    Overview

    Bit.Trip Presents: RUNNER 2, Future Legend of Rhythm Alien is a direct sequel to the original Bit.Trip RUNNER. It expands on its predecessor by including new abilities, multiple playable characters, High-Definition graphics, unlockable outfits and checkpoints.

    Story

    Narrated by Charles Martinet (the voice of Mario), the game follows Commander Video as he tracks down the nefarious Timbletot throughout various planets to stop his plot to end all worlds.

    Gameplay

    New additions to the game include Checkpoints, which are completely optional; upon coming to the Checkpoint line, the player may decide to jump over it to initiate the stage's Challenge mode, at the cost of returning to the start of the stage upon death. Also added is a Donkey Kong Country-esque end of level cannonball bonus shot, given only for completing the stage with all the Gold collectibles. The retro-inspired bonus levels of the original game make a return, this time unlocked by collecting Famicom cartridges in the levels.

    Music

    Chiptune artist Disasterpeace provided music for the 8-bit themed bonus stages.
