Since the other thread doesn't have a real comparison video, I just thought I would give people a quick shot of a real difference between console and PC to discuss. Wait for the two .gifs to load. Notice the huge difference in lighting. The PC version the light fills the whole screen, console version almost no light.

I have nothing against games on consoles. I play COD on consoles and plenty of other games. I can't imagine playing BF3 on consoles. Not just because of how it looks, but because playing on smaller maps with fewer players seems uninteresting.

This. I think most people who are getting it on a console is doing so due to either being too used to playing games that way, or do not have a computer, or the money to buy one, that can support it. I have not seen one post of any ever thinking console games look better than their PC counterparts. Especially not a game whose graphics are such a huge draw to the game. Think Skyrim, Crysis, etc.

Judging from the videos (although shitty compressed ones) the textures aren't that much better than consoles. What really show off the PC version are the effects and lighting, which are just some next level stuff compared to the consoles, or at least the 360 footage.

Call me a skeptic (because I am), but given how overtly Pro "PC Master Race" everyone on there seems to be, forgive for postulating why they've thrown up the comparison in .GIF format, will you?
 
With the amount of scanlines included in the render of those gifs, it could easily hide (almost) any post-processing to any piece of footage ripped from one platform running the game, one dulled, and the other enhanced. Given what limited footage I've seen of grenades going off, they tend not to give out too much of bright explosion, BUT I could be wrongon that point. (Maybe Epic Steve can shed some light on this?)
 
Having spent a few hours in the beta today, I can say that DICE have done a fucking great job making it look glorious on the 360, though I don't have a capture card, so can't provide primary footage.
 
Disclaimer: In no way am I trying to slag off the as a platform, and I know full well that DICE developed BF3 with a lead focus for the PC; obviously it will look better there than the consoles. All I'm doing here, is casting my doubt on this being a "real" comparison.

I'm playing it on xbox at the moment and it looks good by any standard.

Holy crap the PC version looks good. The 360 version looks pitiful by comparison.

...because these .gifs were made from official videos anyone can watch. Watch the .gifs again. (which is why they are in .gif format) There is clearly a secondary explosion.

I would hope so. The current gen consoles are a billion years old - it's about time PC games started looking markedly better again.

It looks amazing on PC, true. But it's also good enough on consoles.

While the PC version looks amazing, the Xbox 360 version still looks good. I'm not going to be crying having to play it on consoles.

Consoles are old at this point, Im not sure why the pc version looking better is a big deal. Its not like they wouldn't make the console version look that good if they could. I think people are just too used to consoles being the lead platform.

*Warning. Incoming PC Bias*

Even if you take the graphic inequalities, this game needs to be played on PC because of mouse & keyboard support with proper flight stick controls when you hop in a jet.

The graphical debates this game keeps bringing up are really highlighting how old the consoles are now.

I'm finally starting to want a successor to the 360 and PS3.
