The game sold well, is still played a fair bit and it seemed to be the perfect game for DLC but no DLC.
DICE were even saying before and during release how they were looking into DLC but no DLC.
The maps are already there, they just need to alter them some and add the frostbite engine but no DLC.
Can you think of why they didnt release any DLC?
Too busy working on BC2 and unannounced games?
They didnt think theyd be able to compete with other big FPS shooter games?
The game didnt do aswell as expected and so they didnt think it was worth the money/ resources?
Could somebody with some more insight into this kind of stuff take a stab at why?
Battlefield 1943
Game » consists of 4 releases. Released Jul 08, 2009
Return to the Pacific Theater in this simpler, downloadable, console-exclusive sequel to the massive World War II first-person shooter Battlefield 1942. It was later shut down on December 2023.
Why didn't they ever release DLC for this?
1943 seemed more like an experiment. There are plenty of Battlefield maps that could have been converted into DLC, but I think EA just wanted to test the waters with a downloadable game on this scale. I was a little disappointed that the game was never supported, but then again it was only $15 and I played the hell out of the game. Well worth it either way.
" @jadeskye said:no but it would have taken resources away from their primary product. I used to work for criterion, trust me, DLC is more involved then you might think." working on bad company 2. i get the impression that BF1943 was just for a quick pay check. "Surely it wouldn't of required that many dudes to make 1-2 maps though? "
I think if they at least released some more maps it would be awesome. Some of the achievements are hard to get for it though!
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw another type of game of the 1943 scale.
Here are my predictions for DICE:
March: Bad Company 2 releases, supported by Day 1 DLC.
May: Map-pack for Bad Company 2 releases. Most likely paid, or for people who are VIPs. (bought the game new)
Late-summer: More maps, maybe a game-mode for BC2.
Early 2011: New arcade game announced for the summer, I would like to assume Battlefield 1943: Europe, with 5 European maps, and more diverse classes.
Fall 2011: Battlefield 3 is released
Summer 2012: A $20 Arcade game is released, either Vietnam or 2143.
Fall 2012: Bad Company 3 releases against MW3.
Yup, most of that was bullshit, but it is probable bullshit.
