Yeh... what?? I didn't even know this existed. Is this actually coming out, or is a bullshit retailer date?
Blades of Time
Game » consists of 4 releases. Released Mar 06, 2012
A follow-up of sorts to X-Blades, Blades of Time reintroduces minimally-dressed treasure hunter Ayumi, now with a more realistic look and the ability to record and rewind time.
This is a thing?
Now I'm just thinking back to those early GB pics of Jeff/Ryan/Brad wearing X-Blades hoodies.

They weren't even hoodies, just kind of lame shirts.

X-Blades got a sequel?
What?
It's a spiritual successor!
Really? Holy shit, that X-Blades game seemed not entirely worthy of a successor.. and by that I mean it sucked. What´s next? A Homefront sequel? Oh, wait...

But...it has the same character, and...I, I...

Reboots don't work, man, they just don't
except when they make a crappy game instantly more interesting - as is the case with the game you provided a picture for :)
I played a bit of X-Blades, but it didn't grab me. I found the gameplay kinda annoying, although I can't really put my finger on what exactly it was.
Blades of Time however has an extremely low price for a new release (€28 on my Amazon), so I might get it as an inbetweeny or some time later this year when I played through my preferred releases.
I'm surprised they went so far in terms of redesigning the main character. Maybe they understood anime doesn't sell well in America, but the whole shift made me think the devs are a bunch of try-hards.

The VO for this game is one of the worst I've heard in recent memory. If people thought Jessica Chobot was bad in Mass Effect 3 then hold on to your hats.
I'm playing now and I think she makes a fantastic sociopathic newscaster who reports on the death of millions of people while trying to stifle back a yawn and wondering if she should get some Thai food later since it's been a while and she really likes Thai.
But really, what gravitas!

I feel as if the developer should send you an autographed hat or a shirt just for buying this game considering how it came out so under the radar that it burrowed beneath it.
From the gameplay footage I saw of it being played does it get interesting?
I love her commentary as awful as it is.
"Sweet" - when finding a chest
"Oh cool" - when gaining an upgrade
The way she speaks about this ancient dragon city of treasure is spot on as you described it - just so matter of fact and slightly naive like yah everyone has a guildmaster and secret societies etc. Is the game supposed to take place in the real world?

That game did well?
I couldn't find it on metacritic (and while the scores themselves aren't very useful, sometimes the fact that the thing's on there at all is often [though not always] a good indication that at least a handful of people in comparison to the respective intended audience know it exists). My friends also said it was trying to be a darker uncharted with a female character. I didn't like uncharted, and no amount of edginess (alleged or no) was going to change that, so I didn't get it. I assumed it did poorly.

The Tomb Raider reboot hasn't been released yet. It's scheduled for later this year.

Then that explains a lot.

So anyone buy this game? Is it terrible?
Just got this game for reviewing purposes, so far, it's actually surprisingly alright, although generic as all hell.
How's the combat? Is it mainly shooting, or can you choose what weapons to use and play it as a hack and slash?

Bad acting or bad writing? Or both?

The shooting is minimal, which is good, because it's horrible. Combat is otherwise alright, magic is cool enough, and it feels pretty satisfying to pull off the combos/magic, even though it is very simple to do so.

Certainly looks like a mix of both. It has potential to be amusing but no idea how that would pan out in the long run.

To clarify, I was talking about Jessica Chobot. She's a terrible voice actress and was hired as a shameless attempt at pandering.

I didn't get that. But the lines she was asked to read; wow. "Keep feeding me like that and I might just come home with you." Sweet Jesus, Bioware. You really couldn't do better than that? I think the biggest thing wrong with the character is the writing rather than the voice acting.

Is it really any worse than the line Claudia Black has to say in Dragon Age: Origins when you tell her to get her ass back in the tent for some sweet sweet Grey Warden loving? "Care to join me in my tent?"
"Never! You will have to carry me!"
Claudia pulled it off though, and it's adorable, because she's an actress, and that's kind of what they do.

@JacDG: I see, thanks for the info!
Dunno if I'll get it though, I read it's pretty short with 10 chapters and 8-10 hours playtime.
Finished it yesterday, and yeah, it's not very lengthy. But if you can find it for dirt cheap, and don't mind excruciatingly bad voice acting, this is actually a pretty competent hack n' slash game.

I really liked the demo..
I wish the campaign was longer.
