I was not a huge fan of the beta and I played Caspian Border. The graphics were underwhelming and the whole thing felt ...wrong somehow. After playing quite a bit, I am very surprised how much better it is since the beta. The graphics on low are better than they were on high for the beta. Everything feels tighter and overall just better than I suspected. You can also really tell that it was built on PC first and its been a long time since I have seen that. Was anyone else impressed by the improvement?
Battlefield 3
Game » consists of 15 releases. Released Oct 25, 2011
Battlefield 3 is DICE's third numerical installment in the Battlefield franchise. It features a single player and co-operative campaign, as well as an extensive multiplayer component.
Anyone else suprised by how much better it is than the beta?
Beta's are to balance weapons, find bugs, and other problems before launch. Their main purpose is to help the developer but somewhere along the line people began to expect them to actually be "good" but true Betas won't be because they are an unfinished game.

This thread is the equivalent of asking," Hey man, how did you like that new restaurant? I loved the main course, did you think it was better than the appetizer?"
Derp.
not even that.
it would be like walking into a bakery and asking, "Hey man, how did you like the new bakery? i loved the cookies, did you think it was better than the dough?"

But sometimes the dough can actually be better.

Judging by recent betas the differences have been nominal, so for this to be such a great leap is unusual and notable.
Nope, DICE went on record and said that they changed the gameplay to resemble Bad Company more than Medal of Honor which was a step in the right direction, and the game turned good enough.

What would you consider a good response? You asked a question and people gave you an answer saying no because we understood it was a beta and therefore not supposed to be good which is one of only about 3-5 responses that would even make sense to the question.
I thought it was a good thread, but everyone is so butthurt at the mere reference that the beta was disappointing that I can't even have a discussion about the improvements without smartasses taking it over. But its the internet, I should've known.

Yes I am surprised, the beta launched what, like a month ago? They must have worked there asses off. All other modern "betas" that launch a month or so prior to release seem like polished gems.
The fuck are you guys trolling this guy for? When was the last time a beta wasn't just a glorified demo? I think people have every right to be surprised that this one actually turned out differently.

Well probably around the time DICE stated that the BETA (beta, it's a beta, beta, say it with me: beta) was from a build that was extremely older than what the current state of the game was. So you have two options:
A) Believe them, and deal with it.
B) Propose it's a lie, in which case if you want conspiracies, I've got some more interesting ones.

@Jace: Man... now I fancy CookieDough Ice-Cream thanks alot.
Now I want a Cookie Jar Blizzard from DQ that has cookie dough and Oreos. I wish I were closer to one!!!
Honestly the beta turned me off from the game but having played my friend's copy I am reconsidering getting this game. They tried doing damage control after by saying how old the build was but the way the beta had been hyped up and just how poorly it played really left a bad taste in my mouth. They probably should have just not released that beta.
So you're implying anything a developer says prerelease is true? Man, I bet Peter Molyneux would love it if that were the case.@ajamafalous said:

I know you aren't implying Sir Peter Molyneux would ever say anything that isn't 100% true about an upcoming game.

I like BF3. I also enjoyed the Beta. Personally i think its nice to be able to participate on the level we can today. 5 years ago unless it was PC or you worked for the company. Open Betas didnt exist like they do know. I considered it an honor to be part of it and i would do it again. I agree that the graphics gameplay etc are better now. Even if its expected :)

No... that's what a beta is
Yeah no, that was garbage, and the full game feels like a Beta.
You're going to tell me that when you try to sell MOH by including a Beta in it that is should be allowed to be that unplayable?
BadCompany 2 was more polished and a better game in both versions of the game, Beta, and full.
I wasn't surprised by the quality of the game, even though parts of the beta were disappointing. Despite those issues, I trusted that DICE knew what they were doing and wouldn't have those issues at release, and I knew it was an old build as well.
What did surprise me were the changes to the interface, specifically the console server browser and the ability to pick your squad instead of being forced into one. These features weren't present in BFBC2 but I wanted them, so it was nice to see them implemented.

Giantbomb is apparently full of not only console tards but also incredibly funny individuals with awesome powers of figurative language.
To answer the OP's question, yeah, the game feels really polished now except for network issues.
