Kotaku is reporting that we will have to wait til early '13 for this game. I am dissapointed but I suppose I would rather wait if it means a better game. Right?

Bioshock Infinite delayed until 2013
I wonder how far the genius thing gets Ken Levine that he can afford to spend 6 years between games. Entire trilogies have come and gone since his last game.
As far as "if we wait we'll get a better game!"... That depends on what your favorite part of Infinite is. It's not like they're going to use this time to add new narrative or new art. It's purely 'this damn thing doesn't work' time. If the combat and framerate is your favorite part of BioShock, then you'll like the game better.
I'd say that maybe they pushed it to get it on new consoles, but it's not like 2K is not going to put it on 360/Ps3.
I've got 250k Brad Bucks on this game....I don't want to wait any longer :)
This gives me some time to clear out my backlog. I just hope that this won't become another Duke Nukem Forever. It even has the word "infinite" in the title.
So this will fill Take Two's May release slot instead of whatever Rockstar's next release is. I guess that pushes GTA V to Oct 13.

According to Ken Levine you are talking out of your ass.

I'm really relieved. Bioshock Infinite is a really ambitious game, and when they announced a 2012 release date I was really worried that it was being rushed due to publisher pressure and was going to fall far short of expectations. This gives me some more confidence.
what really? I mean they announced the game in early 2010 and only because they had something concrete to show. I don't see how the announcement of a release 2 years later would make you feel they rushed it when they were working on it since 2007?
Still, I have no problem with this delay. I can barely find time to keep up with all the games anyway ;)
Now I really don't know what to look forward to for the end of the year. I guess this is the year where I go back to my back catalogue?

Really, he's going to write new stuff, get those art designers generating assets and plug them into new levels ... in a year? Or is he just going to try to get the stuff already written, the designs already made produced and polished to an acceptable level, because that sounds more realistic.@Brodehouse said:

Unless you're referring to the 'maybe they're going to get it on next gen consoles' in which case, obviously I'm speculating. I speculated and then argued against it. No need to get pissy.
This makes GOTY awards a bit more contentious...
So far this year, it's been Journey or Dear Esther for me. No AAA game has impressed me as much. Still need to get around to Fez.

Same here. I HATE it when games have release dates locked during the Oct/Nov/holiday shopping season and won't budge for quality purposes. I've played too many games in my lifetime where I thought "I wonder what it would be like if they had just a few more extra months to work on this?"
I hope nobody bitches about this either because there are always good games to play.
A bit of a disappointment, but these things happen. I'm sure there will still be plenty of stuff to play this fall.

As long as it takes, I guess. I can be patient. As I always say whenever a game gets delayed into another year, there's still plenty of other upcoming releases to look forward to.
Absolutely true. Bioshock Infinite is a game I'm anticipating very highly, but I can wait. BI is absolutely an ambitious project, and the last thing I want is for it to suck.
This has less to do with quality of product, new assets being added, beta testing etc. and more to do with not wanting to release at the previous october timeslot, and having to go up against to smaller indie titles called Black Ops II and Assassin's Creed III.
Ken Levine is really bad at spinning PR.
Oh for fucks sake.
The game being delayed 4 months means its another 4 months Irrational can spoil parts of the game with their advertisement. I've been avoiding any videos like crazy; revealing all your "hard hitters" seems stupid to me.
@Brodehouse:
Ken Levine says:
We had a similar experience with the original BioShock, which was delayed several months as our original ship date drew near. Why? Because the Big Daddies weren’t the Big Daddies you’ve since come to know and love. Because Andrew Ryan’s golf club didn’t have exactly the right swing. Because Rapture needed one more coat of grimy Art Deco.
The same principle now applies to BioShock Infinite.
I take his comment at face value. Feel free to convince yourself he is only talking figuratively about adding technical polish but realize that you are most definitely making shit up.
With this & Prey 2 both being delayed to 2013 and no news on Last Guardian there are currently no games that are coming out in the second half of 2012 that I think of as now as 'must buy'. I'm looking forward to a couple like Borderlands 2 but there is nothing I'm particularly excited about. Anyone else got a game that they think is going to be particularly awesome that I might have forgotten about?
Weird. 2012 is turning out to be a weird year. First a bunch of game got delayed out of Q1/Q2 (I know there was several, but I can only think of XCOM right now), now we've kind of got a drought of games right now...
Ah well, we'll still have Borderlands 2.
Looking at my list of "games to watch", I've got Tomb Raider (Q4?), Dishonored(?), Darksiders 2 (August), Planetside 2(??)... and most of those I'm not even sure if they are actually 2012 games :P
Weird year.
I'm really glad that Bioshock Infinite is allowed to be a "When it's done" game, though. Go Irrational!
Really hope this wasn't done to add multiplayer. I just have a funny feeling that's why the game was delayed.
ugh fucked video games. Just put me in a coma for 5 years and I'll wake up and go back and play all the good shit at once then do it again.
