Have the reviews swayed you to buy the game?
There's stuff I'm more interested in coming later this year. 10-12 hours isn't worth $60...Even if it's 10-12 hours awesome Bat time.
I am strongly, strongly considering it. Before, I really wanted to rent it. Due to some of the games that I want to save up for, though, I think I'm gonna stick to the latter idea still.
I was vaguely interested when I first heard comparisons to Bioshock, but none of the videos or images convinced me that it was anything more than a typical, though very good looking, comic property game. The announcement of the voice actors from the classic animated series hooked me a little bit, but still didn't make this a must purchase. The demo, while solid, actually brought my level of excitement for the game down a little bit because I started to fear that the brawling and stealth sequences might quickly become repetitive.
It wasn't until the overwhelmingly positive reviews started coming in that I got absolutely psyched to play this game. I actually just earlier today ordered the game on Amazon.
I beat the game this afternoon. I just want to put it out there that you really probably should buy this game. It has its flaws, but it's still one of the most enjoyable games this year so far.
The best thing about it is the way Arkham Asylum essentially becomes a character. It's packed with little bits and bobs of interest. It forces you to explore, and rewards you for doing so.
The closest thing I can compare it to is Bioshock.

Playing it is what sold me on the game. The reviews just confirmed the feeling I already had about it.
I'm getting a "drink the koolaid" vibe in general from most outlets right now. I don't trust a game where nobody has a dissenting viewpoint. Not to say its bad, but if someone reads a good handful of these nob shining reviews then jumps in, their expectations couldn't possibly be met.

Considering there are other games with less than that, that are worth it, I don't get that! :-P That being said, I would also argue that value should never be judged by its time (for the most part) since its the experience that matters.
As for the OT, I am going to pass. There is enough stuff coming out later this year that I will save my limited budget for. Though I would like to get Batman, there's others that are more important to me.

Ditto, it looks good, but theres alot of stuff coming out that looks much, much better. Especially if you can only afford 2-3 games this side of christmas.
I don't really like Batman and I have a very limited budget for games this fall, so, no matter what the reviews say, I don't plan on picking it up.
i have gamefly, ill rent it and love.... i only have to pay around 130 bucks a year to rent games.. thats like 2 full price games for 20-25 games i rent and play a year....
" @HoldenLaFayette said:Same here, I'm probably only going to get one or two more games this year. So i'm waiting to see if any other titles turn out to be more fun." I already don't have the money to buy the three or four games that I am heavily anticipating for this year. Sadly, Batman: AA is not on that list.
I'd link you to my review but the mods don't seem to like me doing that, so I'm afraid I can't. It's online now though. If you perhaps look at my bio you might find out how to find the review should you be interested.
That's all I'm saying before I get banned.
I see reviews as entertainment value first hand, and second as a source of information, and only third do i consider the reviewers opinions.

my thoughts exactly
Not really. I wasn't interested in the game before it came out, and my feelings about the it have stayed the same post launch.
The demo was okay, but it wasn't quite as amazing as some people seemed to be making it out to be.
