Battlefield 1942
Game » consists of 8 releases. Released Sep 12, 2002
Battlefield 1942, the first in the acclaimed Battlefield franchise, pits Axis versus Allies in large-scale multiplayer battles.
Battlefield 1942 is now free on Origin.
Huh. Does it work with Windows 7 the way you'd want it to? I'd totally just pop it on to look at Wake Island again.
Do I get secret weapons too? I loved the demo map for that game.
I should really wrangle this game from my neighbor, I lent it to him like 7 years ago and never got it back.

I read somewhere that the BF1942 demo servers are STILL populated, so your best bet for some classic Wake Island action is probably through the demo.
It's not that I dislike Origin, it's that I don't care about any of the games EA's offering. This one included.
Maybe if they had a free weekend for Battlefield 3, I'd try that out.

Only the base game. A lot of mods are working though. :)
Why BF3? BF1942 is way better than it. Sure the graphics are kinda bad but it is way more fun. The map "Battle For Britain" is more fun than the entirety of Battlefield 3.It's not that I dislike Origin, it's that I don't care about any of the games EA's offering. This one included.

I just downloaded it. I totally forgot that Battlefield used to have ships in it. And that you could beach those ships. Which I totally did with my hapless sub.
It was weird playing BF1942 again. I remember playing it on my PC back then, which barely ran the game. I had to turn the options down a bit, especially the view distance, to get the thing to work well. Now I'm running it on what is, compared to back then, some FUTURE-TECH PC FROM SPACE, and my machine doesn't even break a sweat. It almost feels like cheating.
Is it time to get a Giant Bomb 1942 server fired up?
They just sent me a 10 dollar coupon for my birthday. Gotta say I am being more and more impressed with origin. Do I like steam better? Definitely but I'm used to it. Origin is still knew and you know what? I'm warming up to it. I'm on board to see where this goes
I was having issues getting it running. The first time it ran fine at first but then my cursor locked up in the menus. Now it just straight up won't start (either it locks up, or Origin becomes unresponsive).
I'll just install it off the disks I guess. I still have all of them, including both expansions.
See I knew I was being a good Samaritan when I decided to leave out 1942 from my Origin shoplifting spree.
