The TGS trailer didnt show much, but it looks interesting. Thoughts?
Bloodborne
Game » consists of 5 releases. Released Mar 24, 2015
An action role playing game by FromSoftware, marking the studio's debut on the PlayStation 4. It shares creative roots, as well as gameplay elements, with the Souls series.
Bloodborne: The Old Hunters
That's some arrangement of weapons; I lost count halfway through... but does it feel like a lot of them are hybrids of existing ones? I caught a Burial Cleaver and a Cane Cleaver. Also, not only did the Beast Claw transform that hunter's whole body, but the bow and arrow also involved beast hands.
But the arcane projectile and the sword and shield? This is set to be weird as hell.
I haven't touched Bloodborne since April; can anyone tell me if they actually improved the frame rate and load times? I want to play this expansion, but Phantom Pain has kind of spoiled me on steady famerates and great load times.
@oldirtybearon: It's improved. I don't think about the load times now, it's not super fast but it's reasonable. It runs smoothly often, drops to lower at times but sometimes it frames the fuck up (I've seen it mostly in co-op).
@honkalot: Ah, good to hear. Cheers.
@oldirtybearon: They released a patch at some point after release that basically halved the load times and changed the loading screen. As for the frame rates, I don't think they've addressed the frame-pacing issues.
Edit: That was a weird trailer: they show quite a few new weapons, which is definitely cool, but they also show a lot of the same areas, albeit slightly changed. The same with the bosses.
More Bloodborne! Flaming Cleric Beast??

I wonder if it'll have some sort of weapon combination system that lets you combine two weapon stances?
@honkalot: It's usually embedded into the main game. At least it was for Dark and Dark 2. It'll probably work the same way for Bloodborne.
Being new to souls-like games how do you usually access the DLC? Is it inserted at a specific point in the game?
The DLC implementation for the original Dark Souls was ridiculously obscure, however the second was much more accessible courtesy of the fast travel, though the entrances to the DLC areas still required you to have played much of the game as they're located behind boss battles and such. I imagine Bloodborne will operate in a similar fashion by way of letting you fast travel to the new locations, that is if you don't perhaps select from the main menu.

Okay I was afraid of that, but thanks for the info. :P
I'm in a perfect spot now on my first playthrough where I have (I believe) most areas accessible at will, but I will finish it soon. Time to get a bit into it on NG+ I guess! :)
From what I gather it drops on December 5th, so you've got plenty of time to do your thing. I would recommend not playing the DLC on NG+ first, however, since the DLCs for Souls games are often far more punishing than the main game.
@oldirtybearon: Both the EU and US blog are saying November 24th for €15/$15
I wonder if they did something to the core game or if that some heavily edited footage because it was running super smooth and while Bloodborne generally had "good" performance it didn't run THAT nice.
Technicalities aside it looks cool. I'm certainly a lot more excited to play Bloodborne DLC than Dark Souls 3. Once they introduced us to the new world and systems of Bloodborne I kind of left that dark fantasy setting behind and honestly don't feel like going back.

It's actually $20 according the US blog, same as Artorias of the Abyss. Also, heads up for those who'd like to stay spoiler-free: the blog contains some details about the story premise and one of the bosses.
Between this and the Witcher 3 dlc, I don't know how I'm going to be able to play any new games releasing this fall.
Looks neat, bows are cool.
I liked Bloodborne but didn't finish it. Wether that was Souls fatique or the game itself being less interesting I'm not sure. I want to go back to it sometime though.
that... footage looks too good/ Are they overhauling the camera?
Haha it will be a cold day in hell when From Software make a Souls game with a half decent camera/lock on system.
@rongalaxy: In addition to the expansion, there's a "GOTY" version that should be out the same day that contains the base game and this expansion.
@jesus_phish: yeah, but it would have been better if I just kept my copy. If it's $60, it'd be like I'm paying $40 dollars for a game I already beat the hell out of. I'll probably just buy the base game on eBay for cheaper.
Weapons look good. Lots of reused locations, enemies, bosses in the trailer though. Hoping that's too keep the DLC spoilers at a low, or it just means it's quite short. Bloodborne biggest downfall was it's lack of combat variety/numbers which really killed replayability especially for making unique builds for PVP. There is a huge reason why people are still playing Dark Souls 1.
That lazy reused flaming cleric beast though. Dark Souls had the Demon Firesage so it only seems fair =P
AMAZING. Out in the same year as the base game, too! What a life!
Looks like they're maybe filtering some new content back into the base game areas? That would be a really smart thing to do.
@golguin: Trapdoor to Byrgenwerth!
@claybrez: Probably Chalice stuff if I had to guess.
Patrick wrote up a thing on some of the finer details of the trailer over at Kotaku here: http://kotaku.com/bloodbornes-dlc-trailer-is-packed-with-small-details-yo-1730809744
That new magic attack almost looks like you're pulling insight out of your head and firing it.
@claybrez: Probably Chalice stuff if I had to guess.
Lord I hope not. Chalice dungeons were a great idea in theory and a horrible exercise in boredom and tedium in reality.
I platinumed Bloodborne about a month ago and was almost ready to trade it in. Then I remembered there's DLC coming. So stoked for this, even though I'm a little bit worried it will be punishingly hard to use my New Game +4 character for it. I started Crown of the Sunken King for Dark Souls 2 on NG+ and could not get past the first boss. :(
