The year is 2142 and a new ice age is slowly turning the planet into a cold desolate wasteland. The EU and the PAC fights for what is left of the Earth not left covered by the ice. War is hell, that’s what I say. War is fun, that’s what some soldiers say. War brings peace…. The list goes on forever and probably will one day include War doesn’t involve guns. Meanwhile we can use Battlefield 2142 to see what World War 3 may hold for us. Do the guns shoot laser beams instead of different calibers of bullets? Well, the answer to that is no. Battlefield 2142 when it first came out was good but didnt have that same feel as Battlefield 2 did when it first came out,but as EA have gave out patches fixing bugs,adding maps ect, this game now rocks. If i was reviewing it from the release date i may of given it 3.5-4 stars but EA have done a great job on this.Many cheaters now have been banned or accounts reset making the experience for enjoyable for the player. I bought this game from Curcuit City in the USA a while ago and thought it would be really good judging from the back cover and i loved Battlefield 2. I popped it in and installed it, ran the update and started playing Found it realy exciting and fun. Honestly, It has some improvements over BF2 but not enough to make it that much better. Taking on what worked well in Battlefield 2 and improving on the formula of all other Battlefield games makes Battlefield 2142 one fun, intense game.The 4 classes in the game might seem limited in theory, but in practice you actually have just as much versatility, if not more when you account for all the games unlocks, than you did in any other Battlefield game. Is this the Battlefield I once knew? 0
I was very fond of the Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 1942. To see that Battlefield 2142 moved into a time period that is in no way related to present day. Now this wouldn't be a big problem but then why 100 and some years in the future do people still use guns that fire bullets? I really thought when I saw mechs that I would get some cool automatic laser beam generator. Alas I was greeted by chrome painted guns with a green muzzle flash.
