominous tone will play, followed by the appearance of this indestructible ghost whale. Baron von Blubbas spawn on a one to one basis with the number of players on the screen and each Blubba is assigned to kill one of the players. The Baron can only move at right angles and will pause between movements as he lines up his attack. This allows the player to finish the level without death if (s)he is skilled enough at avoiding his attacks.
