Turns out the thing's pretty delightful. Swarms of enemies and a variety of attacks and weapons remind him of the old days. Pretty surroundings and that fellow narrating seem like they're pushing for something new. He'll have to play it more to render a proper verdict, but an hour or two of play left him mightily impressed.

Bastion is a story about a Kid, his hammer, and a world gone all kinds of wrong.
The Kid buys himself a copy of Bastion.
I have to agree with Gamtrailers review, the narrating style doesn't really mesh with the art style (which is fantastic) for some reason. Perhaps it'll grow on me, but initial reaction is that it just feels off somehow. Combat is also quite nice, very fluid and easy to get into. Definitely getting this when the paycheck hits.
If you keep talking in the third person I'm going to beat you up at recess. The kid admits to losing a scrape or two back in the old days, and knows he's risking his hide by continuing down this path. But some part of him just won't let him stop. Like a moth drawn to the deadly flame, he forges ahead.
Would you prefer if some dude made an old wizard impression the whole time to match the fantasy aspect of it? now that would have been incredibly annoying.@GilbertMordinAndSullivan: It's not the fragmentation, it's the tone of voice, he sounds like he's narrating a western.
Also waiting anxiously for the PC release, and keeping my fingers crossed so that my laptop can run it, most likely not though.

I like you.

There's a lot of western influenced things in the game. It fits.
The kid nods in kind with the man who never seems to be Dave.@Pezen said:

Who the hell is The KId?
The protagonist of this game. You know, the game which GB have been previewing for six months or so.
There are four video game characters called The Kid, and quite a few more simply named Kid. It's kind of an understandable mistake, especially when you don't pay attention to previews (I don't want to spoil potential future games by watching previews).@Video_Game_King said:

*Buys PC version and plugs in a controller*I for some reason can't imagine the PC controls feeling..Good.

I'm gonna have to add you as a friend now, LOL.
This kid doesn't want his shoddy imitation tainting your view of something real special. Even though he knows he isn't helping by saying so.If the narration in the game is anything like this thread then I fear I shall pass on this one.
Naw, the kid's just schizophrenic.@GilbertMordinAndSullivan: It's not the fragmentation, it's the tone of voice, he sounds like he's narrating a western.
I got cockblocked when I saw my balance was 1060 points. I'll buy it in the future though, the trial gave me a good first impression.

Will buy PC/PS3 release because oh god that is beautiful. It's like 3D consoles never happened in a good way. I want to support SGG and give them my money.
Don't hold your breath on a PS3 release, do you not own a 360?
As for the "commentary" remarks in some reviews i find it completely fitting, it made the game better IMO.
@onarum: Not necessarily a wizard but an elder of some sort. A voice that perhaps is less in-your-face. But as said, it's possibly one of those things that grows on you and I've merely played through the trial.
@NeverDave: While that may be true, it's more about the overall tone of the art style and that doesn't really scream western.
Also, I'm not saying the voice acting is bad in any way.
