Battlefield is always worth a look, and I like taht they keep tray these different free-to play and downloadable games.

This spiritual successor to the free-to-play competitive online cartoon shooter, Battlefield Heroes. It will feature maps from Battlefield 2 and the classes and items from Battlefield: Bad Company 2. You will be able to level up and buy weapons using in-game or out-of-game cash.
Battlefield Play4Free Announced, Coming In Spring 2011
Dude - it's a mix between BF2 and BF:BC 2 assets. Maps and vehicles are BF2, running on an updated BF2 engine (doesn't seem to be Frostbite) and the weapons and gadgets and classes are imported from BF:BC 2.
If they've got permanent weapon unlocks for purchase, I might just get me my favorite for each kit and then mix it up with in-game currency. Then again, I'm probably not going to be serious about it since there's gonna be BF:BC 2 Vietnam amongst tons of other games too.
Too many games for me to consider spending time on F2P gaming really.
" Best thing about the trailer for this is the theme song "There was a point where I stopped paying attention to the contents altogether and listened to just the song.
DUN-DUN DUN DUN DUN-DUN!
I'm still "hurt" by what they did to Battlefield Heroes. It was fun until they raised the prices of items bought with VP (VP was earned, for free) and took away any incentive to play unless you paid. I hope they don't do that with this new Battlefield game.
But I'll go back and play a round of BFH, and try it when it comes around.
I'll give it a shot like I did Heroes but I'll end up going back to playing Bad Company 2 cause I can.
So much for that rumor of bringing BF2 maps to BC2. Thanks for letting longtime fans down yet again at every step of the way, DICE.
PS: Brad, Play4Free is an existing EA program that Battlefield Heroes, NFS World, Battleforge, and others fit into as well. You can't just call this game "Play4Free" and expect to make the sense you think you do.
Whatever! It's not DICE making this game! I'll try it but I'm probably going to stick to Bad Company 2 until DICE goes to unleash the behemoth that is BF3!
Hmm seems like EA is fighting against themselves for market share now. Bad company 2 Vietnam Medal of Honor, Battlefield Heroes now this. Guess they are trying to cover every FPS aspect that people wanna play, though I would guess they overlap is large. would guess that most people that care will buy the full fledged game and not deal with Free2Play games.
Loved the Metal Rendition of the Battlefield Theme, Awesome and I might even check this out at some point.
