    Hi All,

Just picked up the PC version but I'm experiencing some annoying stuttering issues.

I've got an i7 2700k, 8GB RAM, 3GB GTX 580 and I'm getting around 40-50 fps (according to FRAPS) but the game (video & audio) keep stuttering. Setting all graphics settings to low makes no difference.

I've had a quick search online and this appears to be an issue for some Nvidia people, but none of the proposed "fixes" have worked. I also have the latest Nvidia driver installed, (a recommended Legacy driver has also been tried)

Have any of you guys experienced this issue? Or have any idea how to resolve it?

    Thanks.

Are you running Windows 7 by chance? Because if so, then I'm very certain I know what your issue is, and it's not your GPU.

I am indeed. I probably should have mentioned that. I'm running Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.

Alright, so then your issue has nothing to do with your video card, but rather the way Windows 7, and Battlefield, handle your multiple cores. Windows 7 has a "feature" known as core-parking that basically means Windows 7 sometimes sets some of your physical and logical cores as "parked", giving them less or no tasks to perform except under heavy load, to help with power consumption. For whatever reason, this plays all kinds of havoc with the way Battlefield 4 works and means crazy-bad stuttering.

All you have to do is unpark your CPU's cores, which can be done with this handy-dandy program:

I was having the exact same issue, and in fact our PC's are very similar in specs. The stuttering was reduced to almost zero the second I unparked my cores. Hope this helps!!

'Upgrading' to Windows 8 saw my FPS jump up by 20-30% and removed all the massive FPS spikes I occasionally had once every minute or so. To be honest, most of my other games have also seen a (much smaller) rise in performance so I'm glad I did install it but it was weird to see how much of a difference that it made.
