The latest from the bomb shelter...

By far and large, Eat Lead: Return of Matt Hazard. An awful attempt at humor and the most broken gameplay design I've experience in years. My friends and I are all about playing terrible games in groups but this one just made us suffer. After an hour, we gave up and put in something else. No laughs were had, only tears.

that would go to Remington Big Buck Trophy Hunt. it was just not good in any way. not even funny (like i thought it would be.)

this video makes it look funny, though.

I purchased this game because I like Trek.  This game is a trick, and sullies the Star Trek franchise.  I didn't unlock a single achievement and couldn't bear the game for longer than 15 minutes.  It's terrible.

Gerstman's 2 outta 5 star review sums it up nicely.

I've played a lot of terrible games this year, but the one I think I should mention is Call Of Duty: World At War. That game is just awful. I don't feel the need to describe it in detail.

Luckily, I haven't played to many bad games this year but Baja: Edge of Control is probably the worst. It's easily the worst racing game I've played this generation, maybe ever. The definitely weren't kidding about the "edge of control" part. It felt almost impossible to control the cars sometimes. I understand it's an off road racing game but the out-of-controlness seemed ridiculous. To be fair, I only played the game for about 3 or 4 hours before I said "fuck it!" and gave up on it.

In second is Far Cry 2. The game just couldn't keep me interested so I also gave up on that one after about 3 or 4 hours. It's not nearly as bad as that other game though.

Yes, neither of these games came out this year but I played them this year so, that counts, right?

I guess it would have to be Guitar Hero Metallica. Neversoft spends little to no effort with their band tie-ins and it definitely shows. All they really do is make character models and the charts and slap it altogether and call it a game. There really isn't much to add to that.

Modern Warfare  2. I can't believe how fucking hyped up it was..it was just a box cutting simulator. Fuck you IW!

I really hated playing The Beatles: Rock Band. I thought it was boring a terrrible idea from the moment I heard of it.

Yeah I'm going to get flak for this, just as I got flak for not liking Half Life 2. Though, It should be a counterpoint to those people that I have enjoyed similar games such as S.T.A.L.K.E.R

Fallout 3 was nothing that it was hyped up to be. Immersive? No. Expansive? No. Satisfying Campaign? No. They basically took the postapocalyptic open world idea and boiled it down to its most mundane aspects.

The gunplay is terrible, with the only viable option being to kill people with VATS. VATS seems rather like cheating, and gets boring fast anyway as you essentially just rush up to people with a shotgun and shoot them in the head, no matter what the enemy.

Presentation-wise, the voice acting was meh and the graphics look terrible. It looks like it's running on first generation Source Engine or something; I played the PC version with everything cranked up to max (including res and AA) and that didn't help. Not only is the game graphically lacking, the artistic style is ugly as well. Open world games are supposed to compel you to explore, who wants to explore a land the color of vomit?

For an open world game, it's actually quite small. The vast majority of explorable land is simply empty with a couple wild beasts scattered here and there. For an RPG, the game is also incredibly short as I finished it in 7 hours while doing a reasonable number of sidequests and speaking to most people I encounter. Compounding to this was the infamously bad ending, one of, or possibly the least satisfying ending I can think of in all my years of gaming.

Fallout 3 could've been great, but the execution was extremely clumsy. After playing games like Mass Effect and Stalker, Fallout 3's lack of atmosphere, lack of features and poor visuals was made pointedly obvious.

I try not to play my worst game of the year, but year after year I fail. This year I have two candidates, that I can remember.

The Godfather II
I absolutely hated the first one but thought I'd give this a chance anyway, because that's what I'm like. It is a vast improvement over its predecessor, meaning it's garbage. Basically it has evolved into Saints Row 2, but without the fun, as the fierce, soulless blandness that has come to define the series has survived fully intact. So it's douchey, crass and dull.

Guitar Hero 5
The setlist is TERRIBLE, rendering the whole game worthless. My fault for assuming it would be alright and not terrible like in every other Guitar Hero I've played. But alas. Also it turned out I don't really care for the genre any longer. Having wasted €90 on it doesn't make me hate it any less either.

... the one and only : Damnation. I really though that this game is going to be a good third person shooter,  unfortunately it wasn't. Bad graphics, broken gameplay, glitches, bugs, you can find it all in this game.

Lionheart: Legacy of the Crusader.
A tepid attempt to mix Fallout's ideal of an unusual setting and myriad character choice both in realm of development and decision making, the SPECIAL system here is just as much a bastardization of the original as it was in Fallout 3.

The Italian Renaissance theme was interesting at first, but became overwhelmingly mundane once the realization came that most RPGs tend to borrow from this general time-period for both aesthetic and weapon/item content. The same can be said of the game itself, which provides plenty of playability for a variety of different character types throughout the first half, yet devolves into hack & slash once you leave the initial city of Barcelona.
There's nothing wrong with hack & slash games, but this was a lapse in the game's intended effect and it also unbalances the game for now-gimped diplomatic characters.

While I've stayed away from to many awful games this year, I would have to say that Terminator Salvation was a terrible game. Broken in areas and combat that literally caused me to fall asleep at one point, I feel sorry for those who bought that game. Terrible experience and without a doubt the worst game I've played this year so far.

Also have to give Guitar Hero 5 a mention, though that was no where near as bad as Terminator.

Probably Harry Potter and The Half Blood Prince.
Not that the game is terrible, exactly. There were bits of it I didn't mind.
Just the game isn't THAT much longer then the movie it's based on, which is kind of sad.

Two Worlds was (by far) the worst game I have ever played this year. Two Worlds was 2 deminsional, an eye sore, and horrible looking creatures. I played the first few minutes, killed an Orc or Ogre or whatever the hell they tried to make it appear to be, "opened" them up to take what I wanted from them, the inventory screen reminded me alot like Champions of Norath 2, as I did not play the first (didn't own it, it was my sisters). After I "opened" up the Orc or Ogre, looted them, saw how horrible the mace and shortsword were designed and made, it made me want to puke up my balls. it was just horrible. Grade A Worst Game of The Year.

What a disappointment that was. I played the flash demo way more than I could bother with the actual game.

I'm going to have to say without a doubt, though it is an older game Eternal Poison. I might be a bit OCD, and I have my perfectionist moments, but that game is just bad. I can't imagine how people are able to play what I feel is an epileptic's worse nightmare. The characters are doing a constant twist, all that's missing is some Chubby Checker. I just felt that it felt dated, and wasn't nearly as good as some PS1 tactic style games.
