I had never read a Batman comic and only saw the movies, but after playing AA I almost instantly googled info on where to start reading the comics and ordered 3 paperbacks (which were all really really good, gonna add to my collection at a steady pace). Anyone else?

You should probably check out Batman Forever. It's where the good live action Batman starts and finishes.

The game didn't get me into the comics, since I was already into them.. but one really good one I've found is Batman & Dracula: Red Rain. Batman versus Dracula may sound kinda ridiculous at first glance, but let me assure you that it is a solid graphic novel, one of the best Batman works.

What got me into Batman was the animated series in the 90's. I later got into the original live-action Batman series from the 60's as well as the movies, but the animated series will forever be the one and only true Batman to me - it's got the right voice cast, the right look and the right level of seriousness. The animated series is the perfect Batman.

Not any more than I already was... So yeah, still marginally interested in Batman.

I was already into Batman

Into Batman? No. Getting excited for future Batman games? Yes.

No I have always liked Batman and him getting all this serious treatment has been fantastic.

The movies are awesome

The game kicked ass.

And Batman the animated series is one of the best cartoons ever made.

Dude, I thought I was the only one in existence who actually prefered that movie to the rest.

 @Topic
I've been into Batman since the forth grade. Batman TAS is where its at. I'll always have a place in my heart for him, but it was nice to see a good game come along featuring the best superhero known to man. I hope the game helps increase his popularity even more.

I was a fan of the animated series in the late 90's and since the writer and voice actors in that series are also in the game. Well... That just makes it awesome. Great game, I wouldn't say I've gotten so far as to buy the comics but it did revitalize my interest in batman. (Even though Dark Knight was amazing)

I think I'll have to give credit to Batman Begins for that one. I did like Batman growing up, but after Batman Begins, I see him a whole different way and really like the guy now. Then The Dark Knight was an awesome follow up and this is a really great game.

I loved the game, but I still couldn't care less about Batman.

I was a fan of the franchise since Batman: TAS, but the game got me to buy some of the classic Batman comics.  I bought DKR, Year One, The Killing Joke, and A Serious House on Serious Earth.

No, I was already into Batman in a big way.

And Batman Forever was shit. Don't listen to that guy.

#16 Posted by Phonics (327 posts) - 3 years, 6 months ago

I have seen every live action Batman movie, liked all of them more or less. Also watched the old ass batman live action TV show from like the 60's? which was hilarious but the wacky side of Batman never appealed to me.

Well I went onto comicvine to read up on him and when I found out that Batman died and now a previous robin who was also the leader of the teen titans is now Batman I ran off into a corner shivering

@Pie:  well from what I've seen the characters of DC universe are used for many different stories at the same time. Some are more suited for the younger audience. Just read the serious stuff.

I was into Batman when I was like 6.  Arkham Asylum was good, but...it's just boring to play for me.  I prefer a more action-packed Batman.  (more like the NES and SNES games)

and why Batman Forever?  It was decent, but what about Batman, Batman Returns, then the Begins series?

Batman Forever is pretty stupid in an enjoyable way but it does have that "Hol(e)y, rusty metal Batman" line in it...

Everything is wrong with Batman Forever.  It's just like that old Batman show with Adam West. And Arnold with his greeeeeeeeeat one liners.

I feel like the comics have been retarded since the 80s except for some good stories here and there.  However, the writers are dumbasses.  Batman has a son.  Dick Grayson is nightwing with a retarded suit.  And the name of the city he patrols is stupid, Bludhaven.  Wow, great choice guys.  Batgirl is paralyzed, so now everyone who cant really fight in the DC universe has genius level intellect, is the case with this broad. Nope, the Animated universe and movies except you know which ones, are great.  Perhaps if there werent 5 robins?  Also the Teen Titan's show is fucking stupid.  How Robin can fight giant robots and kick them is dumb.  Batman would never try that.  He would beat them with his mind.
Also, Arnold would be great at Mr Freeze.  Remember, Schumacher ruined those last two movies.  He wasnt the only bad part, just stood out.  Had they actually written a good movie, he would have been better.  Remeber, George Clooney was there, his part wasnt too hot either. Lets run down the list shall we?
Bat credit card
Batgirl
Arnolds lines
Bat skates
Bane being mentally retarded
Commissioner Gordon being an idiot
Robin snowboarding
Bat nipples
Bat ass

Yeah, Batman and Robin was even worse. 'Ice to meet you' haha.

But Tommy Lee Jones was terrible in that movie, he was just doing a cheap Joker impression and the writers completely missed the point of Two Face. His thing is about chance being the only way to come to a fair conclusion because it is free from bias etc, and then he just flips the coin until he gets the result he wants, ignoring the characters defining motivation.

Robin is a character I just don't like anyway, but the film made him completely unlikeable, he's just irritating.

And some of the writing is terrible. At the end when Two Face says 'Ah Bruce, you always were a good friend', if you're not a Batman fan there is no evidence in the film that the characters were ever friends or knew each other apart from as Batman and Two Face.

Having said that, I thought Val Kilmer was a fairly decent Batman, and Jim Carrey was a pretty good Riddler.
