TOP EDIT: Here's the full article.
Looks pretty good and much better than BC2. Also shit blows up well.
Massive Cities, with buildings that blow up! :D
Battlefield 3
Game » consists of 15 releases. Released Oct 25, 2011
Battlefield 3 is DICE's third numerical installment in the Battlefield franchise. It features a single player and co-operative campaign, as well as an extensive multiplayer component.
Game Informer Pictures Leaked - Enjoy
im just truely waiting for to see gameplay footage of jets/choppers/tanks.
that and see if commander role is coming back (one of the major points of the game)
until then who cares cause we already know what battlefield is all about and BC2 looks good enough for me so i wont be disappointed with BF3
Its a modern war game. So was Medal of Honor. What extreme differences are you expecting? They are on different engines and I don't recall any cities in MOH." It really looks like Medal of Honor. "
Edit: The HUD though is pretty similar I'll give you that.
Edit Edit: Oh balls, I just remembered MOH multiplayer was on frostbite.
Edit Edit Edit: I should stop editing posts.
That looks fucking great. I'm building a new rig in two weeks for 1.2 grand. Kinda thinking about throwing in 200 dollars more worth of upgrades to make sure I can run this on max now... I would be terribly dissappointed to have to settle for medium.
Edit: Of course the month with this in GameInformer is the month my subscription ran out >.>

You guys gotta stop making assumptions. Remember what happened with Skyrim?
You guys:
"This is obviously still Gamebyro.."
1 week later
Bethesda:
"All new engine!"

Bethesda-"modified engine"
us-"same engine"
Bethesda-"new engine, forget that interview"
you-"stop making assumptions"
A lot of people are being apprehensive on this one. It looks fine from what little we've seen. Still want to see some in-game footage before saying anything more. MoH sucked, but Battlefield is DICE's baby so I don't think we'll see CoD Lite or anything.
Speedsmoke is novel.
Are these shots before destructive env, or after?
Imo, any engine can be construed a new one were it to have just underwent some modifications in the way of evolving on the last platform. It helps hype.
I'd advise others not to build computers to anticipate any release of a game until the game in question is actually released. Or wait at least until April or so when I hear Intel will be back with fixed Sandybridge mobos.
I'm happy that the models are looking more realistic and proportional. Sorta bugged me a little in BC2.
This is not running on the same engine as MoH Multiplayer. In the PC Gamer article they have said that they have completely rewritten the Frostbite Engine for this game. (MoH Multi used Frostbite 1.5, this is using Frostbite 2.0)
Looked at a scan of the magazine. The destruction 3.0 and the lighting effects look nothing short of amazing.
Only thing I'm wondering when I look at the pictures is, will you be able to hide on the top floor of a three story building that you just completely open?
That's a shitload of geometry the engine need to render out!
" @Jeffsekai said:It's probably still Gamebryo. Emergent Technologies, the company who makes Gamebryo, has gone under and their assets have been up for sale since the end of last year. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Zenimax bought the engine and retooled it themselves. Gamebryo was never a poor engine, just poorly used. It powers a lot of games and training software, it was just that the version used in Oblivion and Post Apocalyptic Oblivion with Guns was very old and hadn't been updated much at all." @s7evn said:You guys gotta stop making assumptions. " @Jeffsekai said:Actually, the MOH engine ran great and could look incredible on PC (not particularly great for rendering night scenes though). I thought it was a pretty decent tech effort all things considered." Looks like they are using that shitty MOH engine. "That's what the hud would lead you to believe. "
This looks insane though - here's hoping that the fact that it's a cross platform project means that it's going to be well optimised. Don't have the most powerful of rigs on my end - enough to max out most mutltiplatform games at 1920x1080 but usually struggles with PC-centric stuff like Crysis or Empire: Total War.
" @s7evn said:ACTUALLY. The MOH multiplayer ran on the Frostbite engine so of course it has resemblances between them!" @Jeffsekai said:Actually, the MOH engine ran great and could look incredible on PC (not particularly great for rendering night scenes though).
