I just found this video on YouTube, probably the first of many speculating a new game in the Battlefield 2142 franchise of games (2143?). What do you think?

Sure looks intended to point that way. The markings on that thing look quite a bit like some of the markings from 2142.

I'd welcome a new nearish-future Battlefield. 2142, though not the landmark BF2 was, got a lot of hours out of me. Titan mode was great and hasn't really been duplicated (or even attempted) since.

Man, that would be awesome. I enjoyed Battlefield 3, but I'm getting sick of the 'modern combat' shtick. Give me lasers and robots!

I never played 2142 but it really interested me. Would love to give 2143 a try if it happened.

I'm willing to bet DICE is all hands on deck to get Battlefield 4 out this holiday along with the new consoles. But a BF 2143 would be cool.

Yes. In addition to this I want Chivalry's first person melee combat to be in there somehow. Sci-Fi Chivalry + Sci-Fi Battlefield.

Soldiers have to yell a lot more crazy stuff. Chivalry has taught us that.

Could be that BF4 is set in the near future.

That never even occurred to me. That would be really interesting, especially since after Bad Company 1 & 2, and BF3, there's not much more to do with the modern setting.

There would of course be people who would accuse them of aping Black Ops 2, but whatever. A futuristic Battlefield game makes a ton of sense, especially considering the pedigree of BF 2142.

Actually, BF4 has been officially confirmed to employ a similar *Modern Warfare* setting as BF3. It could be a ruse, however EA is way too risk averse these days for anything but that. I bet DICE has something in the works in regards to BF 2143 though - I think it will be an analog to the all-digital BF 1943. That would be swell. I'm kinda miffed that EA/DICE didn't pick up that bite-sized Battlefield format for more regular and experimental Battlefield iterations, outside of the *big* Battlefield game every 2 odd years.

@seppli: Yeah, if I remember correctly, BF 1943 was the fastest selling digital game at that time, you'd think they would want to capitalize on it, and a BF 2143 would make a lot of sense.

Bummer about BF4 being yet another modern military shooter. I'm not really sure what else they can do with the setting...after spending tons of time with Bad Company 2 and BF3, I'm not really that excited for another "one of those." Actually, the only thing that's probably going to get me to buy it is that I'll need something to play on my new PS4 :)

Titans were awesome. You could sit back, have a beer and chill in the Titan... and still be useful to the team! That's how I like my Battlefield. =D

I would greatly approve of this BF2142 was badass. Sci-Fi > Modern Military

I am ashamed I have not played 2142. I played tons of the other ones (Not console ones at least) but not that one.

I remember playing BF2142. Rolling around in those mechs was crazy. Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't it have disappointing sales?
