    A demon in Christian and Rabbinical literature often seen as equal with Beelzebub, with powers to draw men to blaspheme and murder. In Devil Survivor, he is one of the prime demons competing for the throne of Bel.

    In Devil Survivor

    Belberith is one of the demons who is after becoming the king of Bel, ruler of the underworld. In order to achieve this he forms an alliance with the Lawful Shomonakai, lending them his strength. The Shomonakai in return create fear amongst the population, strengthening Belberith, who feeds on it.
     
    His design in Devil Survivor combines the demons Bael, Baal, and Belphegor seen previously in the Shin Megami Tensei series. Within the story this is a visual symbolization of how he subsumed these demons' powers into himself, similarly to how the protagonist absorbed the Bels Beldr, Belial, Jezebel, and Belzaboul.
