BioShock Infinite Delayed To March 26th

Ken Levine announced at a press event this week that the game will be pushed back a month to fix more bugs.

Eurogamer.

Kotaku

At the event some press got to play the game and were impressed with the game. I think pushing it back a month to make sure there is no bugs is a good idea or do you guys think this might turn out to be a Duke Nukem type of problem?

This is a good thing. Give them all the time they need.

I'm fine with delays for polish, but there's been a lot of odd circumstance around this game in the last year or so.

I'm officially worried about Infinite.

Take all the time you need. Please do not ship this game until its ready.

#5 Posted by Brodehouse (7284 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

You know, I'm all for taking some extra time with a game, I'm all for making it a great game and all but... What is up with Irrational? It will be almost six years from their last game. Like... is it just a matter of no one cracking the whip, do they just have unlimited money? When this thing actually comes out, how old will the tech they're building it on be? When did they lock their technology?

Since BioShock, we've had the entire Mass Effect, Modern Warfare and Uncharted trilogies. Full on five big Assassin's Creeds.

Remember when Ken Levine stood on Sony's stage with the Move in his pocket? Doesn't that seem like another lifetime?

Yeah, hopefully it will end up as good as Duke Nukem Forever.

We should be so lucky.

Don't be.

Fine by me. I have too many video games to play anyways and if the delay makes the game better then there's nothing wrong with it.

I don't have a problem with Kotaku but I don't think you'll be winning a lot of people over with that, pretty large anti-kotaku bias here.

Weird how Comstock is now all beardy - I guess that such a late change suggests he won't be a physical character?

I know what I'm getting for my birthday....

sure! I mean I'm never going to be convinced because I really didn't like Bioshock but I was just saying that despite Kotaku having good writers and bad writers they are seen as terrible across the board.

No argument here. This particular article wasn't bad though, and largely mirrors what other folks have to say about the game.

UH...... That's good I guess. So , after I come back from PAX East , I can enjoy some Bioshock : Infinite !

#17 Posted by Phatmac (5293 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

Glad they're taking their time. :)

#18 Posted by Oldirtybearon (3238 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

They've already delayed it two years. What's one more?

seriously, if you think this game is coming out in march then lulz.

#19 Posted by Rafaelfc (870 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

I don't know about March being the final date or not, but I have a strong feeling that this will come out next year for sure.

#20 Posted by iAmJohn (5847 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

I'm so down with this coming out on my birthday. So down.

What are you talking about? They announced it as a fall 2012 game from the outset, then delayed it to February before this. That's, like, five months.

#21 Posted by Kerned (1132 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

I wish more games were delayed until they actually worked correctly.

Oh well okay. I still don't see the fuss about this game after how BioShock lost momentum halfway through.

What an intro though.

#24 Posted by MildMolasses (2210 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

I realise they have a fiscal end-of-year to worry about, but with the amount of big games coming out in January through March, I wouldn't be upset if this got pushed out of that time frame into summer

#25 Posted by TheHBK (4915 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

I kinda feel like people who respond "Oh this is a good thing!" are just suckers. I have to work on a schedule and do my work on time, why is it that developers are given a pass a lot of times? We have seen the extremes this kind of mentality and lack of scheduling can do to a game, Duke Nukem Forever anyone? Finish the game when you said you would. Don't make promises you can't keep and do it right? I suppose that is my sticking point, when was it that developers were not expected to do their job right and do it on time? Why is it that we have people who only expect one of the two?

#26 Posted by BisonHero (3416 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

A delayed game is eventually good, but a rushed game is forever bad.

#27 Posted by Cold_Wolven (1800 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

This is the second delay now and grated it's only a month from when it was suppose to release but still I want to see this game finished just for the sake of letting us finally play the game.

Nice!

I've lost interest in Bioshock. Dishonored has replaced it.

ok. I am cool with that.

#31 Posted by President_Barackbar (3196 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

All of these delays better be worth it, I've been looking forward to this game for such a long time.

#32 Posted by Mogoping (61 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

I can wait another month if that means a better game will be produced.

#33 Posted by Grilledcheez (3760 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

Sounds good to me, we all expect a certain level of quality and I am confident they can deliver on that.

#34 Posted by EquitasInvictus (1740 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

Oh my god, I just realized how analagous "infinite" and "forever" are ...

That can't just be a coincidence!

But really, considering how good it looks and how complete the parts we've already seen are, I don't think we have to worry about this dragging on that long.

#35 Posted by Levio (1482 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

I would say "take all the time you need", but then I remember that's how Blizzard handled Diablo 3, and I'm reminded that all the late-development polishing in the world can't make up for extremely repetitive gameplay.

But I have tons of fun with the BS games regardless so either way I'll be happy.

#36 Posted by TheSouthernDandy (3026 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

AHH KEN WHY!?!

Actually if they need a little extra time, take it. I want this game to be good. Everything I've heard from people who play it says it will be.

#37 Posted by cutyoface (409 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

They can take as much time as they need to make it a great game.

#38 Posted by bigsmoke77 (758 posts) - 6 months, 12 days ago

@Brodehouse: Ken said on twitter recently that they were working on move support with infinite, not sure if it is going to be in at launch.

#39 Edited by crush3x5 (39 posts) - 6 months, 11 days ago

As long as when it comes out, it is as good as looks. This is probably my most anticipated game of 2013 atm. It looks soooo good although the Last of Us is right up there as well :P

#40 Posted by coribald (254 posts) - 6 months, 11 days ago
