The Steam Store Page for Arkham City is now showing a release date of the 22nd, a week after the previously stated 15th. Did Square just quietly delay Arkham City again?

Another PC Delay?
This game will unlock in approximately 2 weeks, 3 days and 4 hours
I really hope it didn't get delayed, though it would just give me more time to play Skyrim.
*US*
@theodacourt: @Lake: What regions are you both in? I'm in the US, I forgot that it had different dates elsewhere.
maybe the 18th is just for the UK then. 11th, 15th and 18th are all showing up on a price comparison website for me anyway, so who can tell. Maybe some will ship it early anyway.
Well, the original dates were the 15th in the US and the 18th in the UK- I wonder why the US version got delayed, and the UK one didn't?
@isnipeyoudie: The original date for the UK was the 11th actually. At least that's what it said when I pre-ordered it. It wasn't going to have a cat in hells chance of being played on that date though.
@isnipeyoudie: I wouldn't be surprised if it was just to avoid Skyrim. I don't think anyone's going to buy Skyrim and something else and split their time, so they'll just wait a week to get batman anyway. That would hurt sales numbers and all sorts of powerpoints so I guess they want a stronger start. Even if PC is the lesser platform anyway, it all ends up in some pie chart somewhere.

Skyrim's release date was known before Arkham City got delayed the first time, so that seems an unlikely scenario.
I see three possible reasons for the new delay; 1) Maybe the PC version is busted - in which case one week would make no difference. 2) Console sales might still be going strong - so why cannibalize them by putting a PC version out there which can be quickly and easily pirated. 3) If the PC version is meant to release on disc the same day as the digital version it's possible that the delay is due to issues with getting the physical copies pressed, which seems vaguely plausible given the pack-in problems with the console version and the slightly increased demand for production runs of PC discs this year, with BF3, MW3 and Skyrim all coming out within three weeks of each other.
In truth, I can't imagine that any of those reasons are close to the truth. I suspect that the answer is business.
My thinking was that WB underestimated the potential popularity of Skyrim on the PC. I think they were expecting a heavy console push which would give them space in the PC market. They're not directly competing in terms of genre so they probably saw space for themselves. Forum talk and media coverage of the PC version has probably put them off a little.
I can see your argument #3 being a reason, or some other clerical mess up that has just screwed everything up somewhere along the shipping line. It is almost certainly business though. It's always business, you see, business, business never changes.
As dumb as this sounds in the face of every 360 game "leaking" to pirates from the factories where they get printed and packaged weeks before their scheduled release date, this is what UbiSoft, WB, Bethesda, Rockstar and many more seem to be working towards.Console sales might still be going strong - so why cannibalize them by putting a PC version out there which can be quickly and easily pirated.

Arrrrggghhhh 3 hours left. So painful. I NEED BATMAN INSIDE OF ME RIGHT NOW.
Have you been able to pre-load yet? I have a code to get it for free on Steam which I already entered (and Batman: Arkham City PC is in my Steam library), but it hasn't let me pre-load yet. My experience is I usually get to preload two to three days before release on Steam with pre-orders. Also, it doesn't seem to acknowledge that I own the game on the store page...
I am worried.
@xobballox: There's never been any guarantee of a pre-load option as far as I know, plenty of big games don't do it.

Coming after both Skyrim and Saints Row... timing's pretty poor, the zeitgeist will have passed and my desire to play will be diminished. Whatever.
Hahaha I posted this, and then I bought the game. I guess it was only 40$.
But I'm still playing so much Skyrim and Saints Row that I'm not even excited to play it, so I guess I was still right about that one.
It should unlock at midnight. Oddly enough, I was just at walmart and saw a stack of the PC version sitting on the shelf. I did a double-take because I thought it had been pushed back into december. I even re-read the title multiple times, making sure my brain wasn't replacing "city" with "asylum".

Alrighty, I guess I've just got lucky and every pre-order I've done has had it. Thanks, duder!
I'm looking forward to this game! I was really really downright sceered it got delayed again when I saw this thread, but no..tomorrow. I still have to finish up MW 3..I forgot about that, been playing (and enjoying so much) Fear 2 of all things that I forgot my video game schedule. Shows me to schedule such things.
Anyways, 20 % off for me at Steam.

No, no one has pre-load available. The game itself appears as "Batman: Arkham City PC" on my games list.

Alrighty, thanks, dude.
Edit: It's unlocked for me now, and when I go to the page it says "You already own this game" with the Play Now button, but I can't seem to download it. Still says coming soon in my library. Guessing I just need to wait a bit and it will be fine.
@RsistncE: Holy Jesus. SWTOR beta wasn't that big.
(Restarting Steam fixed my not being able to download problem, yay)
Well I got really excited for about 3 seconds, then I realized it won't be done downloading till tomorrow morning, and I have to be at work at 8:30 so... probably not gonna touch it for another 16 hours.
More Rochard it is!
