Is this the Battlefield I once knew?
I was very fond of the Battlefield 2 and Battlefield 1942. To see that Battlefield 2142 moved into a time period that is in no way related to present day. Now this wouldn't be a big problem but then why 100 and some years in the future do people still use guns that fire bullets? I really thought when I saw mechs that I would get some cool automatic laser beam generator. Alas I was greeted by chrome painted guns with a green muzzle flash. Now don't get me wrong, the game does have lasers on anti-air turrets, some of the titan guns, and the ground turret.
This Battlefield game still does not have a single player campaign. But the multi-player has a new mode along with conquest, Titan Mode. Titan mode plays like conquest capturing missile silos until the enemy titan's shields are down. Then your team must destroy the Titan's security consoles of which there are 4. After that you have access to the Titan's main generator. Once one team makes the other Titan's generator core go boom, they win. Titan games can last a longer than conquest, a hour game is not surprising.
With the complaints about the weapons and the change this game still plays like Battlefield. Some of the very extended upgrade tree's upgrades are sort of un-needed, like the helmet detection systems. Regardless of all the changes this game is pure Battlefield and is recommended for any team game fans.
