Just a quick heads up for everyone,  kotaku put up a news story today about how supposedly hackers banning innocent people, because.... well because they're assholes. There is a message up on battlelog right now warning that Punkbuster might not be working properly at the moment and recommends you play on a none punkbuster server. EA/Dice do not say hackers are responsible for the mess, but never the less watch your account and be careful.  
 
quick side note. this only effects PC users.

Oh the irony of needing to avoid PB to keep yourself safe from hackers. I think it was Jeff last fall who said "Wait, is PunkBuster still a thing?"

Draconic measures just got a whole lot less attractive. Now I can be fingered by hackers and get banned?

I got surprise fingered once and while entertaining, it was not my thing really. And why would you jam a finger up in there unannounced anyways?

I do ask this: Are these people actually hacking, or are they just finding idiots who'll give up the needed info? Because far too many cases of "hacking" aren't.

It's not like this is first game where hackers are able to ban people from servers. Let alone on a game that relies on Punkbuster

Am I the only one thinking that all of this hacking business would have been largely mitigated by releasing BF3 through Steam, instead of using the superannuated Punkbuster client?
