    Will steam version of Vietnam work with disc version of BC2?

    Topic is the question.  A friend of mine has the disc version of the root game but wants to buy the expansion via steam. Will everything work ok?

    That's what I'm wondering too. I think if anything, he would have to buy it at the EA store. Because the disc copy he can register with the EADM.

    On the Steam page : "  Notice: Vietnam requires the base game Battlefield: Bad Company 2 on Steam to play"

    If you go into Steam options and select "activate a product on Steam", once you punch in your CD key you will have the Steam version of the game and will be able to get Vietnam on Steam.

    No it won't. Bad Company 2 isn't a Steam integrated game. Only certain games work like that.
     
    HOWEVER, @Wes899: Tell your friend to enter his regular cd key at http://activate.ea.com or inside the EA Download Manager and it will unlock Bad Company 2 in his digital library in case he ever loses his disc. For disc and other non-Steam users, you have to buy Vietnam from the EAstore. They'll send you a key in your email that unlocks Vietnam inside BC2. It's almost as good as Steam.
