    Really Fun And Enjoyable 0

I personally played it four times three times as a kid and once as a teenager. I never finished it until the fourth time but I did enjoy the good combat, the fair amount of gadgets, and the main story. At first it just seems like another batman game beat up bad guys and fight joker but no we got a good cast of og villain like, Joker, Harley, Scarecrow, Killer Croc, Poison Ivy, and my favorite Bane. The game is fun and has enough content for you to come back even after the main story....

Bow Down to the Dark Knight Once Again... 0

Note: The PS3 version's exclusive downloadable content of the Joker challenge maps will be also mentioned in this review. Plus, the videos may contain possible spoilers, so watch at your own risk. The gaming industry gods have not been so kind to the Batman ever since the NES days. Sure, there might be some Batman games that are somewhat decent, but the majority of them are pretty bad. Even with last year's amazing success that is the Dark Knight movie, it seems like things are going right for t...

Batman is pure fun from start to finish. 0

Batman Arkham Asylum is one of the few licensed super hero games that does justice to the hero it is representing. What makes it great? For starters, the game has a great story that fits perfectly with the batman world. Secondly, it has the great atmospheric music and voice talent from the Batman cartoon series (this means recognizable voices for the characters in the game and good delivery of script lines). Lastly, combat mechanic and implementation of all things batman (gadgets at your dispos...

Finally A Good Batman Game 0

Hulk Ultimate Destruction and now Batman Arkham Asylum. There have not been that many great comic book games but those two stand out. Wolverine Uncaged was done well but not in the class of Batman and Hulk. We can only hope that Iron Man 2 shows up. Overall Batman gets it right with the story and combat. The gargoyles can be repetitive but it fits in the universe. Batman’s universe is fully realized with the villains. Scarecrow and Bane lesser known but come to life in Arkham. I do not give man...

    Best Comic Book Game 0

When I first heard of Batman: Arkham Asylum, My expectations were very low, Mostly because of the first and only Batman game I play, Batman Forever, God I hated that game. So, I said to myself, Yeah that's cool, a new Batman game and the got some of the old voice actors form Batman: the animated series, I may check it out. But after play the Demo, I was so off, It was fun. Now that I finished it, I can say that Batman: Arkham Asylum is The Dark Knight of the Batman games. It's an outstanding gam...

Arkham does for gaming what Batman Begins did for Movies 4

It's rare that a vidoe game does so many things right, especially a comic book based video game.  Superb graphics, with a wonderfull comic book aesthetic and moody color pallet.  Top notch voice acting to support a fun story.  And controls that are  flowing and graceful...   Go buy this game!...

Arkham Asylum is simply an incredible achievement... 1

Wow, a game based on a comic book, you know thats gonna suck; wait what? I cant believe im saying this, but Batman Arkham Asylum is Amazing! Why? honestly, i cant really explain it, you just HAVE to try this sucker out. You probably expect this to be a simple and linear game with boring art and level design, but its the exact opposite. Yeah, its an open world; but in a metroid-bioshock kind of way. To put it in a more simple prospective, it has Bioshock's art, Metroid's exploring, and Assassin's...

More Than Just The "Best Comic Game" 0

To say that Batman: Arkham Asylum is the best comic book game ever made is to do the game a disservice. Think about it. Most games based on comics are average at best, with only a few rising to greatness. Arkham Asylum easily leaves all of those games in the dust with its superb graphics, varied game play, and compelling characters. It is much more fitting, then, to say that Arkham Asylum resides comfortably alongside Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter IV as one of the best games of 2009.   From...

The World's Greatest Detective Returns Yet Again!! 0

Batman: Arkham Asylum for the PS3, Xbox 360, and PC is a true masterpiece of gaming. Again and again it has dazzled me with its ability to standout among all of the other gritty current titles that have come out since the release of the now-current gen systems (PS3, Wii, Xbox 360). I have not found anything outstandingly wrong with the game since I started playing it about a week ago.  In Batman: Arkham Asylum, you play as Batman, superhero, detective, and generally all around badass as you make...

    Fantastic pacing, awesome realization 0

What more can be said about Batman: Arkham Asylum that hasn't already been written. Excellent combat, great pacing, a good story in the Batman universe and just an overall fun experience. It goes without saying that this game is easy to recommend but I would extend this to say that if you like games such as God of War or Star Wars: The Force Unleashed you'll love Arkham Asylum. In particular the detective elements of solving Riddler challenges adds some depth and fun to the main story and combat...

Takes a Minute To Get There, But Worth the Trip 0

Batman: Arkham Asylum is based on the DC Comics (recently DC Entertainment) character who has become a cultural touchstone since the brilliant one-two punch of "Batman Begins" and "The Dark Knight" and this game, while taking a little while to rev up, fairly accurately simulates what it must be like to be The Batman. You take control of the titular character as he's bringing his archnemesis the Joker to the sinister Arkham Asylum. Naturally something goes wrong within the first ten minutes of Jok...

    Just play it already. 0

This game is damn near perfect.  The combat is fun, the story is compelling, the voice acting is amongst the best of all time, the graphics are top-notch, yadda, yadda, yadda.  All of this you could read in other reviews, and likely have.  Here are the two reasons I gave it 4.5 stars instead of 5:  1). Combat:  It's fun (as I said), but I couldn't figure out the proper button timing to get a high multiplier score.  This is probably because I'm inept at such things.  I would think that if I worke...

    Batman: AA Review 0

As a fellow Batman fan I was particularly excited for the release of this game. After playing the demo I was lessened in hope, I finally got my hands on it… I was blown away and by blown away I mean, well… you'll have to read my review. All my ratings are x/5.0  (This was taken from my original review and some changes were made.) Graphics //3.0// The graphics were fairly good but felt unrealistic, a little solid, somewhat gritty and dirty. I found several graphical glitches towards the end...

Played Through in Fall 2009. So…you play as this guy…who… really knows his way around a gym. And when he’s not practicing one-liner gruffs in a mirror, he’s out stopping bad guys from doing bad things. But tonight doesn’t go as planned as one of those bad guys, with a smile, gets loose on an Island made for some….REALLY bad guys, which leads to…. even MORE bad things…. It’s Batman vs Joker. Like Mario vs Bowser, Ali vs Fraiser, or Kimbo Slice vs Dakota Fanning, it’s a timeless match-up that we...

    Batman: Arkham Asylum 0

I normally steer clear of licensed video games because of their general crappiness, but there are three reasons why I gave Arkham Asylum a shot. 1) The demo was pretty promising. 2) It had near universal acclaim from critics and friends alike. 3) It's not a rushed product meant to cash in on some movie or something, but a game made as part of the excellent animated series' universe, even written by Paul Dini and starring the voices of Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and the Joker, respe...

Completely badass, incredibly dark and immersive. 0

Let's get this out of the way; Batman is a complete badass. Sure, you comic book fans are now about to send me an angry message saying how Batman is full of morals, so therefore, he is the complete opposite of badass. But dudes, picture this: At the start of the game, a room is filled with noxious gas thanks to the Joker's sadistic work. Two people are hanging off ledges at the top of the room, where the gas is lingering at the bottom. He runs up to the first guy, who is a security guard, and ...

Batman: Arkham Asylum - Facebook Status Update Review 0

"Batman: Arkham Asylum" (2009, Rocksteady Studios) - Surprisingly engaging from start to finish. The titular asylum feels painstakingly crafted and is a pleasure to explore. Although the breadth of combat scenarios impress, large-scale brawls often boil down to button mashing. Combined with a few uninspired bos s fights and one too many Scarecrow encounters, Arkham Asylum falls just short of greatness.    ...

    Batman: Arkham Asylum Review 0

Licensed games are a sorry lot, generally speaking. Maybe it’s because they are often rushed out the door to meet a release date to coincide with a movie. Perhaps it’s due to the second- or third-rate studios that churn them out. Whatever the reason, they show a history of suckage that dates back to E.T. on the Atari 2600 and continues today with titles like Avatar. Every once in a long while, though, a real gem squeaks through this gauntlet of trash and surprises everyone with its quality.Golde...

Great game with one glaring flaw 0

Batman Akrham Asylum is a amazing game.  However, there is one glaring flaw in the game that removes an entire star from this review.  The Bosses.  Out of the many reviews I read it seems as though this problem is hardly ever commented on.  The boss fights are just a bit to similar besides Poison Ivy, every fight seems exactly the same.  The very first boss fight is a fight with a titan-formula injected guy.  The second boss fight is with Bane.  Who is basically the same as the first guy only no...

Batman: Arkham Asylum: Finally, A Game That Does A Comic Justice 0

Playstation 3 cover   Batman – The Caped Crusader, The Dark Knight, Bruce Wayne…he has many names, but no good video games. Sure, games have been created in the vain attempt to capitalize off of a movie or during a comic book resurgence period, but rarely did these games ever amount to anything more than a filler Christmas game that a loved one can get for the gamer in their life. With the recent release of “Batman: Arkham Asylum”, Rocksteady went out on a limb to create something we have rarel...

Not just a good comic book game, but a damn good game 0

Batman Arkham Asylum isn't just a good comic book game.  Its just a good game period.  Rocksteady really took the time and effort to make a quality game and after playing through the game i can say this is one of the top games of 2009.  First off, the story is great.  When they took the time to flesh out a story of one of comic' book favorite villian its hard to have a bad story.  While the main is engaging enough to keep you playing what makes this game ten times better than other comic book ga...

    A wonderful game 0

The worst part about Batman Arkham Asylum is that it's a Batman game.  Not that it captures the spirit of the Dark Knight poorly, it's actually quite good about it, with fabulous voicing and such.  But as someone who's no more than a casual Batman fan I really don't care about that and it's ridiculous dialog and cliches while totally in character are kind of silly.  It's got tons of back story if you're into that sort of thing but I could care less about Poision Ivy's background i know the basic...

Finally! A Good Batman Game! No, Seriously! 0

Batman is one of the most well-known super-heroes of all-time, but definitely not because of his video games. Let’s face it, the only one that was halfway decent was the freakin’ LEGO game. Now, little-known developer Rocksteady Studios has stepped up to the challenge of creating a good Batman.   Not only did they succeed, they made one of the best games of the console generation thus far, Batman: Arkham Asylum.  Pros: - Gameplay that makes you feel like you really are the Dark Knight - Fl...

    REVIEW: Batman: Arkham Asylum 0

I grew up as a fan of Batman.  There are few memories I remember with such fondness as getting the Bat-mobile on Christmas morning or coming home to watch the original Batman cartoon that my grandmother had recorded for me on VHS while I was stuck at school.  Growing up as a Batman-kid, I have been with the “world’s greatest detective” to “the caped crusader” to “the dark knight” and have loved most of the representations of such for differing reasons, however the Arkham Asylum: A Serious House...

Metal Gear Solid meets Metroid 0

This game is amazing and whatever system you own this is a must own! The game play is great too, I love the free flow combat in the game too. It is very smooth and feels great while doing it. I seem to have found myself relying on detective mode a little to much but it didn't bother me as much as it did some people. It feels like Metal Gear Solid because of the way you go around in stealth most of the game and the Scarecrow parts are so amazing they are on par with or even better than the Psyc...

    Well-made, but underwhelming for a non-Batman devotee 0

I can usually appreciate great action/adventure games regardless of whether I'm a fan of the source material. With Batman: Arkham Asylum, however, I really think your enjoyment of this game escalates with how much you love the overall Batman franchise. It's an extremely well-made game at its core, with sumptuous visuals and hyper-detailed textures, immersive environments, and reasonably fun stealth game mechanics and hand-to-hand combat.I just don't necessarily feel this lives up to its Game of ...

This game has the reputation of being one of if not the best Batman games ever released. Almost a year since its release and I’d still say, “Yea it’s freaking awesome.” Maybe this review won’t be helpful to you in your decision to try this game out. Best fight engine since "Perfect Weapon" PSX( if anyone can remember that lol). Played through twice and got nothing extra( bit of a dissappointment) even RE gave you something after beating the game once!  Guess the downloadable extra maps and characters were supposed to be enough lol. Sorry, can't do that. PS(SONY)  should stop trying to be like MS and put the perks back into the games themselves instead of pulling the free downloadable extras crap....

Batman: AA, I should have played it sooner! 0

I am very skeptical about superhero games. Most turn out to be bland, boring, and just flat bad. But Batman: Arkham Asylum delivers on all promises made by the company, critic reviewers, and user reviewers. This game is just fun. The story is entirely believable and the amount of immersion is palpable. You really feel like Batman. Let me start out with the little things that make this game so much fun. 1) Batman's costume and face actually degrade over time. I am not sure if this is ba...

    Batman: Arkham Asylum 0

Finished this a little while ago. Lets get the negatives out of the way first. The boss fights are, in a word, shit. Killer Croc and Ivy stand out as the worst but they were all bad. Having to fight Scarecrow three times was extremely irritating and the final boss fight was a poor way to wrap up an otherwise outstanding game. That was the only big problem I had with it, any other criticisms would be nitpicking. Stuff like lip-syncing (which is quite bad throughout) or the one or two occasions t...

Situation:I bought the game of the year edition new but on sale at Gamestop for $20 for the PS3. I have been wanting to play the game but it sat in my backlog for quite some time. I finally got round to playing the game out of boredom and as soon as I put the game into the system I got sucked in. Which was exactly what I was hoping to do. I played through the game on Easy, collected all the riddler’s trophies and played through the challenges. I’m currently playing through the game again on hard...

Gameplay In Accord With Gotham 0

The Dark Knight tosses The Joker (enthusiastically voiced by Mark Hamill) into Arkham Asylum and inadvertently sets in motion a diabolical scheme to free The Joker’s locked-up cronies and fellow Batman arch nemeses. Thus begins Batman: Arkham Asylum, as well as the player’s quest to track down The Joker and stop his predictably devious plot. Missions are doled out in a liner fashion and take place in one of Arkham Island’s large buildings, with the island’s exterior serving as an impressively la...

Eidos and Rocksteady deliver the authentic Dark Knight experience 0

Despite it being the sole, innate desire of the male species upon our eve of birth, none of us will never actually become Batman.   Most of us lack either the means to possess a subterranean abode littered with hi-tech equipment, or the motivation to hone such perfected skills in martial arts and gadgetry.   Neither of these setbacks in this unpractical ambition suppress the desire however, and so we are collectively drawn to rapidly flowing images of Michael Keaton and Christian Bale galli...

    And Then There's Batman: 0

Over the years I've become jaded.  With each passing movie turned into quick cash in on a superhero video game I've grown to dislike the genre and the subject matter.  Barring a few gems here and there, superhero games as a whole have failed to impress me in any meaningful way, generally resorting to played out beat-em-up mechanics with a fresh skin of your favorite superhero of the quarter.  And then, there's Batman: Arkham Asylum.  Batman: Arkham Asylum pits you (predictably as Batman) against...

Wow. this is one of those games that really frew me in. The best thing about the game is the pacing. you will beat up ten guys at once and then have to kill another six but from the shadows. every mechanic in the game is done very well. Most games now a days will take one of the mechanics and draw it out for 5 or 6 hours. Batman truly makes you feel like a baddass. When I beat the game on normal, I couldn't wait to play on hard and I also can't remeber the time I wanted to find all the secrets i...

First let me tell you that this is the best liscenced superhero game I've ever played (although infamous is slightly better but lets ignore that for now). The first thing I will deal with is the most important the gameplay, it is ALMOST perfect. I say almost because the dectective mode used in the game, while an interesting mechanic sometimes makes the game a little too easy, for example you don't know where to go in the room but you go into the dectective mode and you see a glowing grate to cra...

Pretty good all round. Not too much combat. It did not take me long to fall in love with game, and is probably my favourite game since Bioshock came out two years ago. It boasts fantastic sound in it's score and voice acting (expertly done by the cast of the animated series), great intepretations of all the Batman characters, and a very intuitive and fun combat system.  There are some complaints towards the game's ending, which i have to agree fails in comparison to the rest of the game, but the rest of the story is an absolute treat. Batman Arkham Asylum is a 4 star game, but earns 5 stars for the comic book video game inspired world. It surprisingly has a lot of depth and story for a genre that normally does not and sets the bar high for future titles.   The graphics are amazing and the art style is true to the source material. Controls are at times clunky, but it's nothing you can't look past to really enjoy this gem of a game. Voice acting is superb, combat system is great, and the game is fairly lengthy (10+ hours).
