TOP EDIT:  Here's the full article.

Looks pretty good and much better than BC2.  Also shit blows up well.

Massive Cities, with buildings that blow up!  :D

I'm really liking the smoke from that second pic.

The bottom picture looks like a map from Battlefield-  Play4Free. Thus, I have played that map.

im not sure what to think

#5 Posted by Meteora (5787 posts) -

Looks pretty sweet, but they're prints so we can't quite comment too much on how it really looks. =/

     futureshop.ca isn't even convinced BF3 will be any different to a BF:BC3...
#8 Posted by KaosAngel (13765 posts) -
@LiquidS: ...would be funny if at E3 DICE says that BF3 is going to be BC3, and that the proper BF3 will be out for the PS4 and Xbox 3.

That's what the hud would lead you to believe.
#12 Posted by gamb1t (964 posts) -

im just truely waiting for to see gameplay footage of jets/choppers/tanks.

that and see if commander role is coming back (one of the major points of the game)

until then who cares cause we already know what battlefield is all about and BC2 looks good enough for me so i wont be disappointed with BF3

Definitely building a new rig for this.

Not that I have much of a choice though...

#14 Posted by SammydesinasNL (840 posts) -

It really looks like Medal of Honor.
#15 Posted by RsistncE (4496 posts) -

It's too hard to really say anything about the game from these pics. WANT IN GAME TRAILER.

Its a modern war game. So was Medal of Honor. What extreme differences are you expecting? They are on different engines and I don't recall any cities in MOH.

Edit: The HUD though is pretty similar I'll give you that.

Edit Edit: Oh balls, I just remembered MOH multiplayer was on frostbite.

Edit Edit Edit: I should stop editing posts.
#18 Posted by niamahai (1404 posts) -

@KaosAngel: Planning on building a gaming PC next year so I might get it for it. Just like BC2 was a console oriented game ported to PC this sounds a PC game ported to consoles.

That looks fucking great.  I'm building a new rig in two weeks for 1.2 grand.  Kinda thinking about throwing in 200 dollars more worth of upgrades to make sure I can run this on max now...  I would be terribly dissappointed to have to settle for medium.

Edit:  Of course the month with this in GameInformer is the month my subscription ran out >.>

You guys gotta stop making assumptions. Remember what happened with Skyrim?

You guys:
"This is obviously still Gamebyro.."
 1 week later
Bethesda:
"All new engine!"
#23 Edited by Seppli (10251 posts) -

What are those white ballz in that picture? Clipping through shit? Is that some kind of lighting 'probe' image? I don't understand...

Other than that I'm digging the microdestruction on the building. Sweet. And it's an effin city! Niiiice!

I can't fucking wait for this game. Looks sweet.

We know its an all new engine, also all of that speculation was before any screen shots got out.

I sincerely hope the singleplayer is more like MoH than BC2. The authenticity of MoH campaign really made it stand out to me (and others, reading over the NeoGAF thread) despite some shortcomings in the polish sector.

Um no. Skyrim went like this:
Bethesda-"modified engine"
us-"same engine"
Bethesda-"new engine, forget that interview"
you-"stop making assumptions"

Hot and sexy.

#34 Posted by MechaDestroyer (40 posts) -

A lot of people are being apprehensive on this one.  It looks fine from what little we've seen.  Still want to see some in-game footage before saying anything more.  MoH sucked, but Battlefield is DICE's baby so I don't think we'll see CoD Lite or anything.

#35 Posted by Dany (7887 posts) -

None of you have seen this game run and you are dismissing it based on the LITTLEST of things.

#36 Edited by Nomin (964 posts) -

Speedsmoke is novel.
Are these shots before destructive env, or after?
Imo, any engine can be construed a new one were it to have just underwent some modifications in the way of evolving on the last platform. It helps hype.

I'd advise others not to build computers to anticipate any release of a game until the game in question is actually released. Or wait at least until April or so when I hear Intel will be back with fixed Sandybridge mobos.

#37 Posted by withateethuh (726 posts) -

I'm happy that the models are looking more realistic and proportional. Sorta bugged me a little in BC2.

#38 Posted by fugie7 (1105 posts) -

looks amazing! can't wait to get the issue of the magazine so i can read all about the game.

#39 Posted by NoRemnants (378 posts) -

This is not running on the same engine as MoH Multiplayer. In the PC Gamer article they have said that they have completely rewritten the Frostbite Engine for this game. (MoH Multi used Frostbite 1.5, this is using Frostbite 2.0)

Last picture shows a littlebird chopper.

Here's me hoping that it will make it into MP. I LOOOVE the Little Bird chopper.

Yeah! I'll do nasty things with you baby!

Looked at a scan of the magazine. The destruction 3.0 and the lighting effects look nothing short of amazing.
Only thing I'm wondering when I look at the pictures is, will you be able to hide on the top floor of a three story building that you just completely open?
That's a shitload of geometry the engine need to render out!

It's probably still Gamebryo.  Emergent Technologies, the company who makes Gamebryo, has gone under and their assets have been up for sale since the end of last year.  I wouldn't be at all surprised if Zenimax bought the engine and retooled it themselves.  Gamebryo was never a poor engine, just poorly used.  It powers a lot of games and training software, it was just that the version used in Oblivion and Post Apocalyptic Oblivion with Guns was very old and hadn't been updated much at all.

Actually, the MOH engine ran great and could look incredible on PC (not particularly great for rendering night scenes though). I thought it was a pretty decent tech effort all things considered.

This looks insane though - here's hoping that the fact that it's a cross platform project means that it's going to be well optimised. Don't have the most powerful of rigs on my end - enough to max out most mutltiplatform games at 1920x1080 but usually struggles with PC-centric stuff like Crysis or Empire: Total War.

ACTUALLY. The MOH multiplayer ran on the Frostbite engine so of course it has resemblances between them!

@PhatSeeJay: I never played the MP side though - only ever beat the SP campaign which was UE3 I believe. Wouldn't be surprised if there were elements of that tech in this newest build though.
