This should be in the Batman: AA forum.

And also, no. That would go to Splinter Cell: CT, or Thief.
#4 Posted by MetalR (422 posts) -

Spliter Cell, Thief and Hitman are all better.

Pandora Tomorrow and Chaos Theory both beat Batman.

No,  this shouldn't be in any forum XD

Could also be under stealth concept.

Anyway, I ain't done with this game, but as far as pure stealth is concerned, I think Splinter Cell: CT and Hitman: BM take the cake. Batman's stealth is great, but I think it lacks the stealth purity of the other games I mentioned to compete in this category, IMO.

It has stealth elements. I'm not sure if it's a stealth game.

Besides, Metal Gear Solid 2 & 4 rule all.

Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, Hitman: Blood Money, Theif: First Two > Batman: Arkham Asylum

Also....Post 499, weeee!

It isn't a stealth game, you know.

#11 Posted by GunnBjorn (2911 posts) -

The honorary title of 'Best Stealth Game(s)'pretty much goes to the Splinter Cell series.
The stealth mode is a neat addition in B: AA, but most certainly not the best implemented in a game.
I played the game and it was a lot of fun; the raving reviews are just, but i'm not much of a Hunter/Gatherer so i did not collect every single riddler icon you could find.

So why does this forum even exist?
#13 Posted by CowMuffins (1760 posts) -

Uh, I havn't played the full game, but I doubt it's as good, stealth wise, as any Splinter Cell or MGS game.

#14 Posted by dexterslu (290 posts) -

Not at all, Splinter Cell: CT and MGS by a long shot.

#15 Posted by suneku (2997 posts) -

It has a good stealth mechanic, but it's no where near as good as MGS or SC as been said.

#16 Posted by WinterSnowblind (7616 posts) -

It basically plays like a simplified Splinter Cell (during the stealth parts at least) which is good, but I definitely woudn't say it's a stealth game, let alone the best one out there.  But I think it suceeds because it's able to mix elements like stealth, with a lot of other genres, all of which are equally strong.

I'm happy to see Arkham Asylum doing so well, it could even be GoTY and I'm very glad to see Marvel games studios have taken notice and realised that although pumping out crappy liscenced games is a good way to make a quick buck..  Making a quality product is going to make even more.  And of course, it keeps us consumers happy.  I can't imagine anyone who played the first Iron Man game is looking forward to the sequel, where as people are already frothing at the mouth for another Arkham Asylum.

The stealth aspect is pretty weak compared to Splinter Cell, so I'd say no.

You all seem to forget games like Thief. SHAME ON YOU!

#19 Posted by TwoOneFive (9459 posts) -

metal gear solid 4 is better. as long as you play stealthy and try not to kill anyone

#20 Posted by RHCPfan24 (8609 posts) -

I guess you can consider this partly a stealth game, but it definitely is not one as a whole. Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is my favorite, pure stealth game. MGS4 is also partly stealth, or total stealth; it depends on how you play it. That would be my #1 choice probably.

#21 Posted by sig492 (1 posts) -

It's the best stealth game i have ever played (or the only one).

#22 Posted by addictedtopinescent (3645 posts) -

Not best Stealth game, but rather one of the best uses of stealth mechanics in a non stealth game

#23 Posted by CoverlessTech (746 posts) -

The "stealth" parts in this game suck the big one. Every time you make a hit Joker gets on the intercom to tell everyone and the stupid collars go off.

The demo showed the great potential of the stealth mechanic but they completely botched it in the full game.

The 'best' stealth game is Tenchu. The very first one. Travel back in time and recall your lost youth and naivité. Pick up Tenchu, beat every mission with a 'Ninja Master' rating and come back to the current time and tell me, anything but Tenchu deserves the best stealth game award.

Other than that, Batman Arkham Asylum is so much more, than just a stealth game. And it does it all well. Exploration, brawling, puzzling, collecting - Bioshock meets Metroidvania. Classic. First game, I actually care about the collectibles ever. It must be, because of those awesome in-game collectible maps. I love them. Why don't other games with collectibles give us maps? I actually go for them, if I get an in-game map.

Anyways, whatever my or your opinion is on the matter of 'best' stealth game, Batman Arkham Asylum is a ton fun to play. It's like Bioshock with fists and clowns. Best singleplayer experience I had this year so far.

SC: Chaos Theory is the only stealth game. For me, Pandora Tomorrow was kinda meh.

I don't think anything will dethrown Spilnter Cell: Chaos Theory, that was the best stealth game ever made.

I thought Batman was a DC character.

I have not played the full game so I cannot say either way, but I can hazard a guess it's a firm no according to the replies.

Only played the demo so far. I may get the game next week friday.

#32 Posted by evanbrau (1162 posts) -

It has a pretty cool stealth mechanic but not a patch on Splinter Cell or Thief like people have been mentioning. Metal Gears terrible story always got in the way of me enjoying the Metal Gear games but when you are playing the stealth is pretty decent if not far too forgiving.

#33 Posted by LiquidPrince (15946 posts) -

Metal Gear Solid holds that trophy.

Pretty good game, NOWHERE near the best Stealth game ever.
Does MGS ring a bell?

I haven't played the game yet but I think Metal Gear would like a word with you.
