The player can walk both horizontally and vertically this time to evade enemies and attack them from a safe distance or towards them to die a horribly gruesome death. This takes place in a forest among trees until the player is called upon by the ''rince of Monsters' to enter his cavernous lair for a final battle.
The only indication that a wave of enemies has been defeated is an etherial, rotating circle descending from the sky to shoot a golden arrow in the ground, as a seeming acknowledgement of success. This is this game's replacement for the bow dancing which served the same purpose in the previous game, and returned for the next game.
