    Batman: Arkham Asylum Review 1

This is the best Batman game ever made. This is perhaps the best comic-based game ever made. It's probably also the best stealth-action game this year. So, what makes this such a great game?It makes you think like Batman. It's that simple. You have to think like Batman in order to survive. There are three aspects to Batman: Arkham Asylum. The brawler, where you're dropped into a room of unarmed goons and have to knock them all out. The predator, where you're dropped into a room of armed goons a...

Holy 5 star review Batman! 3

Batman, Batman, Batman! Where to begin with Batman: Arkham Asylum. First off this game is well worth the price of admission. From the opening interactive cinematic that has you as Batman ecsorting the Joker back into the bowels of the namesake asylum, to the final ( & somewhat) anti-climatic batlle with ol' Ruby Lips himself, this is a ride worth taking. Not since MGS4 has a game pulled you into it's storyline with great voice acting & dialogue that is this crisp, engaging, & in the ...

You'd be insane not to enroll at Arkham Asylum 0

NOTE: I used an Xbox 360 pad to play Batman: Arkham Asylum. There have been many Batman games over the past few years which have tried to capture the essence of the comic book hero, but none have captured it quite like Arkham Asylum, not by a long stretch. Make no mistake; if you want to play a game that truly honours the Batman source material, you need to play Arkham Asylum. The game starts off with Batman apprehending The Joker and returning him to Arkham Asylum, you first gain control of Batma...

The game Gotham needs, or the game Gotham deserves? 2

I always envisioned that the ideal Batman game would be encapsulated in a sandbox. Imagine it now; patrolling the streets of in the Batmobile, beating up thugs and keeping the citizens safe from crime and itself. Unfortunately, recent sandbox games, both with real superheroes (Spiderman: Web of Shadows, Superman Returns) and imitation heroes (Infamous, Prototype) have taught me better. All of those games featured redundant gameplay mechanics realized the notion that the life of a superhero is...

Inmates aren't the only ones crazy for Batman: Arkham Asylum 0

Simple and satisfying martial art combat, stealthy take-downs,  bat shaped gadgetry, and detective intelligence gathering are all delivered so well in Batman: Arkham Asylum that you will leave this game with no less than a wonderful taste in your mouth. How that taste got there is due to the interesting character interaction between Batman, his allies, and the villains that fans and newcomers alike will find intriguing, humorous, and authentic.  The bottom line is this game is really fun and you...

Batman: Arkham Asylum Review 86/100 0

Overview Batman: Arkham Asylum is good. I stress this greatly. If Arkham Asylum were a bath, it would be comfortably warm but lacking bubbles. There are so many things done wrong, it's a shame because the things done right make it a pleasure to play. Let's break it down. Presentation 43/50  8/10 Graphics - It’s getting too common these days to say a game has ‘good graphics’. Most of them do and so does Arkham Asylum. Batman’s model accumulates a number of cuts and tears as he progresses and mo...

    Batman Beyond our expectations 0

This is just so manly. Srsly. We've all told stories, joked about and generally shunned the genre of video-games that is 'licensed material' at some point or another, so it would be difficult to blame you for having some doubts about Batman: Arkham Asylum. As well as that when Lego Batman is the best Batman game in approximately 18 years, well, let's face it, you might start getting a little worried about your franchise. However Arkham Asylum does stand on it's own merits. It has a lengthy enou...

A Great Game for Hardcore Fans and Gamers Alike 0

In my opinion Batman: Arkham Asylum was going to be just another comic book game that was destined to suck due to the fact that it was a comic book game.  As more and more footage of it came out I became more and more interested. Also, as more and more time went on I wanted the game to suck less and less. My excitement and expectations for it was built up by the hype and constant delays and in short: all were surpassed.  Batman: Arkham Asylum was develo...

A Game That Truly Makes You Feel Like The Dark Knight. 0

Batman has always had a hard time in the world of games. For some reason developers have never truly been able to nail the feel of The Batman, until now. Batman: Arkham Asylum is the game fans of The Caped Crusader have been waiting for with an excellent presentation and satisfying game play that truly makes you feel like The Dark Knight. The game is an original story that has Batman, voiced by Kevin Connroy of Batman: The Animated Series fame, trapped inside the infamous Arkham Asylum, a prison...

The Dark Knight Rises, or in this case, swoops down. 1

With both Batman Begins and The Dark Knight, Christopher Nolan achieved sophistication with a character and a universe that had been stuck in shitty comic book revisions for decades. While Batman always had the potential to be an interesting character, he never seemed as vivid to me as his super-villain counterparts. (Notice I say vivid instead of, say, lifelike; because honestly, there’s nothing lifelike about an eleven-foot tall crocodile mutant, or most of these characters if you really think...

The Caped Crusader Punches His Way Into Our Hearts 0

Rocksteady Studios had to overcome a lot of public doubts with Batman: Arkham Asylum. The Batman franchise has suffered numerous releases of sub-par games that have really marred the Caped Crusader's reputation with gamers. Given the fact that comic book games have a notorious reputation for being either hit-or-miss, it was difficult for a lot of people (including me!) to accept the fact that an original Batman IP could ever be any good. Fortunately, we were all proven wrong. Arkham Asylum open...

Batman:  Arkham Asylum Written by: L.T.I don’t ussually get pumped up about batman games, I mean who does. When I first saw the preview for this I thought "just another lame batman game". When it came out i saw a lot of it on gaming sites like IGN and Gamespot and they all had excellent reviews. I then decided to download the demo and during the session I thought "I need more of this, this is great!" so I took my leftover christmas money and purchased the game. playing through the game my mi...

    The best of everything 0

We've all heard enough of the rhetoric already- Batman: Arkham Asylum is not only the best Batman game ever made, but also the best comic book game ever made. While that's all certainly true, it's also selling the game way too short. Batman: Arkham Asylum shouldn't be limited by the mediocre competition provided by past comic book games, as it's good enough to be judged by the same standards as the best games out there. Batman: Arkham Asylum is, simply put, an absolutely fantastic video game by ...

    The Joker Sucks 0

Playing as the Joker is a pretty interesting twist, but his weapons are limited, he's hard to maneuver and it can get frustrating at times. You just don't feel... powerful and in control like you do when you play as Batman. But then again, this add-on is free so no complaints from me......

    Batman Arkham Asylum Review 0

Step into the boots of the Dark Knight as you visit Arkham Asylum to watch Joker get checked back in. Unfortunately that's where the routine-ness ends as all hell breaks loose and all the inmates start taking over the Asylum. Joker heads of the crew of super villains as he has a special surprise for Batman, but he wants to make sure everything is ready before you can see it, so you'll have to battle through characters such as Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, and Scarecrow. You'll also have...

BATMAN'S IN FOR ONE HELL OF A NIGHT AT ARKHAM ASYLUM! 0

BATMAN'S IN FOR ONE HELL OF A NIGHT AT ARKHAM ASYLUM!There is a reason why Batman is so beloved by so many people, he's human afterall and one of the easiest comic book characters to relate to. He can't fly naturally, he can't shoot webs from his wrists and the last time I checked he wasn't able to become an angry green monster of destruction. It's because of all these factors that Batman as stayed in the hearts of comic book fans, movie lovers and gamers. While Batman's recent movie adventures ...

    Holy awesome videogame, Batman! 0

It’s understandable to be a little sceptical coming into Batman: Arkham Asylum. Whenever developers Rocksteady have shown trailers, gameplay and screenshots, the game has looked fantastic; but that uncontrollable doubt is always lingering in the back of the mind purely because it’s a licensed comic book videogame. For that reason alone, Arkham Asylum is the surprise game of the year. It might not be difficult to exceed such minimal expectations, but the Dark Knight has gone so far above and beyo...

An amazingly well crafted adventure in every way. 0

Batman Arkham Asylum has a long legacy of comic book to video game adaptations behind it.  Unfortunately, that legacy is one of shame and, to be frank, simply bad games.  For that reason I was skeptical when I first heard of Arkham Asylum, but it didn't take long after actually seeing the game in action for me to hope against all hope that this game was actually going to be different.  Different, as in, good.  Amazingly, my hopes were not only met, but exceeded by this game, which could possibly...

Only The Insane Would Avoid This Game 1

Nobody really expects a game based around a comic book character to be very good. Multiple games in the past have tried to pull off this feat, but none have come anywhere close to Batman: Arkham Asylum. This game utterly surprised me. After playing the demo, I was hooked. Everything about it seemed so polished and so refreshing that it was hard to pass up. The quality of the package is so high that it's unlikely anyone would be disappointed.  Great, now you've done it The game beings with Batman...

Batman is an Incredible Experience and is clearly this years Bioshock (a game with such high quality it surprises even the fans).  I don't want to get into a detailed description like most reviews concerning the Free Flowing Combat & Detective elements being satisfying, or how the Stealth is slick, or how the gadgets are cool.  Just know it all works well and is fun.  What I really want to let readers know is how Arkham Asylum and The Joker are really this games "Aces up it Sleeve" (see what...

Arkham Asylum ups the superhero game bar considerably 1

Ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-ba-Batman-Batman-Batman! Batman has always been one of the most beloved of comic book franchises, and with 2008's The Dark Knight, such resounding success was had that even people who didn't care about any superhero shenanigans enjoyed watching Bruce Wayne doing his thing. In the world of video games, superhero games are generally looked upon apprehensively. True, there have been some good ones, such as The Incredible Hulk, but there's no denying gamers are right...

Dark and excellent, Arkham Asylum captures the essense of Batman. 0

From Eidos and Rocksteady studios comes the best Batman game ever made.   This may initially seem like a backhanded compliment considering the poor quality of most Batman (or even DC Comics) licensed games to date, but Batman: Arkham Asylum is an absolute must-play title. Arkham Asylum applies the Batman license to gameplay elements pulled from a variety of sources, and it ties them together very well.   Many have compared Arkham to Bioshock, which is fitting.   Throughout the game, reel-to-re...

This Review May Contain Spoilers (such as the names of villians).   "More times than not, when a company doesn't have a movie tie-in, or some famous license to follow they can create more inventive and all around better things than if they did have some license to follow."    That was the first line in my inFamous review. Technically proficient and better than the sum of its parts! 0

After the summer draught I’ve been looking forward to the new releases. After the seemingly mediocre Wolfenstein I decided to purchase Batman, the stronger of the two. Batman does leave a very strong first impression. It is a solid product without any real technical flaws. The graphics are great without any real dips in framerate and loading times are nearly non-existent (while playing of HD).  I’m not going to go into any depth in analyzing the story, it is enough to drive the gameplay with th...

A super hero based title that hangs with the triple-A big boys? 0

Could it be? A super hero based title that hangs with the triple-A big boys? Since I feel this game is a 9/10, I’d say so. I played this joint on the xbox360, it’s also out for PS3 and PC. The Good – Awesome 3rd person adventure that juggles many gaming styles. Obviously you play as Batman, who captures the Joker, while transporting him to Arkham Asylum, Joker gets loose and has sinister plans in place, taking over the asylum and trying to put Batman through a night of hell. The definitive Batman 0

Forget about the movies, this game is the definitive Batman. It’s remarkable that super hero video games are usually lame, when you consider how awesome the source material is. This game is a refreshing change. Batman is awesome, and most importantly true to form. What makes the game so good, is the fact that it tries to capture Batman as Batman, as best as it can. The result is that the game is awesome. The melee combat is hands down the best I’ve ever seen for hand to hand against multiple enem...

A triumph for not just licensed games but gaming overall- 0

Lets be honest here Licensed games have a bad reputation and superhero games have always been some of the worst when it comes to licensed games. Batman: Arkham Asylum is not a bad game, its not an average game, its a stellar game and one of the standout titles of the year.   When B:AA was announced it was partially shunned for being announced around the time of "The Dark Knight" release in theaters and some assumed the game would just be a crappy tie-in.        He's totally Batman Batman Arkham Asylum has garnered quite a bit of hype since it was first revealed. The Dark Knight returns 0

As far as comic book characters go, Batman has been treated better by videogame developers than say Superman. Nonetheless most people would say he hasn't enjoyed a good game since the original Batman game on the NES. That changes dramatically with Arkham Asylum which is not only a fantastic Batman game, it's an original and solid title all in it's own right.      Arkham Asylum's atmosphere is unmatched and sets the perfect tone throughout. It feels suitably gritty as most people want their Ba...

I've been waiting to play Batman: Arkham Asylum for a good long time know. I was excited by the initial buzz and surprised by the reviews. I even bought the game as a gift to my cousin. As gaming goes however I was otherwise occupied and only got around to playing it this year (2011). Batman is back and is facing his biggest challenge yet! All the crooks Batman has ever faced have united under Jokers banner and have taken over Arkham Asylum. Will Batman thwart whatever Joker has planned up his sleeve? Better yet, was Rocksteady able to bring the classic DC comic hero to life in an interactive Video Game? Batman Arkham Asylum is a very ambitious game. On the one hand you have the stealth gameplay and exploration techniques, on the other you have the beat-em-up action and problem solving abilities. These both lie on top of a very in-depth universe and compelling story. But do they all work well together? Do they live up to your expectation of what being Batman would be like?.... By now, everyone pretty much knows Batman: Arkham Asylum was not only a big surprise but that it became a serious contender for GOTY of 2009. A comic book character who's never really been in an actually good game, an unknown developer and they somehow managed to make not only a great comic book game but a game anyone can enjoy even if they didn't know Batman's comic book roots. Graphically gorgeous, well-told story and some downright genius pacing, even the minor blemishes I can throw at it are...

Arkham Asylum is a must-play, no matter who you are. 3

Batman doesn't exactly have a good history when it comes to video games. The best thing you can say about the Batman games is that some of them are decent. But Arkham Asylum has abandoned the generic, repetitive beat-em-up structure that made other games in the same universe so dull and has instead opted for an experience that's part stealth, part action and part exploration. The result is a game that's not only a fantastic Batman game, but an incredible achievement in its own right. The stealth...

Time to play the choking game?Arkham Asylum served as one of those out-of-left-field titles of 2009. Developed by Rocksteady, whose only other published title was Urban Chaos: Riot Response, they aimed to create a game based on the super-popular Batman character, given the hype the movies were getting at that time. This had the entire world gazing on this game with the stigma of many sub-par superhero licensed games they had to endure prior to its release.I have always been proud to say that Ark...
