Batman: Arkham Asylum puts you behind the cowl of the iconic Dark Knight, fighting his way through Arkham Asylum to stop the Joker from enacting a sinister plot that would have grave consequences for Gotham City.
is this te best stealth game ever made
just finised batman arkham asylem and ustthought it was an absolutely amazing game? apart from the occasional cheesy line from b man it was soo good. bw before the critics pour in, fine it isnt really a stealth game but u get he idea
" This should be in the Batman: AA forum. "Could also be under stealth concept.
Anyway, I ain't done with this game, but as far as pure stealth is concerned, I think Splinter Cell: CT and Hitman: BM take the cake. Batman's stealth is great, but I think it lacks the stealth purity of the other games I mentioned to compete in this category, IMO.
It has stealth elements. I'm not sure if it's a stealth game.
Besides, Metal Gear Solid 2 & 4 rule all.
The honorary title of 'Best Stealth Game(s)'pretty much goes to the Splinter Cell series.
The stealth mode is a neat addition in B: AA, but most certainly not the best implemented in a game.
I played the game and it was a lot of fun; the raving reviews are just, but i'm not much of a Hunter/Gatherer so i did not collect every single riddler icon you could find.
Uh, I havn't played the full game, but I doubt it's as good, stealth wise, as any Splinter Cell or MGS game.
It basically plays like a simplified Splinter Cell (during the stealth parts at least) which is good, but I definitely woudn't say it's a stealth game, let alone the best one out there. But I think it suceeds because it's able to mix elements like stealth, with a lot of other genres, all of which are equally strong.
I'm happy to see Arkham Asylum doing so well, it could even be GoTY and I'm very glad to see Marvel games studios have taken notice and realised that although pumping out crappy liscenced games is a good way to make a quick buck.. Making a quality product is going to make even more. And of course, it keeps us consumers happy. I can't imagine anyone who played the first Iron Man game is looking forward to the sequel, where as people are already frothing at the mouth for another Arkham Asylum.
The "stealth" parts in this game suck the big one. Every time you make a hit Joker gets on the intercom to tell everyone and the stupid collars go off.
The demo showed the great potential of the stealth mechanic but they completely botched it in the full game.
The 'best' stealth game is Tenchu. The very first one. Travel back in time and recall your lost youth and naivité. Pick up Tenchu, beat every mission with a 'Ninja Master' rating and come back to the current time and tell me, anything but Tenchu deserves the best stealth game award.
Other than that, Batman Arkham Asylum is so much more, than just a stealth game. And it does it all well. Exploration, brawling, puzzling, collecting - Bioshock meets Metroidvania. Classic. First game, I actually care about the collectibles ever. It must be, because of those awesome in-game collectible maps. I love them. Why don't other games with collectibles give us maps? I actually go for them, if I get an in-game map.
Anyways, whatever my or your opinion is on the matter of 'best' stealth game, Batman Arkham Asylum is a ton fun to play. It's like Bioshock with fists and clowns. Best singleplayer experience I had this year so far.
I don't think anything will dethrown Spilnter Cell: Chaos Theory, that was the best stealth game ever made.

"I thought Batman was a DC character.
" It has stealth elements. I'm not sure if it's a stealth game. Besides, Metal Gear Solid 2 & 4 rule all. "This man speaks the truth.

I agree 1,000,000%
I have not played the full game so I cannot say either way, but I can hazard a guess it's a firm no according to the replies.
Only played the demo so far. I may get the game next week friday.
It has a pretty cool stealth mechanic but not a patch on Splinter Cell or Thief like people have been mentioning. Metal Gears terrible story always got in the way of me enjoying the Metal Gear games but when you are playing the stealth is pretty decent if not far too forgiving.
