Played and beat it, though It felt more like it was trying to be COD. The campaign could have been alot better if it was like Bad Company.
Jumped into mutliplayer the moment I fired it up on release day and I'm still going strong.
Battlefield is a multiplayer game. The single player only exists because it must, which means it's not worth the time.
Played and beat it. Some levels weren't half bad. Loved everything in Paris. Liked the one with the Frogfoot fight at the end. The Villa was okay too. Overall, like all these modern military shooter campaigns, I enjoyed it for the 4-6 hours that these things usually last, and then never touched singleplayer again.
In the great scheme of modern military shooter campaigns, Battlefield 3's certainly wasn't a standout. Some issues with invisible walls and scripting were downright bad even. Overall - I didn't mind it. It was an added value to what I really came for, and I got over 600 hours of rage-fueled fun out BF3's multiplayer.
Who knows? BF4's campaign actually looked pretty neat in the two sequences that they've shown so far.
@seppli: We said the same thing about BF3
I've attempted to finish it twice and haven't managed to. The first time was when it originally came out. I got probably about 3/4 of the way through, if not more, but there was some shittiness going on with the DICE servers that messed up my account and caused some of my MP progress to get erased and my restarted my campaign save. There were a few times I tried to play it again, but there's a common glitch near the beginning of the game that doesn't allow the scripting to continue, and restarting the game is the only way to fix it. What mainly kept me from playing it was the fact that the first five or so missions are really fucking boring.
I started playing it again a few months ago when there was nothing else to play, but other games came out before I could finish it and I haven't gone back since. I would still like to eventually, because it kind of bothers me that I've played it as much as I have and still haven't finished it.
Yes and it was awful. Either I had serious shooter fatigue/heavily desensitized to explosions or the pacing really is terrible. I'd admit I liked the story, but god is it not worth trudging through the garbage set pieces. I could almost fall asleep playing it.
Honestly, it isn't so bad. It's not as good as Bad Company 2 but it's pretty decent regardless.
I dunno why so many people got wrapped up around it - anything to be angry these days, I guess.
What kind of person doesn't play the campaign before moving on to the multiplayer? Not my kind, that's who.
I also own it on both PC and PS3, but haven't touched the single player component at all, not even the co-op. I did kinda like the singleplayer campaign for Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (the PS2/Xbox game, loosely based on Battlefield 2) though, but that was an entirely different thing, somewhat similar to that squad mode in Black Ops 2, where you could jump between all soldiers in your squad at will.
The campaign felt like CoD4's campaign at the time of it's release. It was still completely bonkers but actually felt like a few notches below the insanity standard of modern shooters. Of course that's out the window now looking at Battlefield 4. The ending sequence is fucking brilliant brick beating action by the way.
It was okay. Basically a Call of Duty campaign but with a lot more quick time events thrown in.
Not good, but not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. Honestly, I'd rather play that than the Modern Warfare 3 campaign again.
I got up to the part where you start the level carrying that mortar at night. It was just so damn dull and boring, especially that plane mission that was hyped in trailers. Also bad company 2 multiplayer was better, especially the Vietnam dlc, good god what a fantastic piece of content that was.

Yeah, I actually had more fun with bad company 2 overall, and the graphics for bad company 2 looked better aswell.
@falserelic: Wait, are you seriously trying to say that Battlefield 3 looks worse, graphically, than Bad Company 2?
Ooookay then.
Anyways, yes I did play the single player and it wasn't exactly terrible.
Especially not compared to other FPS game that tries to have a story.
Then I played it a second time just to get into the jet again, because man that part was awesome

To me it just looked better and it was more destructible, but its just my opinion.
Played the first forty-five minutes, went "Well, this sure is a bunch of hackneyed garbage" and switched over to multiplayer. Never looked back.
I watched the Quick Look but I have not touched the single player. Looked kind of boring from what I saw. It's too much fun to watch all the vehicles blow up or fall out of the sky. Are there any parts of the campaign where an enemy ghost rides a jeep with C4 into your tank? No? Then not interested.
Yes i beat it. People acting like it was the worst campaign ever are ridiculous. Sure it was pretty damn "Meh" but it was OK. Basically was just a CoD campaign to me.
No but I have always wanted to go back and beat it as it bugs the shit out of me that I didn't "beat" the game.
