Ehh, these skylines seem like they're getting more hype than they deserve. I'm loving the art style in this game though.

Looking great, I hope they make a demo like they did for Bioshock.

#4 Posted by Airickson (120 posts) -

I don't know if this game will be any good, but I truly appreciate the attention to detail Ken and his team have put into the backstory.

Is it wrong that my favourite thing about this game is Elizabeth?

#7 Posted by MeatSim (10765 posts) -

Why don't they make real roller coasters like?

#8 Posted by ZeroCast (1869 posts) -

Bioshock: Infinite sure as hell looks promising.

Some pretty hardcore jumping STRAIGHT THROUGH RAILS there.
#13 Posted by dezvous (532 posts) -

Damn, it's pretty telling that even just watching a short video when he basically fell to catch the skyline at the end I felt a sense of dread because of the rate at which you were falling and the insanity of both the angle of the jump and the other skyline.

What looks awesome about the skyline system is that it looks like there's definitely room for people to really master it and pool off some crazy stunts.

ugh I wish it would come out this holiday!
#15 Posted by Roomrunner (791 posts) -

holy crap, that view of the city at 2:19!

#16 Posted by BigChief (503 posts) -

You know, one thing I think is neat about Infinite is how damn colorful it is. A lot more that most games, especially shooters these days. Also, digging that background music they used here. Hope that's representative of what's in the game.

Wasn't that skyrail system in Metroid Prime 3's Skytown?

#18 Posted by SleepyDoughnut (1197 posts) -

I'm really glad they had a fictional backstory justification for this retardedly dangerous transportation system.

hmm...
What's up with the "ghost" carriage at 00:47?
Class C bug!
; )

Reminds me of Giant Bomb's first reaction to the Bioshock Infinite announcement and joking about continued Ayn Rand references.

Vinny: (Imitating Booker DeWitt) "I'm going to take on this world on my own. Take me to the skies, where I'll build my kingdom."

Jeff: "My sky train!"

Vinny: "Pull yourself up by your bootstraps, I say! To the sky!" That's the intro, I don't know if you guys saw it ...

They've talked about that stuff, it's not a bug

The jumping from one track to another gave me such a boner.

Ya there was something similar in that game, I kinda remember. It was nothing as crazy as this though.

Yeah, its something that's been bugging me for awhile, but this system seems to be a lot more fluid and dynamic. But its clear they had a look at MP3 during the design process.

That's not a bug. It ties in with Elizabeth's powers.

It looks great, but those random guys shooting rockets at you from left and right kind of took me out of the immersion... It was like "Okay, this is a video game alright" and "These encounters will probably not be very dynamic and just happen over and over again as soon as you start hitting the rails"

It must be all that Infamous 2 I've been playing the last few days.

Still, I'm really looking forward to the game.

Nope. I'm interested in the game primarily because of her.

This is looking more interesting than Bioshock 2. I really want Ken Levine to do something new though, his creativity needs to be unleashed!

It was a closed demo, and they weren't allowing any filming. The host even made a joke during my screening about how awkward it would be to have to escort someone out mid-demo.

No, that makes you a normal person.

#31 Posted by gabeq224 (17 posts) -
@Franstone: part of the game, actually.  The whole "tears" thing.
#32 Posted by ryanwho (12082 posts) -

Skyline would be a much better subtitle for this game. Or just title.

Skyshock

People who noticed the similarity to Skyrail in Metroid Prime 3 are perceptive.

this is what a next level video game looks like

#35 Posted by SpicyRichter (504 posts) -

Do we have a video of the phased movie theater that Jeff's been raving about?

not making assumptions is different than ignoring the evidence. of course this game will be very good.

This looks like a baby's game compared to System Shock2.

#41 Posted by Cynic04 (124 posts) -

Sold.

#42 Posted by Pop (2605 posts) -

I wonder when we'll be able to see that demo they were showing at E3.

#43 Posted by RuneHammer (63 posts) -

@Franstone: It's a carriage Elizabeth can phase into the world. :D

#44 Posted by RuneHammer (63 posts) -

@Jackel2072: Levine said it's coming next week, the only thing I have really wanted to see this E3. Looks so good!

#45 Posted by Red (5994 posts) -

Looks incredibly absorbing. There's something about the sense of speed you get in first person that just draws me in.

#46 Posted by TheChaos (1158 posts) -
My fear of heights is going to enjoy this game.
#47 Posted by Franstone (1091 posts) -
@Jonasusan: Strange, that's what I'm hearing...
Kinda odd that's the only example of that I've seen in all the videos.
What's the point of warping in a carriage through a tear when there are other carriages sitting there.
We shall see.

Yeah, floating sky cities with roller coaster-like transportation solutions and girls that can phase objects in and out of reality are so cliched.

I believe Mr Pants is unaware that neither Ken Levine nor Irrational were involved in Bioshock 2 at all, save for perhaps whatever 3d assets/systems they built for bio1 that were carried over to bio2 by the 2k guys.
