It might be a sequel with you playing as another Splicer, but I think a prequel is more likely.

That's what I thought, but the trailer seems to offer both as options.  They show a little sister that is older, suggesting a sequel, but it's also called "sea of dreams" making it seem like it's a prequel about the creation of rapture.  I would love either, that game was phenomenal, any chance to jump back into that world would be very welcomed."

Its hard to tell whether it will be a sequel or prequel based off of a very obscure trailer. Personally I would love to see a sequel and play inside a fully populated rapture for some epic RPG / FPS action. But on the other hand I would love to play a prequel and see things from that perspective.

Personally I think we're going to get a sequel with BioShock2. Something in that teaser just makes me think the girl standing there is longing to go back.

I want a prequel because I want to see the previous Rapture and the like. That would be awesome. The trailer doesn't really give much info, though, so we will have to wait for facts.

Im thinking a prequel just because of the teaser. It shows the sand rising up and forming a city or most likely "rapture" when it was first being built or before it went to shit.

I hope for a prequel, would be very interesting to see the downfall of Rapture from the start. But as others said the trailer may say otherwise.

I really hope it's a prequel, i want to see the fall of Rapture.

I feel the same way. I believe it will be a prequel, however they have already said there will be a Bioshock 3, when they said the movie was being made. :( I really am not looking forward to these prequels/sequels, I really think they'll take the spirit of what made Bioshock good and remove it.
