I own the game on PS3 and PC and never once played the single-player campaign. I have no desire to.

I couldn't bring myself to finish that boring bro-fest.

Played and beat it, though It felt more like it was trying to be COD. The campaign could have been alot better if it was like Bad Company.

Of course.

I only managed to get through a couple of hours before I felt my soul leaving my body.

Jumped into mutliplayer the moment I fired it up on release day and I'm still going strong.

Battlefield is a multiplayer game. The single player only exists because it must, which means it's not worth the time.

Yeah I beat the single player and the coop. Both were really mediocre for the entire play through.

#7 Posted by Irvandus (2880 posts) -

I did but can't remember a single moment of it.

Played and beat it. Some levels weren't half bad. Loved everything in Paris. Liked the one with the Frogfoot fight at the end. The Villa was okay too. Overall, like all these modern military shooter campaigns, I enjoyed it for the 4-6 hours that these things usually last, and then never touched singleplayer again.

In the great scheme of modern military shooter campaigns, Battlefield 3's certainly wasn't a standout. Some issues with invisible walls and scripting were downright bad even. Overall - I didn't mind it. It was an added value to what I really came for, and I got over 600 hours of rage-fueled fun out BF3's multiplayer.

Who knows? BF4's campaign actually looked pretty neat in the two sequences that they've shown so far.

@seppli: We said the same thing about BF3

I played about half of it on my 360 last year and couldn't make myself play more. When I got it on the PC, I barely touched it.

What happened to the decently written characters and varied locations sprinkled all around Bad Company 2?

#11 Posted by Caustic_Fox (112 posts) -

Tried it, got up to 75%... and then I got bored and went back to multiplayer.

#12 Posted by Capum15 (4903 posts) -

Yep; thought it was fine.

#13 Posted by Breadfan (6590 posts) -

Played a few missions and it just seemed too dry. It just made me miss the goofy fun of the Bad Company games.

#14 Posted by thebunnyhunter (1423 posts) -

I played through it...i thought it wasnt the worst thing ever and enjoyed it to an extent.

#15 Edited by Nights (614 posts) -

I played the campaign just so I could experience Going Hunting. I quit after that.

#16 Posted by buft (3318 posts) -

i played a few missions when i first got it, it took me a year to come back and finish it.

#17 Posted by OneKillWonder_ (1751 posts) -

I've attempted to finish it twice and haven't managed to. The first time was when it originally came out. I got probably about 3/4 of the way through, if not more, but there was some shittiness going on with the DICE servers that messed up my account and caused some of my MP progress to get erased and my restarted my campaign save. There were a few times I tried to play it again, but there's a common glitch near the beginning of the game that doesn't allow the scripting to continue, and restarting the game is the only way to fix it. What mainly kept me from playing it was the fact that the first five or so missions are really fucking boring.

I started playing it again a few months ago when there was nothing else to play, but other games came out before I could finish it and I haven't gone back since. I would still like to eventually, because it kind of bothers me that I've played it as much as I have and still haven't finished it.

Yes and it was awful. Either I had serious shooter fatigue/heavily desensitized to explosions or the pacing really is terrible. I'd admit I liked the story, but god is it not worth trudging through the garbage set pieces. I could almost fall asleep playing it.

#19 Posted by Redbullet685 (6044 posts) -

Played a few missions and it is terrible. Tried on hard difficulty from the beginning and it isn't fun in the slightest.

#20 Posted by Giantstalker (1656 posts) -

Honestly, it isn't so bad. It's not as good as Bad Company 2 but it's pretty decent regardless.

I dunno why so many people got wrapped up around it - anything to be angry these days, I guess.

#21 Posted by Milkman (16811 posts) -

I tried. I think I got to the third or fourth mission before deciding that my time would be better spent doing literally anything else.

#22 Posted by Spoonman671 (4642 posts) -

What kind of person doesn't play the campaign before moving on to the multiplayer? Not my kind, that's who.

#23 Posted by fisk0 (4131 posts) -

I also own it on both PC and PS3, but haven't touched the single player component at all, not even the co-op. I did kinda like the singleplayer campaign for Battlefield 2: Modern Combat (the PS2/Xbox game, loosely based on Battlefield 2) though, but that was an entirely different thing, somewhat similar to that squad mode in Black Ops 2, where you could jump between all soldiers in your squad at will.

Played through the whole campaign and it wasn't great. Mediocre is about as positive as I can be. Some decent ideas for lvls/set pieces but poorly executed mostly. For the achieves tbh.

The campaign felt like CoD4's campaign at the time of it's release. It was still completely bonkers but actually felt like a few notches below the insanity standard of modern shooters. Of course that's out the window now looking at Battlefield 4. The ending sequence is fucking brilliant brick beating action by the way.

Played through it and thought it was merely "alright" but was pretty forgettable.

#27 Posted by chilibean_3 (1642 posts) -

Yeah. It's not very good. Well, the plane this was kind of neat.

#28 Posted by TehJedicake (890 posts) -

Nope!

#29 Edited by Stonyman65 (2712 posts) -

It was okay. Basically a Call of Duty campaign but with a lot more quick time events thrown in.

Not good, but not nearly as bad as some people make it out to be. Honestly, I'd rather play that than the Modern Warfare 3 campaign again.

#30 Posted by Blu3V3nom07 (4213 posts) -

I'm just finishing it now!

#31 Edited by WarlordPayne (700 posts) -

I beat it, it was really boring.

#32 Posted by Vonocourt (2130 posts) -

Yep, beat it. It was pretty bad. Though I did legitimately laugh when my squad buddies in Paris, instead of going around a corner and down the steps to join me on the first level of parking structure, instead walked through the guard rail and stair-stepped through the air to reach me.

#33 Posted by konig_kei (618 posts) -

I got up to the part where you start the level carrying that mortar at night. It was just so damn dull and boring, especially that plane mission that was hyped in trailers. Also bad company 2 multiplayer was better, especially the Vietnam dlc, good god what a fantastic piece of content that was.

Yeah, I actually had more fun with bad company 2 overall, and the graphics for bad company 2 looked better aswell.

@falserelic: Wait, are you seriously trying to say that Battlefield 3 looks worse, graphically, than Bad Company 2?
Ooookay then.

Anyways, yes I did play the single player and it wasn't exactly terrible.
Especially not compared to other FPS game that tries to have a story.

Then I played it a second time just to get into the jet again, because man that part was awesome

To me it just looked better and it was more destructible, but its just my opinion.

It was okay, but substantially better than Modern Warfare 2/3

#38 Posted by Zidd (1846 posts) -

for like 25 minutes.

#39 Posted by ajamafalous (12004 posts) -

I have literally never touched the menu option.

#40 Edited by WilltheMagicAsian (1545 posts) -

Of course not.

#41 Posted by Vanick (332 posts) -

I did. I kept playing it hoping it would get better but it didn't.

#42 Posted by Grilledcheez (3947 posts) -

I didn't finish it, no sense in playing something I don't enjoy.

#43 Posted by Hitchenson (4682 posts) -

Hell no.

#44 Posted by BaneFireLord (2936 posts) -

Played the first forty-five minutes, went "Well, this sure is a bunch of hackneyed garbage" and switched over to multiplayer. Never looked back.

#45 Posted by Mezmero (1908 posts) -

I watched the Quick Look but I have not touched the single player. Looked kind of boring from what I saw. It's too much fun to watch all the vehicles blow up or fall out of the sky. Are there any parts of the campaign where an enemy ghost rides a jeep with C4 into your tank? No? Then not interested.

#46 Posted by Clonedzero (4200 posts) -

Yes i beat it. People acting like it was the worst campaign ever are ridiculous. Sure it was pretty damn "Meh" but it was OK. Basically was just a CoD campaign to me.

#47 Posted by Noblenerf (321 posts) -

I'm currently playing through the single-player thanks to the Humble Origin Bundle. I find the game's design to be very mediocre so far, but at least the game has decent visuals.

I'd say more about it but, unfortunately, I have to RETURN TO THE COMBAT AREA!

#48 Edited by Bucketdeth (8012 posts) -

No but I have always wanted to go back and beat it as it bugs the shit out of me that I didn't "beat" the game.

#49 Edited by LeYcH (216 posts) -

I have to.
I always do it with every game that I buy.

#50 Posted by MightyDuck (1522 posts) -

I played it and finished it when the game first came out. I felt it was alright, not bad...but not earth shattering either. To be honest, I really liked what was done with the Bad Company single players much more.
