Well, the framerate is pretty important when it comes to character action games and the Digital Foundry analysis showed that it can't maintain solid 60 which is unfortunate. That being said I have no doubt that Bayonetta 2 will be awesome and for me a GotY contender.

I played Bayo1 on PS3 as well and boy did they fuck up that version of the game. I bet the WiiU version feels amazing compared to it and I'm ultimately not too bothered by the drops in the second one considering the craziness that is going on.

Sweet, still the reason I bought a Wii U.

So after playing this demo six or seven times I can only say that it's awesome.

The combo potential is crazy just judging from the short snippet and the two weapons. I absolutely adore the grab mechanic the swords have and umbra climax is a fantastic addition. The game feels super smooth, the hits are weighty as expected and seeing Bayonetta casually slide under a swing of an giant enemy after a properly timed dodge before going into witch time and beating the shit out of him just never gets old. My dodge offset is a bit rusty and I'll have to learn the combos to really get going but I'm still pretty satisfied with the gold medal on my first try.

This is how you do a demo right, not like the terrible one for W101.

One would hope so, but in doing so that one would be wasting energy. It's one of my most anticipated games of the year, but I ain't lookin forward to those sales numbers

I think it's great that they put up a demo for this game. Hopefully it gets a few more people to buy it.

I'm not touching it though. I'm waiting for the final release, I don't need a demo to sell me on this game.

That sure is more Bayonetta. I've seen the content in the demo a bunch of times, but it's always nice to get a feel for Bayonetta again. Beautiful, fast and pretty much guarantees even morer biggerer dumberer shit later in the game if this is the prologue.

I'm pleasantly surprised at how well it plays with stylus controls. It won't be how I'll play the full game, but it was an interesting option at least.

Also, that bit in the song that plays over the first part of the demo where she goes "bang-bang" is wonderfully silly.

I wish I had a Wii U just to play this.

Just finished the demo, and oh man... it's been a while since a game just had me yell "Yes!!" a bunch. That image when she jumps at the giant creature was just stunning. Looks like what they said is true:

That demo feels phenomenal.

I have never played the first Bayonetta game, but I remember it being mentioned that shit gets nuts and boy howdy does shit go nuts in this demo. The action was great and I didn't see the game bog down at all. I went from not caring about this game to now totally getting it! Lucky for the newcomers Bayonetta 2 comes with the first game.

Every Clover/Platinum game is fucking insane. Their least crazy game is Vanquish which is the most over the top third person shooter ever made and has you punching Communist cyborgs at mach speed.

It was fun. I might buy it one day.

@corevi: I just looked over what Clover/Platinum's list of past games and the only one I have ever played was Viewtiful Joe. I've heard great things about Vanquish and have been meaning to get it.

Right. And think how great the Bayonetta demo feels. Then translate that super-tight feel into a shooter. Then add a ton of set pieces, complex bosses, tactical gameplay, and a ton of style. Vanquish was so god damn good, man.

Oh, and The Wonderful 101 is just as crazy. Looks kiddy, but the gameplay is anything but.

@viciousbearmauling: Bayonetta is the only Platinum game that sold well (other than Rising which just sold on the MGS name) and the Wii U is starved for games enough that I think it will sell pretty well, relative to how many Wii Us are out there obviously.

@corevi: WiiU was starved for games when Wonderful 101 came out and it didn't sell at all.

Bayo 2 apparently sold around 40,000 copies it's first 2 weeks in Japan, where as the original game sold over 130,000 copies in it's first week. That's rough.

Maybe NA will save Bayonetta 2, but right now, it's looking like a victim of the Platinum Curse.

It's having abysmal sales over in Japan which is pretty bad because you'd think this game is the perfect match for that demographic.

I doubt NA will help things along and wouldn't be at all surprised if sales are even worse over here.

Then again, what did anyone expect. It's a shame so much amazing work is kind of going to waste.

Yeah, Bayonetta 2 is definitely the game that should not exist going by sales numbers. It's amazing this sequel is coming out in the first place. So I'm going to pick it up as soon as I can when it comes out and enjoy all the insanity it brings. That demo was everything I was looking for as far as controls and getting use to the Wii Pad. I'm excited for the full version, for sure.

It super sucks about the sales in Japan, and I don't really see it being all that different anywhere else. It seems like such a shame considering the amount of work that has gone into it. 101 had the same problem which was also a bummer. I guess that Korra game that's coming out at roughly the same time will help keep Platinum doing what they're doing for longer.

Yep, it's Bayonetta and it feels awesome. It's so fantastic that we're getting another of these games. Can't wait for the game to hit (in two weeks!!!), I think I'll be playing this demo a whole bunch in the meantime.

Seriously, hooray for Platinum Games. It is indeed a shame that sales aren't stronger, but at least somehow publishers/platform holders keep funding them to make these awesome fucking games.

@corevi: Platinum seriously needs to hire Chip as a writer or designer or something. He always does a WAAAAY better job at explaining Platinum games' mechanics than the games ever do themselves (I'm looking at YOU, Wonderful 101).
