I am getting tired of people falsely claiming that Battlefield is copying Call of Duty. I will explain it for all. Battlefield 1942 came out on Sept. 10 2002, the first Call of Duty came out on Oct. 29 2003, a full year later than BF1942. Battlefield 2 went into the modern era on June 21 2005, Call of Duty 4 went into the modern era on Nov. 6 2007. Two entire years later. So to anyone suggesting that the latest Battlefield game, Battlefield Bad Company 2, is copying or trying to be like Modern Warfare, take class on FPS history. If anything, Call of Duty was mimicking the Battlefield series. Sarcasm aside, can't people compare games without accusing that one is trying to be another. Sorry for the rant type post, I just wanted to put that out there.
Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Game » consists of 26 releases. Released Mar 02, 2010
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 is the second installment in this spin-off Battlefield series. It has a more serious campaign and a vastly expanded multiplayer system.
For the record, Battlefield came BEFORE Call of Duty [7 year old thread]
This topic is locked from further discussion.
And Medal of Honor came out before both of them, so everyone needs to shut the hell up and enjoy gaming.
" @FrankCanada97 said:You're right, I was countering the baseless accusations put out there with an equally baseless accusation. If anything, Call of Duty was mimicking the Battlefield series.I don't believe either series is mimicking another, taking the leap to a modern setting was a natural direction to take both series. "
Doom came out before both of those games, so Modern Warfare is copying Battlefield is copying Doom. End thread.
" Pretty soon both series will jump into the future and then they're going to be copying Halo. "Battlefield already went to the future in Battlefield 2142.

But seriously, who cares...
I am not saying one is copying the other, I really don't care. But I would just like to point out that just before the first game in series A came out before that of series B doesn't automatically exclude them from copying from one another. Games that run as a part of a series react to modes or game play improvements of the competition all the time. This can be true of Battlefield and CoD as much as anyone deal with it.
They're all WW2 shooters. There's not much you can change from that formulae really. It's just how good you do it is what counts.
People who try to compare any Battlefield game to Call of Duty are fucking stupid, plain and simple. It doesn't even matter which one came first, although thank you for laying that out for the folks who don't know.
Even with Bad Company, there is a DRASTIC difference in the gameplay. Battlefield has always been about just that: a battlefield...a massive fucking battlefield. The maps in the Battlefield franchise are something that Call of Duty has never reached...and never will. Call of Duty is squarely planted in the deathmatch arena of FPS games like Unreal and Quake, except it's based more in reality than fantasy.
There's so many differences that it's not even funny!

lets keep that stick up our asses that makes us NEED to fight and compare Battlefield to Call of Duty, Megadeth to Metallica, ....................................
" @Bigandtasty: Actually, Battlefield already jumped to the future, but it sucked.... But seriously, who cares... "I thought it was good, not as good as Battlefield 2 or 1942 or Vietnam for that matter, it was still enjoyable.
Today in another thread it happened again, one person said that it is a "MW copycat". Why can't people learn that Battlefield and Call of Duty are two completely different things.
" @AURON570 said:You're silly - All popular games are utter shit, duh." Halo and COD are overrated. "And I suppose FF7 isn't? Just a thought. "
They're all just mimicking World War 1 & 2." And Medal of Honor came out before both of them, so everyone needs to shut the hell up and enjoy gaming. "

Actually, CoDs entire existent is taken from Medal of Honor, since the IW team was from the MoH team that split off to do their own thing, which came before both of them. CoD was never mimicking BF, it was how MoH was already playing ina way, and they changed some things. They are not similar in their gameplay at all. And anyone who isnt a complete retard already knows all this." I am getting tired of people falsely claiming that Battlefield is copying Call of Duty. I will explain it for all. " @AURON570 said:I lol'ed , hard." Halo and COD are overrated. "Overrated, or underhated? "
What's this bullshit about 2142 not being very good? It has the most varied ground combat of the whole series. It was also the most balanced for the longest time, and has only recently been approached by BF2 in that realm (primarily by bringing fixes in 2142 back to BF2).
Besides 2142 started the whole customizable kits trend we'll see in BC2 and MW2 (which IW seems to have used for the first MW).
Also Medal of Honor only had the setting. The games in this thread (BF and COD) are primarily about the MULTIPLAYER... not the insignificant singleplayer, which MoH focused on.
" Who cares what game came first? They're all copying doom and wolfenstein by that logic. "This.
