A bladed throwing weapon used by Batman to subdue criminals or blow out tires. Despite being named after boomerangs, they are essentially a bat-stylized shuriken or ninja star. The Batman: Arkham Asylum collector's edition includes an actual 12'' recreation of the weapon.

The Batarang is one of Batman's signature weapons. Its appearance and use is inspired by a Shuriken (A throwing star mainly used by Ninjas) and a Boomerang (A throwing and returning weapon invented by Aboriginals). 
 
It returns like a boomerang, and is sharp and slightly stylized like a Shuriken.
  
The collector's edition of Batman: Arkham Asylum comes with a replica of Batman's batarang.
