The sense of speed from that cockpit is pretty intense...

And the rushed radio messages as you light guys up on your HUD as you spin your head around in the cockpit? The day that game comes out I'm just gonna scream Goose for hours on end.

Could this possibly be any lower res?? Dude could have at least uploaded in non-cellphone resolution. Really hard to see things here.
There are some other gameplay things that came out today (possibly the same leaker, but even worse resolution in some):

This whole flight sequence looks a little.. weird. It has to be on rails and the player is basically the gunner of the aircraft? Idk, just looks weird that he has to "look at" the aircraft he wants to take out till they explode.

"Deal breaker" probably doesn't mean what you think it means. But yeah, most people buy the game because of the multiplayer.. and I can't imagine it being a deal breaker for anyone.

The sense of speed in that jet sequence is awful. Play LOMAC or any number of flight games and you'll know how fast it really should feel. It also looked like an on-rails-fest á la MOH's Apache level.

I have a feeling these vids, and particularly that awful 360 screenshot, are marketing "leaks" to downplay expectations for what the console version will look like.

@emem: isn't deal breaker a factor which sways a person over whether they will do something or, in this case, buy something? The multiplayer for many, many people is what they are buying BF3 for.

@itsjoncharles: It's similar but also totally opposite. A deal breaker is what makes someone not buy, or not do, a thing. For example, if the single player was the single greatest thing on the earth but you cared about multiplayer and it sucked ass, that would be a deal breaker.

True, but the object you're firing at is also moving at this speed, so the rocket propulsion would only have to apply enough force for it to move slower than you. Resulting in it moving towards your target.

@itsjoncharles: Just like @The_Nubster wrote, it basically means that there is something that "breaks the deal" for you, so in your case you wrote that the multiplayer is the negative part that stops (or can stop) you/people from buying the game. It's nothing to feel bad about though.. happens to everyone. ;)

'Moving towards' is a bit optimistic. The distance between target and missile would decrease initially, true, but the missile would still be flying backwards and falling out of the sky due to having no lift or maneuverability. Instead of the missile directing itself into target, you would be relying on the target flying itself into the missile (unlikely).

I'm not, not much of a fan of war shooters anyway, mostly getting it for co op and mp fun with my cousin.
I've got too many other purchases which I can barely afford to be able to buy this fullprice, nor do I think its worth it (purely my opinion, I'm sure the game is great for others who dig it!).

How about an initial free-fall, with the missile maintaining altitude by way of fins, slowing down by air resistance until it was behind the other craft and then firing its propulsion?

(I am of course aware that greater minds than mine have not seen this idea as feasible, hence we don't have them..but it's still fun to discuss as laymen).

@SSully: Yeah.. really hope there´s other in-jet stuff that´s not on rails. Would be nice to learn all the vehicles in SP and then know about the controls in MP.
Bad Company 1 had a heli level.. but it wasn´t very complex (basically a straight corridor/canyon) and it didn´t really train people to be better pilots in Multiplayer.

I don't care if that jet footage is on rails and you're just the co-pilot, the voice acting and heavy breathing is exactly how a pilot sounds trying to avoid being shot down by a heat seaking missile. That is some really well-done and realistic voice acting. That sold it to me. Also the other f/a-18 flying over you is awesome.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2uh4yMAx2UA&feature=related footage of a pilot evading surface-to-air missiles, for reference. Watch at halfway through.

Not even remotely original for a video game.

These on-rails "gameplay" segments are becoming the bane of video games. It's a one-button controller future if they keep pandering to the lowest common denominator.

Can you imagine just how much thrust you need for a rocket to be launched in one direction at super sonic speed, come to a stop, and then go back wards? Missiles that are shot forward but does a giant 180 degree turn is a lot more feasible. Physics is a bitch.

True, but the object you're firing at is also moving at this speed, so the rocket propulsion would only have to apply enough force for it to move slower than you. Resulting in it moving towards your target.

The problem is that it wouldn't hit the target with much momentum because it's basically decelerating to 0 m/s, so it wouldn't do any ballistic damage.

That isn't the problem, and missiles don't work like that.

Why did I preorder and not get a beta key, EA is a bitch. Why do they have to hold battlefield hostage.

Watch at halfway through.

you might wanna skip to 6:13 and hear something really familiar.

    I also noticed that.
