    BioShock is amazing 0

BioShock created a lot of hype when it was anounced and guess what? It has lived up to it. A horror game, an excellent underwater horror game. At the start of BioShock you are treated with dreary 1950 style music, and excellent water effects. At the end of the game you realise you've just been treated to good graphics, a superb story and the best horror game on the xbox 360.With 15+ hours of story telling goodness, complimented by good graphics, powerful enemies ( Big Daddies are tough) and and ...

    Bioshocked 0

Shocked doesn’t even begin to describe how your going to feel when you enter the world of Rapture. A world where the limits of humanity and science are not restricted in how far they can advance, or go out of control.  Ken Levine has sunk us to the bottom of the sea and instead of finding an aquatic utopia, Bioshock has delivered a chilling vision of what man is capable without limits.             You enter rapture to the narration of Andrew Ryan, visionary and founder of this underwater city. ...

    Rapture awaits 0

BioShock is my GOTY 2007. It is not only a piece of art, it is one fantastic game. I'm not going to write much about it, but hey, nobody asked me to. Anyway, BioShock is one of the most atmospheric and beautiful games ever made - it looks stunning, and the soundtrack and design is awesome. The gameplay is also very interesting, as you get to use not only regular weapons, but also cool special abilities with your ''left arm''. You can set people on fire, freeze them, send waves of bees upon them,...

Phenomenal, distinct, and worth your time... 0

Coming in kind of late to the Bioshock phenomenon, I felt it rather difficult to go in with a mind clear of any preconceived notions or prejudices (we've seen a lot of FPS in the last two generations). When the game released, it was greeted with staggering fanfare and showered with critical applause; ultimately culminating in Game of the Year honors and millions in sales. Naturally then, there was an almost irrepressible sense of expectation that came along with entering Rapture for the very fir...

A long-winded Bioshock review. Summed up: It rocks! 0

Bioshock is fantastic. It is easily one of the greatest games to hit the 360 and is one of those games that, by itself, justifies the purchase of a console, much like Metroid Prime, Zelda 64, or Metal Gear Solid justified the purchase of their respectable consoles. Would I say this is a better console-selling title for the 360 than Gears of War? Yes and no. For people, like me, that are more into the single player experience, Bioshock blows Gears of War out of the water. Not because Gears of War...

    Sleeping with the Splicers 0

Rapture, a vast underwater metropolis created by the 'genius' Andrew Ryan and the setting for Bioshock. After your plane crashes into the see you shortly find yourself in this amazing place and it is instantly noticeable that all is not going quite as smoothly as Mr. Ryan had planned. This is shortly explained by a friendly voice on a radio courtesy of Atlas your friend and teacher. Rapture is a city founded on science and plasmids, which are genetic enhancements made to make everyday life easie...

    A Perfect Dystopia 0

I will try to make this review as objective as possible but I am human and my opinion is the only thing that matters in MY review =). Very few games compare to Bioshock in regards to narrative, gameplay, or stylistic choices. Bioshock immerses the player in Rapture, an underwater city designed to be perfect. However, things quickly took a turn for the worst as the inhabitants became addicted to a mutagenic, stem cell-like substance known as Adam and started a civil war. Thus, Jack, the protagoni...

One Word "Revolutionary".One of the best First Person Shooters I have played in years!I think it beats Halo3,Gears of War 2,and GTA IV.It is one in a million.A good plot to and the weapons are out of this world!Especially when you get to upgrade your Guns.(Tip:Fully Upgrade your shotgun first)Also the Plasmids. The Telekinesis is my favorite.I give it Full 5 Stars.Go Buy it.360,PC,PS3(except Wii).Go pick up a copy for your self.  ...

    Creepy, beautiful and intense 0

Bioshock a creepy game, but not actually scary. The visuals are beautiful and the story is quite intense. I found the FPS gameplay a little subpar but it’s not really “that sort of game” - it’s more than that. Towards the end I was really starting to get pulled into the world of Rapture. Definitely a quality game....

    BioShock Review 0

The idea of Rapture is simple. Create a Utopian like city where only the world's brightest minds are invited to live in harmony. The story of Rapture is a little more complex. One man's dream becomes a nightmare... The citizens of this advanced world start to play around with things better left to God. To make a very convoluted story short... some of the brightest minds in Rapture have engineered ways to mutate and splice human cells on a genetic level and introduce things that are considered un...

    Superb 0

A revolutionary game worthy of the title "modern classic", this game deserves props not just for being innovative, but for being so ridiculously fun. The opening plane crash and subsequent descent into Rapture is an experience unparalleled by anything else. From there, the fun begins. Beating people with the wrench is fun, but it's not until you gain your first plasmid that the real excitement begins. Player choice is a heavy factor in this game, as illustrated by the bevy of weapons and plasmid...

Great narrative helping to refresh a stale gaming genre 0

Going into Bioshock uninitiated is a tough one.   Not only has it been plastered all over the gaming press both online & offline, it's also won some major acclaim from standard press due to (in most part) it's sublime graphical presentation. Despite seemingly appearing from nowhere in-between all the heavy hitting new releases of 2007, thanks to Microsoft's substantial press machine and it being the spiritual successor of System Shock the kids literally all went mad for this one. Judging by...

"Would You Kindly" please play this game? 0

I came late into the Xbox 360 scene. I bought my console towards the end of 2008, and I only picked this up at the weekend just gone. I had heard good things about it, and then I'd heard its just another shooter trying to top the major series in the world at the moment. (Half Life, Halo and the such.) And to put it straight out there, it is up there with the greats. Set in stone.   Lets start with the graphics; like all reviews. The graphics rose the bar for most shooters on the 360. Or so I thi...

    My bioshock review 0

I found bioshock to be a amazing game with a great story. This game is for anyone who likes something unique or different  I highly recommend this game to anyone who is a fan of fps. I would write a full review but it says I have to keep it at least 100 words and I frankly can't do that but If you have a xbox and xbox live or even a ps3 you need to get the demo for this game and at least try it because everyday you go without trying bioshock a puppy dies and nobody likes dead puppies....

Atmospheric and innovative gameplay make BioShock a "must buy." 0

A utopia under the sea, free of tyrants, governments, or gods. What could go wrong? Plenty. In 2K's BioShock, you'll find yourself thrust into the undersea city of Rapture, where it's obvious that something's gone horribly wrong. Armed with little more than a wrench, you'll start your journey through this masterpiece of a video game with one goal in mind: find out what happened in the city of Rapture. BioShock will last 15-20 hours, and every minute is a treat; this game is not your average firs...

One of the most unique games ive played 2

What suprised me about this game was its difference compared to any other. It is very unique and keeps my interest highly. The graphics are amazing and the story line is most promising. I have recommended numerous times for all my friends and family to play this unique game. All in all i have gotten positive feedback from this game. I cant wait for Bioshock 2 even though i have heard its being done by some one else so i hope its not a total waste of my money. But all in all great game....

A haunting, exhilarating vision of a utopia gone horribly wrong.. 0

"I rejected those answers; instead, I chose something different. I chose the impossible. I chose . . . Rapture. A city where the artist would not fear the censor, where the scientist would not be bound by petty morality, Where the great would not be constrained by the small!!" These are the words you hear early on in the game as your character finds himself entering the under water world of Bioshock. Indeed the city of Rapture is quite a place, filled with a horrific sense of wonder and a dyst...

Don't let yourself miss out on this one! 0

Bioshock 2 is one of those games that, as much as I tried, I could not enjoy it. I rented it, then returned it. I bought it, then gave it away. Then one day, I said, "Enough, I am going to play this game and I'm going to like it!" At that moment I started noticing all of the great atmospheric effects, the deep customization with the plasmids, and the unforgettable story and lore. I was practically drawn to the game at that point. Beginning the game, I was thrust into the story and forced through...

Bioshock visits a place and time few games ever do. 0

he good: great licensed soundtrack - awesome graphics, especially the water effects - Some of the best voice acting you will ever hear in a game - Story with twists that will have guessing til the end. The bad: Some character models look quite ugly - easy is to easy and hard is not hard enough. The game starts you in a plane looking at pictures of loved ones. When all of a sudden the plane begins to shake and then finally crashes into the sea below. You begin swimming towards what look...

    Nothing short of fantastic. 0

BioShock came out in late 2007, but I feel I should share my thoughts on this titan of a game.   It is definitely one of my favorite games of this generation - and here's why. Story In BioShock, you start out as a normal, every-day person named Jack, flying on a plane, reminiscing on how his parents told him that he was destined for greatness. But all of a sudden, Jack blacks out, and he wakes up below the surface of the ocean. He rises and the plane he was on has crashed, and there is debris of...

    Always New Depths. 0

"Game of the forever!!!" is bandied around pretty often in our greater internet communities. Many of us make yearly or decade long lists, numbering games to show ourselves and others what we really hold special in our gaming interests. I can't do that to myself (mostly due to a forgetful memory and I just try to enjoy myself as much as I can), but if I did, I would have a new game to add to BEST GAME 4EVA. Bioshock. We've already had a past too. 2 times previously have I tried to start t...

    Bioshock Review 0

Following a previous review that was done for Mass Effect, the decision was made to revisit some of the games that had either been missed or flat out good enough to be played again. Bioshock was one of the games that were missed when it was released and with a high value of opinions surrounding it, it was a good competitor for an evaluation. At the time of its release in 2007, it was hard to find a review that gave this game less than 90%. The reception was outstanding and the game went on to w...

A Rare Masterpiece (Spoiler Free) 0

Bioshock is a masterpiece, plan and simple. It combines so many fantastic elements into an astonishing whole.               At it's very core, it is a FPS developed by 2K Boston and published by take two. It starts of with a monologue from the games protagonist, simply known as "Jack". From then, as you swim among the wreckage of your crashed plane, the story really starts to intrigue and delight, and doesn't really stop until the very end.             To me, this is Bioshock's strong point. It ...

    BioShock Review 0

BioShock is one of those games that definitely leaves you both wanting more and at the same time complete exhaustion. In this game you are an unexpecting passenger of an aircraft that crashes inot the middle of the ocean. Somehow you survive the crash and float to the top. You don't seem to spot any suriviors but there does seem to be some strange tower in the middle of the ocean. You swim to it thinking that at least you'll be able to wait rescue not having to tread water. You discover a door, ...

All Is Not Better Down Where It's Wetter 0

Bioshock is a first-person shooter set in 1960 that puts players in control of a silent protagonist, named Jack, who has stumbled upon the underwater metropolis of Rapture after surviving a plane crash at sea. Jack finds Rapture eerily abandoned, but it remains filled with the style of the late ‘50s – from music playing on turntables and jukeboxes, to era-appropriate billboard advertisements and home furnishings. Soon, Jack comes into radio contact with a man who offers to lead him to safety, an...

    BioShock, Awesome 0

As an unexperienced gamer, my only games being Super Mario and a random assortment of handheld games, BioShock opened a whole new world for me. I always loved the artistry and narrative in games but was never really inspired to play them until I saw my best friend playing BioShock.Perhaps, I was mesmerized by the Big Daddy or the art deco style but it was the political ideas behind the game that really caught my attention. The city of Rapture was the tragic character in this work of art.Yes, Bio...

I realize that Bioshock is a slightly older game these days but reviewing games I beat for the first time is sort of becoming habit at this point. That said Bioshock was a game that at launch didn’t pull me in. I tried to get into it multiple times since release but it just didn’t do it for me… until now. I finally decided to go through Bioshock whether or not I enjoyed it or not. Surprisingly after giving Bioshock a little more time the game sunk its hooks in.The game play in Bioshock isn’t ama...

    Epic Game 0

I'll be honest, I picked this game up new for $9.99 and not being a huge fan of FPS's my hopes weren't set too high for this game. Within 10 minutes my view was a complete 180. The creepy atmosphere of Rapture alone was enough to make you hold your breath in addition to the plethora of bumps and clangs in the distance. The game takes you deep into a ruined city where once high hopes were set for the salvation of man seeking to find sanctuary from the increasing corruption of government on the "o...

Bioshock, a year on and still continues to amaze. 1

When 2K Games first announced over six months ago that they were porting their highly-acclaimed First Person Shooter Bioshock to the Playstation3 the main question on everyone’s mind was whether 2K would take the time to replicate the same experience that players had on the Xbox360 and PC versions and bring it over to the Playstation3. Let me assure you however that Bioshock on the Playstation3 is every bit as good as its 360 counter-part. The game features the same excellent single-player camp...

Bioshock Review: A new age in Interactive Storytelling 0

This review is of the PS3 version of the game and not the Xbox 360 or PC version. As such some of the technical notes made in this review may not be applicable to other versions. Neither other version was considered when writing this review. It's sometimes hard looking back on it to think of Bioshock as a game. Make no bones about it, it's a great game, but you're hardly going to remember it for that reason alone. Bioshock's attraction for the most part comes from its incredibly immersive and w...

BioShock is a game that for someone to understand the sheer greatness of roaming around Rapture, they would have to play it first hand.Least for me after hearing all about the hype and praise its 360 counterpart got. I found it hard to even find myself pretending to admire from what I saw, I never quite understood the eerieness of the story and enviroments just from watching video clips. Even still with it initially being a 360 exclusive I decided to just forget about it and shrug it off as anot...

Bioshock is an excellent game with a twisting story, unique style, and very immersive game play. It's more than your average FPS, mostly because you will make important moral choices, and be told an impressive story that can be quite unpredictable.                         When you start out in Bioshock you find yourself in the middle of the ocean after a plane crash, which in some mysterious way ended up on site of a tower jutting straight out of the ocean. Naturally you then swim to...

    Bioshock...It's Awesome! 0

Bioshock is an excellent game. Let’s just get that out the way. There is pretty much nothing wrong with this game. The story is excellent. The gameplay is amazing. And the visuals are great even for a two-year-old game. I am rarely this surprised by a game and I am usually not used to playing a game of this polish and caliber.             With all that out of the way, let’s get to it. I want it to be known that I am not a first-person shooter kind of guy. I rarely play them. But that is not be...

Bioshock for the Playstation 3. 0

Bioshock is a critically acclaimed action game, that has received much praise for its art design and story. Beginning with your crash landing in the underwater city of Rapture, to the insanity of the genetically enhanced Splicers you will encounter, Bioshock delivers on most of its critical acclaim; however there are issues that can not be avoided that truly take away from an otherwise fantastic game. One of Bioshock's main advantages is the phenomenal art design. One of the Greatest Games I have ever played! 0

Bioshock is the complete package. It is one of those great games that come only a few times each generation.   Graphics - I loved them. From a technical standpoint they are solid, but artistically they are in a league of their own. Unlike many HD games this generation Bioshock is full of color and style. I would often take minutes here and there to just admire the scenery.   Sound - Again, it was amazing and incredibly atmospheric. I especially liked the moans of the big daddy and the innocent y...

BioShock is a game where you fire up and don't know anything about what is happening for the first half hour in. There will partially be spoilers coming in this review. You start out in 1961 as some dude, and he'll be in a plane checking out his watch. After that, the plane then blows up and flies into the water, then you'll swim up to the surface. This is when you take control as you swim between plane debris that is smothered in flames. You then will enter a lighthouse and go down a weird look...

For the first time in a long time you can have a different experience from a first person shooter. While Bioshock still uses some of the same mechanics found in this genre, it is one of the few which sets the bar pretty high and makes everything fit together. The PC and Xbox 360 versions came out in August 2007 and the PS3 edition a year later, in October 2008. The PS3 version has better graphics, better textures, fewer bugs and no more frame-rate problems. This makes the game look very go...
