    Perfection until it finished 0

Batman is a great game with a horribly out of character ending. The game starts with a good run through of part of the asylum to give the mood. And man does it do a good job. This game is dark and it lets you know it. I love the setting and tone that the game sets, and its pacing is consistent all the way through. After the initial opening scenes of the game, you go outside and all preconceptions of this game are shattered. The game opens up, and although you have a specific direction you have t...

Batman sneaks his way into GOTY contention 0

Batman: Arkham Asylum kicks off the pre-winter releases with the weight of expectation bearing down on it like the Dark Knight himself. Promising since its announcement it’s pleasing to discover the game lives up to the hype surrounding it. Despite its minor niggles and loss of imagination in the final acts, the game is a resounding success and much more than the sum of its parts. The premise is simple and inspiring at the same time. Having apprehended the Joker after an attack on City Hall, ...

    Analysing Arkham 1

"The best game I've played all year" - Really? I played Arkham Asylum with, yes, i admit it, a bias. Previously I have disliked most superhero games with a passion. Superman Returns left me with a feeling of emptiness that, in all honestly, i've only felt once before. So yeah, my first play of Arkham Asylum was slightly prejudiced, I was expecting it to be another appalling way for Marvel to suck a few dollars out of an overblown franchise. And do you know what? - I was wrong. My previous quarre...

    Arkham Asylum isn`t just a superhero game, it's a great game. 0

I'll admit, I'm not a huge Batman fan. I know Batman is Bruce Wayne, Joker is awesome, Bain broke Batman's back and some other miscellaneous information about the universe of Batman. But after playing Batman: Arkham Asylum, I not only realize how great all the Batman characters are, but also how to make a successful franchise into a game without making anyone mad. This game is definitely way more than the sum of it's parts. There's fighting, there's stealth, there's exploration and a bit of puz...

The Sun is Shining After a Dark Tomorrow 0

Batman Dark Tomorrow, takes it‘s place as one of the worst video games I have ever played; and I don’t even mean common era I‘m talking about years of video game history dating all the way back to the Atari. So I hope you understand my apprehension of picking up a Batman game developed by “Rocksteady” a development crew that I myself have never heard off. In truth the only reason why I picked up the game was the trio of Paul Dini, Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill, three instrumental cog’s in the ex...

By far the most exciting and well made Super Hero game to date. 0

Batman Arkham Asylum is a surprisingly great game.  In the past, the standards for a game based off of a super hero have been relatively low.  That’s why I was extremely skeptical about the amount of hype this game was getting pre-launch, but once I started playing it I immediately saw why everyone was so excited.  Not only is the game technically sound, but it also feels like a true Batman experience and not just a grab at the success of the Dark Knight movie.   In other words, the guys that m...

More like "really above average action game"-man! 0

Batman: Arham Asylum is not the greatest single player experience I have had this generation.   Now that that's out of the way, I will let you know that Batman: AA is an excellent action adventure game,  and that is more than enough reason for anyone who is a fan of the genre, Batman fan or not, to try out the game without regret.   While games based upon superheroes don't have a tendency to work out all that well, Batman:AA manages to keep the game exciting and enjoyable through the games short...

one of the best superhero games of all time 0

This game was crucial for me.  It was either this, or save my money for Halo 3: ODST.  I sure am glad I chose this.  After playing this game three times through, I can honestly say that it still feels new everytime i play it.  The controls help the game alot by not confusing you with wierd-ass combos where you have to hit a gajillion buttons.  The gameplay to go with those controls keeps it so smooth through combat and other scenes of the sort.  Picking this game to run on the Unreal 3 engine wa...

    This game is great. 0

i had high hopes for this game before I picked it up. When I actually played it, Arkham Asylum surpassed my expectations in the graphics, gameplay, and the natural feel of the controls. I don't want to spoil this game by telling you too much about it. The riddles are very fun to solve so I like that there are 240 of them. From the opening scene this game is beautiful, fun, challenging but not too hard, and very smooth. Load time is next to nothing and the story is seamless. I recommend buying th...

All the way 5 stars. 0

Batman Arkham Asylum is a surprisingly good game. After having played the Demo i thought, "...s'alright", but after having played the game i can tell you that it stands out as one of the best games of the year.  What the demo doesn't show you is the "Metroidvania" style gameplay where you have to upgrade your equipment to get to the next area. The game is made of many parts; exploration, platforming, stealth and combat. The combat is saticfying enough, though the weakest part of the game. You can...

Well this is the first written review. So hey if you wanna be harsh about it, know what your judging.  I will first start with do i think you should buy this game no i don't think it has enough replay value. Second do i think this is a good game yes, i think this game falls under a good game worth playing and renting.    Why i think this, well first the way the games handles story is about what you would expect if you played the demo it's a lot of the style which has some cut seen style, others ...

Batman: Arkham Asylum Review - The definitive Batman game 0

A superhero licence hasn’t exactly been a seal of quality in recent years, so it was a wonderful surprise to find that Batman: Arkham Asylum is an absolute gem of a game. Every moment of the game radiates with love and respect for the source material. Mark Hamill, Kevin Conroy and Arleen Sorkin reprise their pitch-perfect voice roles from the revered animated show, while veteran bat-scribe Paul Dini crafts an epic and enthralling adventure. With so many of Batman’s rogues gallery of villains m...

Great game all the way through 0

I played through this game twice and each time i had a blst doing so. It kept calling me back and i eventually played so much that i managed to scrounge up all 1000 points in this game. The characters were astounding especially Mark Hammil as the joker. The combat was addicting, even if your just mashing on the x button, somehow it just seems like more. Everything about this game is so well polished fun that even after getting all the points  i still have the itch to play more. I just wish they ...

Batman Arkham asylum is a real tribute to the Batman legacy, the game focuses on a more serious grittier Batman in keeping with the new movies, however the games able to carve its own identity with a confident take no crap Batman who's about as much of a psychopath as the villains he's chasing. To Put it simply you wont find Batman dancing in this game.   Arkham asylum starts of with Batman escorting a captured Joker to Arkham asylum where it becomes clear that its all just part the of the joke...

Maybe the best Batman game ever made. 0

Batman: Arkham Asylum is terrifically paced action adventure with tight controls, great visuals and memorable voice acting. Everyone who considers himself a gamer should absolutely play it. LUNATICS ARE LOOSE Game takes place in the course of a one night. Batman is delivering the Joker to Arkham island but of course he escapes and takes entire island as a hostage. Now it’s up to Batman to find out what’s going on and try to stop joker. Story is paced in a way that you never feel bored in ...

    Looks like batman 1

How can someone give this game a half-star? It looks good, the mechanics are there, also exceptional scenes in the game....  Essentially, Batman: Arkham Asylum plays out like a masochistic fantasy, which is morbid considering that it takes place in Arkham Asylum. Perhaps the actual art/beauty of this game, is how much it makes you feel like a slave, while actually sort of being a slave half the time.  What I mean by this, is while playing the game, you are faced with the same 4 monsters the enti...

GET COMMITTED TO ARKHAM ASYLUM When it comes to licensed games, I’m always very skeptical. We have all been burned too many times in the past seeing some of our favorite characters, movies, TV shows etc.. being completely butchered in video game form. This is not the case for the latest Batman game. Arkham Asylum is a true gem. The game excels at making you feel like you are Batman. The controls are very intuitive and allow you to use all of Batman’s skills and gadgets to pure perfection. Eidos...

    Very true to Batman 0

I have never played a super hero game that captured the feel of a character better than this game does.  Using the same voices that did the work in the Batman, Batman Beyond, Superman, and Justice League TV series really makes this game feel like Batman.  Mark Hamil (Luke Skyewalker) is the voice of the Joker, and he does a fantastic job as always.  The gameplay is solid.  Batman has his usual arsenal of toys, and all of them work very well.  There is a nice mix of stealth and combat, though I w...

One of the best licensed games ever. 0

This is without a doubt one of the best licensed games I have played.  I know that there aren't a lot of great licensed games but there are some and this game to me outshines them all.  The story is more than adequate and it is delivered by as good of voice acting anywhere put on top of some top notch graphics.  No the combat isn't complex but it isn't horrible either it just isn't anything new or special.  I challenge anybody to play this game and not smile at the sense of power that Batman giv...

Batman is Finally Given the Game he Deserves 0

Batman's history in gaming is, to be gentle, mixed. Like all DC Comics properties, his games have tended to suck. Not as bad as Superman (and, suffice to say, not nearly as bad as Aquaman), Batman's games have usually had little to do with the character himself and have just been tedious side scrollers with nothing really special about them.Rocksteady has taken its shot at this character whose games have tended to underwhelm (see Batman Begins on XBox/PS2). And they absolutely nailed it ...

Could a Batman game have been any better ? 0

Batman : Arkham Asylum is by far the greatest Batman / Superhero / Comic-theme game ever made. But it is much more than that. It represents a new superlative for stealth-based action games and is one of the best games I have played, not just in 2009, but across multiple generations and genres.   Welcome to Arkham Asylum Batman ! The story here is pretty standard comic book stuff. Batman has apprehended   Joker   who doesn’t seem the least bit bothered by his predicament (In fact, he rather...

Why did I drive my Batcar into the river? 0

I'm a year late on this one, but despite its age I was very happy with Batman: Arkham Asylum.  The atmosphere of the game was great.  There were times that it felt a little too gritty.  Batman would say something or do something that feels completely wrong, but that's what Batman is all about.  He's been avoiding killing people for over 50 years . . . so there's no surprise when he avoids taking out a badguy.    For the most part, the story was a side note to the nostalgia.  I found myself playi...

    Holy Great Game Batman! 0

I was as sceptical as the next person when i played the demo, found my self wondering how they could possibly keep the pace and quality up at such a high standard for a full game. Well im happy to report that the game does just that and a whole lot more. The graphics for starters are amazing, with the exception of Bat's cape (tends to get in your way when trying to take down enemies) everything looks first rate. Batman is well animated as he strolls around Arkham and when you take part in battle...

Batman: Arkham Asylum, a little late 0

Batman Arkham Asylum  is a video game released late in August of last year for Xbox 360, Playstation 3, and PC. Although I had bought the game maybe a month after it’s initial release, I hadn’t completed the game until quite recently, and I’m a little dissapointed in myself for not doing it earlier.     My first introduction to the version I consider to be The  Batman  was the   animated series  of the mid nineties.   Bruce Timm‘s art style and   Paul Dini‘s story’s rea...

Two face (some parts I like, some I don´t) 0

I liked: The Riddler puzzles, the feel of the game and some gameplay parts. It felt very batman-y, being dark but funny.  I didn´t like: The fighting parts of the game, especially towards the end. I don´t like button hitting contest, and fighting without strategies (press Y when someone is behind you) are dull. Since the "X,X,Y,Y,X,X,why? why?" parts of the game is basically the entire game I played for the story alone....

    Dark Knight Rises 0

This game is a lot of fun and delivers a really strong immersive game experience. The character of Batman is portrait as well as he has ever in recent memory, super strong character roles carry this game a long way. But its not the real star of the show, the best part of the experience is interacting and fully existing on the Arkham island and within the walls of its many sinister buildings. The doom and gloom chills and the fear of what's around the corner are ever present in the game but they ...

Batman: Arkham Asylum for XBox 360Batman and video games have had a bad relationship over the years. The simply titled "Batman" for the NES was the only exception in a long-list of lackluster Batman titles over a two decade span. Then Eidos released Batman: Arkham Asylum. I'm still in awe of the fact that it took game developers this long to finally come up with the perfect way to represent the Dark Knight in video game form, but damn it, if it wasn't the worth the wait! This is like the kind of stuff that Paul Dini would probably see if he took a whole bunch of anti-depressants and soaked in a hot tub for a few hours. And those mind-jacking Scarecrow scenes are just priceless....

8.9/10 The controls are sharp, the visuals crisp, and the voice work top notch. In essence this game should appeal to anyone who loves their gritty action games. Even Batman fanboys won’t be left out in the cold, as the world of Arkham Asylum is populated villains, heroes, and gadgets that will be instantly recognisable to faithful fans of the cartoon and comic iterations, although many have received an artfully tasteful facelift.   The gameplay itself feels very reminiscent of previous Riddi...

When a license makes a game even better. 0

When playing through Batman: Arkham Asylum, there were moments when I couldn’t believe this game was this polished and this intelligently designed. Rocksteady Studios had only one other game under their belt prior to Arkham Asylum, which didn’t make huge waves critically, but three years after their first release, they’ve come out with what is easily one of the best games of the year. It’s not one of the best games of the year just because of how polished and lovingly crafted it is, it’s one of ...

Superhero Batman doesn’t need an intro. A very rich businessman who has made himself into something extraordinary, using his intelligence, detective skills and with the help of some exceptional gadgets. But, Batman isn't a man with supernatural strength. He can't fire lasers from his eyes and he doesn't have the ability to fly or shoot spider webs from his hand. He's a man of flesh and blood, who uses his smarts to find clues at crime scenes, uses gadgets to analyze the environment in ways norm...

    You're Batman 0

Batman Arkham Asylum is a welcome entry into the long maligned genre of licensed games. It is the first serious (and successful) attempt in enabling players to experience every aspect of being Batman; the gadgetry, the detective work, the terrorizing of thugs, and the moral struggles. The game starts with a very familiar premise: capturing the Joker and leaving him at the mercy of Arkham Asylum. The smugness he exhibits even while being stretchered away into his high security cell...

I will admit right here at the start that I am what you might call an almost complete comic book novice. I’ve watched the occasionally film adaptation or two, and know some of the general details of certain more famous characters, but when it comes to telling the difference between the Marvel or DC universes, or remembering certain obscure events, places or people, I usually haven’t the foggiest. Not to mention, I haven’t really read a comic cover to cover in my life, since I&r...

Just The Right Formula For "What The Hell?" 0

Batman: Arkham Asylum begins with Batman driving a beaten and defeated Joker to Arkham Asylum (yep, you guessed it) after a suspiciously easy defeat back in Gotham City. Batman, accompanies Commissioner Gordon and a number of other guards into the asylum until the escort goes awry and The Joker escapes with the help of Harley Quinn. The island is put under lock down as Batman attempts to figure out one very important question: The Joker isn't trying to escape, but why?   Of course, you can't tal...

Arkham asylum: A serious game for a serious hero 0

Batman: Arkham Asylum is a paradigm of focused design that is as remarkable for what it leaves out as for the wealth of gameplay included. Consistently good gameplay mechanics, that all revolve around making the player understand what it is to be Batman, joined with exceptional artistic direction produce a game that while limited in scope, is compelling for its entire length.  A typical approach to a batman game produces a nondescript product with a compulsory driving section so that we include...

Unfortunately when it comes to PC games -- and this review is based on the PC version of the game -- there are much more than the actual game to comment on. Sometimes it's sad to say that the complex structures of PC builds aren't up to the task of handling ports, in the case of this title however, there's pretty much no technical problems standing between you and the caped crusade's quest to save Gotham once again. Not much though not necessarily absent.Any PC moderately decent should take car...

"Batman: Arkham Asylum gets out with a score of 8.7 - it really is a great game, and the things that prevent it from scoring more are related not to the quality of the game itself, which is top notch, but to the aspects that to me should make a part of a true Batman experience and adaptation and are missing from this title."Full review (with scoring criteria) available here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMqFPyksjQQ...

It's hard to believe this game is more than ten years old. Prior to Arkham Asylum, the best superhero game on the market was Spiderman 2, and the best Batman game was probably the movie adaption of Batman Begins, and that's not a very high mark to beat. Arkham Asylum didn't just raise the bar for superhero games, it raised the bar for beat 'em up action games in general, and introduced a free form combat system that would be duplicated for years to come.Even if you aren't a dyed in the wool Batm...
